I almost bought one on a digital camcorder, particularly because the saleskid said it would be covered if it got dropped, got wet, etc. But when I read the policy before checking out, almost everything he said was wrong. Almost nothing was covered. Now I never buy them.
I have 4 addresses forwarding to Yahoo. One (a bigfoot account) is at least 6 years old. For me, Yahoo's spam filter blocks about 40-60% of incoming spam and about 5% of legitimate incoming messages. So it's essentially useless for me.
Since everyone else has pitched theirs, my two choices would be OpenBSD and some flavor of DOS. OpenBSD installs quite easily from a boot floppy if you can get the networking going. (Good luck with that on an old laptop). OpenBSD will run somewhat in 4 megs. Just don't try to compile anything big.
My first choice would really be MS-DOS or PC-DOS or DR-DOS or FreeDOS. There is a huge amount of software. It is much easier to find DOS drivers for old laptops than it is BSD or Linux. If you really want to get fancy, search for Desqview/X and give it a try.
One of my best moments was when, in 48 hours, I flew to two customer sites and fixed their stuff. Was scheduled to go to one and test our new software on their systems overnight. 3 hours before I left we had a panic call from a guy on site at another customer. They had problems and were going to halt their rollout. In 3 hours I pretty much figured out what the problem was and had made the fix. I sent them the fix and hopped on the plane. After testing until 4am at customer A, I went to the hotel, took a shower, and went to the airport. On the plane (4 legs in 24 hours) I wrote a simulator/load tester for customer B's system and verified my fix and came up with some other changes they should make. I spent most of the day in meetings at customer B trying to explain why they were having problems. By 9pm that night, with me falling asleep in the corner, they were finally able to run serious loads. Their rollout continued and I got to go to sleep.
Anyone have advice for patching a 4.1 box? I think my best bet is to pull down sendmail directly and build it. That's what I've done with bind and apache and just about everything else running on that piece of crap box. Can't complain too hard though.
New Architect (was Web Techniques until very recently) shut down last month. Fast Company can't be far behind. Their issues are getting smaller and smaller every month.

Make sure you and everyone in your family know the following:
Some reliable friends or relatives that are usually home. Pick two in the local calling area and two way outside of the local area. Call them whenever or however you can and use them to pass messages. You have to agree ahead of time on the people though and carry their phone numbers. Keep the calls short.
A couple of safe places to meet if you can't get home. Somewhere a mile or two away in case of things like a brush fire, gas leak, road closure, train wreck, etc. Somewhere near work, near school, etc. in case of travel problems. Find out and carry the phone numbers of these places if you can. Try to avoid places that could be looting targets.
Your neighbor's phone numbers (home and cellular). You can call them to check on your house or anyone there.
Some co-workers cell numbers. Your family can call them if you forget your cell or it dies.
Some radio commercial, maybe for Chunky soup, was giving away a package for the "Big Game." They played games with talking about enjoying a big BOWL of SOUP at the game. At one point they even said "Oupersay Owlbay."

Anyone else get that impression?
I got the impression she started off lip-synching, then forgot to even do that for a while. Oh well, at least she wasn't a Canadian with beadly little eyes singing our national anthem.

You must WIN and you must SCORE in america.
Obviously you've never watched the Bucs play offense.
How would you change the trial, incarceration, and supervised release process to eliminate some of the unnecessary frustration? Or maybe you could just describe some of the lesser known hurdles you faced.
I'm due to complete my own supervised release in the seemingly distant future. Congrats on the FCC win as well.
We're looking for mainframe and AS/400 people, especially with C/C++ experience. Damn hard to find.

Cool. This site tells us all how to "hack" into the TV stations and get back usable video using our televisions and a broad-band antenna.
Um, 14 of the 15 hijackers weren't caught.

It's only fitting. Most of the business models of companies like Salon read like something right out of Paranoia.
Already done.
And there's an old military airfield between Busch Gardens and USF. See the big X here.
Can someone net this whole thread for me?

I don't think they've had any writers since 1993.
As in 6 weeks ago? Never heard a thing about it. Could that have something to do with it?

Who the hell shoplifts tires?
Is Morgan as hot as she looks on TV? No offense to Darci but why don't you social engineer some of that.

I don't know about the rest of you, but all I use Yahoo! for is to get, all on one page:
