"Only if he wants, the committee could also transfer the prize money to my bitcoin address..." concludes Chowdhry. "Mr Nakamoto and I will settle later."
Seems like it would make more sense to transfer the money to one of Mr Nakamoto's bitcoin addresses.
It turns out that playing out violent fantasies in D&D is not only healthy
Well, no, it doesn't "turn out" that way. You've got an expert who asserts this, but that doesn't make it fact.
I'll be the first one to defend D&D and other role playing games (got my dice taken away in school numerous times). I'd never call them "unhealthy." But I really don't like the way people assert opinion as if it were objective truth.
People shouldn't throw in the word "abuse," then. Not sure if that's Microsoft, or the story, or the submitter, or the editors, but if the advertisement was for "unlimited," it's not "abuse" to expect to be able to use an unlimited amount, or even just 75G. I agree, nothing wrong saying "this isn't working for us" and changing it going forward, but it's on a whole other plane if you say some people were taking advantage of the situation or abusing it or whatever.
If you ever read the TNG series bible there are some things in there you'll be quite glad they departed from. And some of the tone just doesn't make sense - exploring Riker's reaction to women's liberation - hundreds of years after the fact? In a tone that sounds like it's objectifying women?
I'm decidedly not fascist, and I believe in freedom of speech. I don't believe government should regulate it in any way, and I think you should be able to use your press to print what you want.
But I also believe that an angry outburst is temporary insanity, and in my experience there are very few problems in life that are made better by going temporarily insane. I became a much better problem solver when I took effective anger management and learned to stop having angry outbursts in response to my problems. By learning to avoid the habit of angry outbursts, my brain literally grew new connections for new problem solving habits instead of putting its energy into the temporary insanity habit. People started to like me a lot better, too.
I enjoy a rageful, disrespectful rant as much as the next guy, and I support your right to have one. But I don't ever stick around to listen when they are directed at me any more, and my life is so much better since I learned to stop having them myself.
The two nuclear attacks on Japan basically ended any chance of World War III, and guaranteed that the Great Powers would never again become directly embroiled in a major war against each other. Yes, it's meant lots of proxy wars, but those are far preferable than a nuclear age version of the great wars of the past.
Nuclear weapons are the most profoundly successful peacemaker in history.
It would be awesome if the United States government were no longer able to get loans. The vast majority of what they do is pure evil. It would be great if they had to fund wars by persuading people there was an actual danger, rather than racking up loans and spending tax money that people have no choice but to pay, whether they agree or not.
The way you are using the word forgiveness doesn't make sense to me. If Jack damages property in 1966 and you don't make Kevin pay for it in 2015, you haven't forgiven Kevin anything, because Kevin is not responsible.
Then look at it as an important lesson in responsibility. Sometimes you have to cover shit that other people shat.
Wow, who appointed you or anybody else my teacher? I am not a child and don't need other people to give me lessons. Taking away money as a "lesson" is something that bullies in school do.
Americium is not an isotope of Plutonium. It's a separate element. Americium is atomic number 95 and Plutonium is atomic number 94. Isotopes have the same atomic number.
Surprised there's not a +5 comment explaining this already.
Wow, we've come a long way. I remember getting sshd from OpenSSH running in Cygwin long ago and posting about it here on Slashdot. I was just playing around and never messed with it further, but it's made a fun story to tell.
And yet when I go to pickup something at site to store, their software still sucks, noone can use it, it lists everything we've ever ordered instead of just what is there to be picked up, and noone can find our order.
My current work on userspace graphics enabling may require me to send an occasional quirks kernel patch, but I know I will spend at least a day dreading the potential toxic background radiation of interacting with the kernel community before I send anything
My wife and I did some extensive work to learn how to avoid expressing disrespect to each other.
One day I complained to her that she'd made me swim in a sea of toxic disrespectful judgments all day.
What I learned from the professionals was that using hyperbolic labels like "toxic" is also disrespectful. It's better to just stick to noting that you felt disrespected by a particular statement or statements until the message gets across - assuming the other side is working on learning to avoid disrespect. If they aren't, you identify the disrespect for them, notify them you aren't going to tolerate it any more, and then enforce boundaries to make sure you aren't subjected to it any more.
Another thing I learned is that people who are in an abusive relationship (including disrespect) tend to become abusers themselves.

Too late for Ross Ulbricht, I see.

I wouldn't know - I have been using adblock since before that was an issue on imdb. I had no idea they had an ad problem at all.
You mean the current economic collapse that was caused by the existing U.S. government?
Yeah more babies! I want baby! Baby, baby, baby!!! is not the proper response to this news.
I have seven children with another on the way, and I wanted to let you know, just to piss you off. :)
Also, they aren't just ignorant about technology. They are ignorant about liberty.
I have no gripe with people using violence to defend themselves. Just not against innocent people.

At the cost of untold numbers of human lives.

You didn't do it personally, but your country did. They aren't asking you personally to fix the problem. They are asking your country to fix it.
No, my taxes pay for it. There's no such thing as "my country." There's just people.

But it wasn't us. I didn't do it. I wasn't even alive then.

Major European publishing house Axel Springer has instituted countermeasures against users who employ adblocking software
No problem. I'm sure adblocking users will soon employ countermeasures against Axel Springer, if they still want to see it.
I have a solution. My solution is that the government stop calling everything terrorism and stop making new laws to justify whatever it wants to do.

It hasn't stopped my boss from cracking the whip the last three months to get us to get EMV implemented.
I thought it was pretty recognizably dismissive of that view, actually, e.g., "We've come up with this crazy idea..."
