Any chance you can ask him where/how a normal consumer would file proper bug reports on the SYNC software? There's some issues in the 2011 fusion line that I've found and would love to report but the only angles are forums and tech support line which i don't have much confidence with.
Regarding the harddrive usage, i've disabled windows defender, auto defragging, windows update and it doesn't seem to make much of a difference either. When you disabled indexing, did you disable _all_ of the directories? There's a modify screen that you can remove like 5 directories. After doing this, it cut the HD usage a great deal but every once in a while it'll spike up and just think to itself for a while... i've never figured it out.
This may be a smidge offtopic, but if i were you, i'd check out PF that's in OpenBSD. It's so much cleaner and simpler than iptables. I've not used much of ipfw so i can't recommend anything there but pf..unf.
You don't even need to solder the adapter on. The 2 NES' that i've repaired this way you just take them apart and yank the old connector off the motherboard (provided you have all the screws pulled out). Now, after that's done clean your game cart contacts then take care to NOT DO THE BLOW TRICK ON THE GAMES! You can get the adapter here from MCM
Actually, if you can figure out a way to raise teh whole machine off the ground a bit, the tank treads that you can get with the mars rover mindstorms addon work really well. Also, if you can get an older 1.0 mindstorms, you can save a bunch of weight on AA batteries and use a (shorter life) 9-volt that plugs into the AC adapter port. I think i've seen them at radio shack. Then he would just need an X10 camera and some patience for the slow movement.
yeah, the TrueX drives rocked. One thing i did notice also, was since there was 7 lasers, it read mangled CDs alot better than my Yamaha CD-R drive. One downside to the drive though was that it had a LOUD spinup.
It's not necessarily a problem with things the user does or doesn't do that causes them to call tech support... Lets say you have a drive/motherboard/something vital fail. And lets say you have that part fail 2 weeks after you've recieved your shiny new computer. With a car, i'd expect your car dealer to replace whatever it was free of charge unless they deemed you caused the fuckup.
With lots of support now, you have to _CONVINCE_ the tech that there is something actually wrong with your hardware. Even if you're tech savvy, and know what's wrong. You have to do some convincing.
And, i can see where some tech support should be some of the user's responsibility. I totally agree with you, i do tech support for some of our net stuff, and do most of the programming. So yeah, all in all, i think i say i agree. Overall people need to pay some. but also they need to be smarter.
You can create a bootable dvd for xbox now with the current DVD technology. That's not the limiting factor (depending on what dvd drive you have in your box). The real factor is that you have to have a modchip to be able to boot, or softmod your box...
Unless your comment relates to linux liveDVD sizes, which 4.7gb should be enough for most people.
agree with you there, K5 is rampant, for a while there was a lull in quality articles, now i think that the articles are starting to pick themselves up. Once that happens maybe the old timers will flock back, there's still some people i wish didn't leave with silence...
actually, what i've noticed is that the old-timing cashiers (ones who have done it at least 10-15 years previous to now) are MUCH better at getting change correctly and quickly. Most cashiers aren't even trained to count your change back to you, they just read the change on the computer and give it back without making sure they didn't make an error. good cashiers rock.
The word awesome has been deprecated. We now only use good and some prefixes. So, i think the question is, do you use it for Good, or for doubleplusgood.
that's funny. i think the mr. pibb game was about the same of the chex game. i'm gonna go look for the floppy, i remember seeing it floating around my closet about 6 months ago

Wasn't there a mr. pibb or dr. pepper game that came out about 6 years ago that they distributed for free on a floppy. If i remember it was fps-ish with some pretty cool graphics (for the time.)
the payphone out in the Middle of Nowhere already disappeared. Here is a link to the going-away of it and why. Basically, the National Park Service and the Mojave National Preserve thought that there would be too much environmental impact if the booth remained too much longer.
They can increase their userbase to (hopefully) include some of the larger companies and corporations that opt to use FreeBSD because of it's SMP support and greater performance than OpenBSD. Hopefully, this modification will also include some performance modifications so it can also compete speedwise with FreeBSD.
While security takes precedence over performance in my book, there are definitely some things that need the performance of FreeBSD.
This is one feature i've been looking forward to playing with (not NEEDING) for a while, i can't wait to try it when it's available somewhere.
not necessarily, you could definitly ditch X w/o having to ditch gtk, just check out directfb. They have gtkfb, which is a framebuffer gtk implementation.

Pay them for happy happy joy joy feelings? Try just sending them the Don't Whiz on the Electric Fence game.

If this happens to get slashdotted in the next 8ish minutes, FoxNews is covering the scramjet live.

NT4 is very frustrating to work with in comparison to NT4.

As opposed to what? "A liquid that is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea?"

Yes, just hope they dont get out of the shuttle bay and intercepted by a ship with an infinite improbability drive...

The only thing I would ever ask of them is to take some of the lessons learned from the Gentoo Portage System.
Such as?
