Every time a new release of OpenBSD is out I purchase it. Then I donate it to the local Library and write it off. I think this is a win win situation all around. If more people would do this, more people might experience a different OS other then Windows or MacOS.
>They need to embrace Linux, even more than they do now. Maybe their own distro, one that >works perfect with ThinkPads and a new line of PowerPC machines!
Its not always a bad thing to go against the grain. As evolution has shown, wires are bad and wireless is good. Yes it won't happen soon, but it will happen. And just like AOL was there when the internet became popular. Earthlink will have there foot in the wireless door when that becomes mainstream.
Seriolusly, take them to small claims court. This is what I had to do in Oregon. I shipped a computer that was well packaged too and it was bounced around like a basketball so much that the CPU became disloged.
I always knew the professors over at Princeton were on Crack and now we have proof:
Peter Meyers, a professor of physics at Princeton University who was not part of the research team, said the finding is the "sort of crack" that "has been sought for many, many years."
Have you tried contacting the manufactuer of the products you are using? I don't mean as joe student, I mean as a represenative of your university. You might be able to get more then just the specs to the equipment. You might be able to get donations.
But OSX is BSD based and fully functional so that even a ``Mac-user'' can use it with out any knowledge of the underlying OS technology. Weren'there some GPLd Linux products out there trying to do this? Looks like they failed.
Theo DeRaadt of OpenBSD was applying for a job at Ernst and Young to help them build a scaleable, secure OS for one of their clients. They turned him down because he didn't have a degree.
Wow! You are so enlightened. Not! Let's disperse some of your misconceptions:
1. Usenet posts != number of users of the OS
Why could you even come to this conlusion? This is like counting the number of flies at a picinic and assuming that the counted number represented the entire population
2. FreeBSD is NOT owned by Walnut Creek. WC simply was the largest distributer of FreeBSD untill they were acquired by BSDI. While FreeBSD and BSD/OS are close cousins, BSDI doesn't own FreeBSD either. Or NetBSD or OpenBSD for that matter.
If *BSD is dead then how is it that I am still able to track CURRENT on FreeBSD or OpenBSD?
I know you can't answer this so why don't you do us all a favor and go take a personality test and become a scientologist

It is called FreeBSD.

I thought
Roland made the best keyboards.

That range is called the Goldie Locks range. Not too hot, not too cold....

Soon we will get commercials pumped into our dreams
My IBM PC jr had a wireless keyboard that came standard. For you folks who don't remember the PCjr was popular in the mid 80's
Why would anyone want to use IPX? Even Novell has decided this was a bad protocol to use...
It was just a MAC :-)

What seriously needs to be focused on is particle switching.
FreBSD has been using the Jail code that PKH wrote years ago
"But even better, you can open this type of attachements directly from any mail client."
I am guessing it is only a matter of time before someone writes code that will wreak havoc on the linux community.
BeOS is in no way ``kind of UNIX''. This is simply a false statement.
