If they wanted to save even more money they could make the Cylons invisible! Then they wouldn't even have to pay the actors. Why not make all the actors invisible! Then we could stare at a blank screen for an hour while imagining all the cool stuff that's happening that we can't see. It would have to be better than the screenplays that they use for the current show. Talk about predictable and lame. Let's beat a dead horse to...err, uhhhh...death...
Where are all the cameras and lighting equipment and the film crew? Wasn't this filmed in Hoboken NJ? At least show me some tiny flaw that I can sink my conspiracy-theory teeth into.
Better be careful or Microsofts attorneys will come looking for you for spoiling the surprise. Did I say Microsoft? I meant Apple. Well they're interchangeable at this point, at least when it comes to the way they deal with their customers.
OK, all those who believe that the FBI conducted only 13 Internet surveillances during the 2 year period please turn in your Junior GI badges. What ever hapened to all those surveillance systems in New Zealand that used to be called Echelon? Have they been retired? Google up "echelon surveillance" for some interesting reading if your interested to see what's being watched on the Internet (or your phones for that matter). Now maybe Echelon is being run by the NSA or the CIA but bottom line, it's got a lot more teeth than Carnivore. Actually I'm OK with the surveillance, if it's used properly...but there's the rub.
The Mac Mini looks just like a sawed of Mac Cube from years past. We had one at our company and it drew a lot of attention but few people wanted one of their very own. Well at least this one's reasonability priced, unlike it's predecessor. Still no date on Tiger...
How about closing the laptop and picking up a book? As an IT Manager I'm as connected as the next guy but with many plane trips under my belt I've given up on the idea of working every second. Maybe I'm getting old but now I never remove my notebook from it's bag on trips any more and I've found no appreciable change in the volume or quantity of work I get done in an average week. Way back when I had a security guard at an airport tell me to unplug my laptop from the wall because those outlets we for "maintenance people only". There's lots of good books out there that need reading.
I'm an IT Manager and the last thing I'm going to do is let an Intern anywhere near equipment relating to security at my site. I use Interns to setup PC's and help with the IT grunt-work around the office but giving access to the routers, firewalls and IDS systems to a newbie...sorry. It's like handing over the keys to your Ferrari to someone with a learners permit. I can appreciate the situation, you gotta start somewhere. My suggestion would be to Intern in a plain vanilla IT role and after graduation become a Systems Admin somewhere for a while. Then work up to the Security side of the house. The school that set up this program should re-evaluate this requirement.
To go along with Disneys other high-quality efforts and assuming that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen wouldn't touch this sequel with a 10 foot pole, here are my substitute recommendations:
Woody - Fred Savage Buzz - Tom Arnold Mr. Potatohead - Sinbad Slinky-dog - Stephen Baldwin Rex - Gilbert Gottfried Ham - Leonardo DiCaprio
With this cast Disney is sure to capture all the brilliance and wonder from the first two movies and might even top their latest box office smash "Home on the Range".
Eisner has stated that he's leaving Disney and now he's just hanging around to force Disney to buy him out for an early departure. He was the main problem with the Pixar relationship (Miramax too). With him gone rumors are flying about Steve Jobs taking over the Disney helm, exactly the right person for this job. If that happens then Pixar will remain with Disney and Disney will have fresh, new characters with which to feed their Theme Park Empire. Disney needs someone with imagination and character like Jobs, not another suit like Eisner.
I think you're missing the point. "They" censoring anything is not a good idea. What's next for "they"? Maybe they'll start censoring other sites that seem inappropriate, like China does.
OK, maybe I'm being thick but I don't get it. I'm going to take pictures with my digital camera then download it to my PC/Mac then upload it to my iPod? Why? I don't really need to lug around 25,000 pictures. Can someone shed some light on this for me (sans condescending, pompous remarks)?
A mathematical proof which explains why managers and others in authority make so much money.
From your physics course, you will recall that:
Power = Work / Time
From the world of business, we know that:
Knowledge = Power
and also that:
Time = Money,
Substituting these identities into the original equation, we get:
Knowledge = Work / Money
Solving for money, we get:
Money = Work / Knowledge
Thus, Money approaches infinity as Knowledge approaches zero, regardless of the Work done.
What this means is: The Less you Know, the More you Make.
Taking this analysis and proof one step further, we know that:
Knowledge = Education x Time
Solving for Time:
Time = Knowledge / Education
and then substituting for Time back into the Power equation, we get:
Power = (Work x Education) / Knowledge
From which we can see that the closer Knowledge gets to 0, the more power one will have.
Note:You can also increase Power through increasing either Work or Education, but it should be noted that this approach doesn't have the same type of leverage as lack of knowledge.
This equation is also known as the MANAGEMENT equation, since it provides a clear and concise mathematical explanation of why managers, executives, politicians and most other highly unknowledgable individuals get paid so much.
Also explains why us highly knowledgable techies get paid nothing.
I use AbiWord all the time but I use it on WinXP. I read somewhere that Gnumeric is going to be ported over which will be great since it's far superior (IMHO) to Excel. Most people hear Open Source and think Linux but there's a project called the OpenCD that's trying to get people weaned off MS by starting at the App level. They have many useful programs on the ISO including AbiWord. BTW OpenOffice is OK but not as good as an AbiWord/Gnumeric combo.
It was called the SPACE Race, not the MOON Race. And yes, the Russians kicked the Americans ass, in the SPACE RACE. Another thing, neither the Russians NOR the Americans would have gotten anywhere without the Germans. By the way, old Chris didn't discover America either. Jerk.

Must have found about Bush's re-election.

Any one of my users will do.

Well as long as we're making useless devices...

Nice. Let's censor information for the Greater Good. I'm not a Bush fan but this is not a good thing in my opinion.

I'm glad I've got my copies of Star Wars and Empire on LaserDisk. Now if I could only find someone to repair my player...
