It just seems brilliant to me, but I can tell you first hand, how I may talk in my thesis papers is very different that how I may speak or come across in my C++ blog, beer brewing forum, car forums, fishing forums, my backyard BBQ blog, etc, etc, etc. I wonder what the accuracy rating is.
I think the biggest thing that would stop me from wanting to do a full car PC or not is simple aesthetics. Does it look right? Does it look clean and stock? Am I spending half my commute troubleshooting my radio?
500 - 1000 miles? No way. Most shoes are blown out by around 300 miles or a bit more if your lucky. After that your chances for injury and strain go up a lot. Check out most running sites like coolrunning.com and you will seee the same deal. If your putting on about 1000 miles on a pair of shoes good luck to you.
Of COURSE they want to use that one. I knew a kid who worked at CVS. He signed himself up for one of those cards at CVS that gets you the discounts. When people come up to the counter and tell him "I forgot my card" he swipes his personal card. Why does he do this? Because of the cashback awards he gets. He gets a giftcheck in the mail once a month for about twenty - thirty dollars since according to his card he is spending thousands in the store. He uses the extra 20 bucks for shaving stuff, minor grocerys like chips, bread soda, water and newspapers. It isn't much but for him to use the card like he does he gets a free $240 or so a year in goods he would have otherwise paid for.
Look at the Beastie Boys "Pauls Boutique" for example. Back when they made it there were not any real laws governing sampling. The took something like 30 bands samples and used it all over that album. I remember seeing that after this the laws were made so that they had to pay a royalties fee to use them. They would have never been able to release that record due to the price they would have actually had to pay for all of them.
Now that they are out of debt I wonder what the percentages of the income were. For example was the new OS's able to give 20% of that, the iPod good for 40% etc. What about iTunes? I know I just picked those %'s out of the air and have no way of guessing what they might be but what do you guys think helped them get into the clear?
I'm somewhat dismayed that my current watch shows me the date. Why would I need a watch to tell me that?
Don't be so sure. There was a day when I had no idea what it was. I don't mean the date I mean like Tuesday. So at the time I was working a job at 15 and did not know if I needed to head into work. I asked my sister and she wouldn't tell me. So I called 411 and they told me they were not allowed to give out information like that. Why? I have no idea. Maybe they thought it was a joke or something.
This story needs no jokes at the end because unfortunantly it was true.
Hey, I had a 1984 Delta 88 Royal Brougham Coupe as my frist car. I have no idea how it made the list. I couldn't kill the thing. I blew up a few tranny's but it was my own fault. I used to take the thing sideways around every corner, do smoke shows and brake stands everywhere. I used to even pull ghostbusters. I took it off road a few times and buried the tires in the sand at the beach once when messing around. I was coming home one night and floored it around a corner to do my normal slide show and took it right into a wall. The wall was made out of wood and fell apart while my Delta did not have a scratch on it. Even towards the last few days when I was getting rid of it and put nothing but octane boost in the car, opened up the carbs and took of the filter it wouldn't die. It ran like a beast.
Now I know the big deal is to hate Emachines but do many of you have experience with them? I knew a lot of people in my area were buying them because the price was low (friends and students) because that was all they could afford. At first I had the same feeling of "eek, I have heard bad things", but once they got them setup and running they really had no issues with them. I mean they were using them for what they were designed for. Things like email, IM, web browsing and minor games. These things lasted for a while, usually until it was time to upgrade or what not. A lot of people I know still have them.
Based on what I saw they took the abuse of a home computer and ran fine with no problems outside or regular software issues. Why do they seem to get such a bum rap on here?
Out of curiosity which of you out there will be effected by this? Is it more in the home or in the office? What services are you depending on these "older" systems running and what changes have you done to take care of them? I am just curious to hear from people out there.

Missed his shot at glory and fame with this one.

But doesn't that ruin the "Every slashdotter lives in his Moms basement" jokes?

Click a message then go back- Moz 2secs, IE 2secs."
The real question though is how long does it take to transfer a 17 meg file?
