    I was thinking the same thing. I'm guess what they meant to say was 3-4 Megawatt Hours over the 30 seconds, which would bring and amperage to 42-56A.

    There are actually a few airports that now have 3 separate lines - Expert, Casual, and Family. I have only been through it at Midway airport in Chicago. It has made getting through security much faster, except one time when a TSA employee was telling people that the lines didn't matter and to just go in any line.

    There are some serious side effects with this worm. IT also tries to exploit port 80. I work in a computer repair shop, and in came a machine with this worm on it. It tried to infect our dsl router, and brought it down. Not to mention, it also used any bandwidth we had when it wqasnt busy attacking our router and failing.

    Heck, some expensive cable modems you can buy in the store come with NAT!

    when i got cable i was happy to see that the cable modem already did dhcp and nat. before the thing even synced up with attbi, it would assign ips for computers and run just like any old nat box. as soon as it synced up with attbi, this feature stopped working. just because you own the modem, doesnt mean you ahve control over it.

    The TI-83 Plus just came out a few years ago. It has more ram, and "archieve" space where things can be stored. you cant run programs from the archieve but you can alwasy move them to ram. just this year ti released the ti-83 silver addition, which had a new processor. it was a little faster, and has a few more features that the ti-83 and ti-83plus cannot do.

    one time i was replacing a bad cdrom drive in my computer. i was talking on a corless phone and didnt realize the computer was still on. i got the old one out with no problem. when i put the power cable in the cdrom, sparks flew, the power supply shut off, and the phone shut off. i thought i had dreid the computer, but after a few minutes, it turned back on. the cdrom and computer fine.... the phone never worked again. my friend on the line said it sounded like a buzz you get from audio equipment when nothing is plugged in.

    I did pinewood derby a long time ago and took 2nd place. My car was very smooth and thin, even to the paint job. Furthermore, I routed out a hole in the bottom, added just enough lead to get the weight up, and put wood putty over it. I fixed the burr in the nail axle and actually drilled a new hole for it up more so the car was closer to the track. I dont if that helped, but I dont think it hurt at all. What I didn't do was sand the wheels at all. The person who took first.... well did. He actually sanded his wheels, so that the minimum serface area touched the track. There was a ridge in the center of the wheel that he sanded down. It semms like that should work better, but I am Just a high school student.

    This is already possible. I have a Mosix Cluster where all of the nodes run off of a bootdisk. They remotely mount a file system. When someone goes to sleep, i put one of the boot disks in his or her computer. All I have to do is add their mac address to the database and add their dns name or ip address to the mosix config.

    I have the Motorola 120c and it works great and is web ready. The Web only works on digital networks, but other than that, it works fine on Digital and Analog networks.

    why not replace your floppy drive with an internal pcmcia or compact flash reader? it would only take up a 3.5 bay in your computer, and it would be recognized as an ide device. this would make botting from it much easier, even with an older bios. this may be a problem if you are using a laptop, but for desktops this would be your best bet.

    i have actualy used this at work. i started a job at this place and they had a computer with a lot of important information on it. the person who used it quit and always logged on as administrator on windows2k. i booted off of this cd, got an xterm and it even mounted the ntfs partition automatically. i just ftped what they needed to the file server.

    I don't remember seeing it on /., but Pro Sound and Stage Lighting has a nice article on it in their July 2002 catalog on page 41. They also sell it and have a little more about it on page 57. They also have information on it here on their website.

    i feel your pain. with att@home i used to get over a megaBYTE a second to a few major unniversities. thats 8megabit/s, so i was sad when im now capped at 1.5megabit/s.

    My friend once had a compaq computer that would give her illegal operations all the time. I was standing next to her as she showed me what was wrong and i put my arm on her case to use it as an arm rest. I didn't expect it to be hot, so I assumed her computer was overheating. I opened up the case and found that for a pentium 3 500mhz processor based comptuer she had one fan in it. The only fan it had was blowing out of the power supply. There was a plastic duct going from the heatsink of the processor to the power supply however. That fan failed and i think she is lucky that the power supply didn't blow up. Luckily Compaq use a huge heatsink on the processor, which is probably the only thing that kept it alive.

    Trust old telnet works fine, unless you are worried about people seeing your passwords, and everything you are doing. That is the point of ssh; it encrypts what you do, including passwords so it can not be seen by people on the same network segment. Telnet send your password and everything you do right over the wire without encoding it at all. A difficult password is just as important on telnet as in is on ssh because they can still be cracked either way.

    At my school we have one computer lab that it is networked, but not on the schools network. It is used for cad and has 10 Pentium 4 1.4ghz machines, and 14 Pentium 3 550mhz machines. The teacher in there bought 12 copies of halflife, and installed them on all of the P4 boxen, and 2 of the others. He lets people play on it when they finish their work correctly, but a few of us go down and play at lunch.

    Illinois does not put it on the license anymore. It used to always go on. Then each DMZ building had a choice, but you could tell them otherwise and they would comply. Now, they don't put it on anymore.

    Back when @home fell under, I was without cable modem for over a week. On the 2nd day I ran out to the store and bought an "emergency modem". It was a winmodem and i didn't care because it was only temporary. This was the worst hardware i have ever seen. Trying several ISPs the highest was getting was 1.2kbytes/sec from anywhere. I know people complain about in lag in games.... but that much lag in ssh are a complete new level. Needless to say, I had a lan party and we made a trophy for our "1000 frag unreal tournament contest" using lots of old hardware. My pathetic winmodem is now on someones desk as a bragging right. It has to be the best use for a winmodem that I can think of.

    ive gotten over 500ft. make one end out of 1" pvc, and have a converter to 3". put an end cap on the 3" section. put two screws on different sides, attatch to leads of spark ignitor and the arc will be inside. jam potato in 1" end. open end cap of 3 in side, spray in spray break cleaner, cap quickly. (1 short spray, dont flood it). press trigger.
