While your heart is in the right place...you understimate and insult through your ignorance a very capable sector of our society.

I chose to respond rather than mod you down:

Quit your P.C. whining. Nobody is insulted unless they choose to be insulted, in which case the problem lies with them. As you yourself said, his heart is in the right place, so your response is unnecessary.

You really can have this one of two ways:

    1. You can accept that people are ignorant about a disability and choose to appreciate their help, however unnecessary it may be.

    2. You can choose to be insulted and become a P.C. weenie, bitching and moaning and berating people who have nothing but good intentions. End result, that person will never again offer their assistance to a person with a disability because you've made them feel ashamed of themselves for doing the right thing.

I suggest number one. It makes you look like less of an ass and doesn't discourage people. Maybe the blind people you know are very capable who don't want any help, but there are others who aren't as capable and actually appreciate the assistance. Don't leave them out in the cold by turning away those who would seek to help them through your P.C. nonsense.

What should someone who can't afford a cab do in the middle of winter? Freeze?

These laws actually force more people to drive while drunk. I mean, think about it: If I sleep here for 8 hours, surely some cop is going to come along and give me a DUI. My house is only 15 minutes away, so I'll see if I can make it.

It is simply not possible to design a game that has all sensitive computation being done on the server.

What does a game need to send to the server?

    - Character data (who you are, what you're saying)
    - Positioning data (where you're at)
    - Action data (spells you're casting, etc)
    - Item data

The latter is where problem start: People can hack an item to give them whatever power they want. Then the client says "I'm doing 1,000 points of damage with my bare hands" and the server just eats it right up. There's no reason why this data cannot be checked! When I attack, the conversation should be:

Client: Attacking Hog Troll 125421 for 850 points of damage.
Server: OK, you're holding no weapons and wearing no armor. I know this because the last time you modified the items on your character, the client sent the data to me. The max damage you can do with your current outfit is 5, so I don't know what you're smoking. Request denied.

Nope. Mine is controlled with an AMX touchpanel tossing info via RS232 to the PC, which is decoded with uICE and send to the appropriate application.

In other words, you just tap "DVD" on the touchpanel, hit "Play", and the DVD app loads and starts playing. uICE can be trained to work with any remote control, so you could even use your existing DVD player's remote to fully operate the software DVD player.

Same goes for any other app on the PC. If you can control it with a keyboard, you can control it with any handheld remote and uICE.

Thank you, social programs. Anyone can get free handouts from the government. Hell, we even provide food, shelter, and free money to illegals who sneak over our borders. Nobody in the United States is in "utter poverty" unless by choice. The "homeless" can walk into a social services center and get hooked up with a better life if they want to.

You want to talk "utter poverty"? Go to The Middle Of Nowhere, Africa. Talk to people who own nothing, who are damn lucky to live in straw huts and barely get enough food to survive. Even the poorest American is filthy stinking rich compared to people living in real, honest to God poverty.

This is in contrast to even very fit humans, who just can't be spending 12 hours a day on a treadmill.

Thus, the data really wouldn't be useful, unless we could automatically kick the mice off the wheel after x revolutions and lock it out until the next day. That would simulate the amount of exercise one human could be reasonably expected to accomplish in a day.
