The RIAA offer ed him a 17,000$ settlement (another year of school tuition when you think about it) or how an unforetold amount of debt for the rest of his life on Earth. If you still think that choice is easy, now imagine a billion dollar monster breathing down your throat. Sure, Daneil's actions might not have been heroic in the "lone man versus the faceless corporation" Hollywood kind of way. It was human. And I can't fault him on that. And neither should you.

  4. You're correct on Childhood Memories Ruined by the Internet? · · Score: 5, Interesting

Growing up is the actual ruiner of cartoons. My roommate and I sat down and watched a marathon session of Robotech shows. At first it was nostalgic, then it was funny, and then . . . simply pathetic. We finished only five episodes and that was that. Childhood was great and all that, but some things are best left in the nursery.

On an aside, my girlfriend's father is an animator (we live in LA). When he was younger he drew for Scooby Doo. I asked him about the whole Fred and Daphne always going off together. And he laughed. He said all the animators drew porno pictures of the Scooby cast getting on it with each other (including Scooby) and past it around the office. He told me most animators do that on all shows except sometimes the cartoons are screwing the producers and all other deadline driving folk.

IMHO, I bet these guys are hurting financially and they are trying to make their website de facto place so they can maximize sales and pour on the gravy.

Another Samuri joined the group only for the love of the craft.

If coding is tedious and you don't like building your application in painstakingly slow fashion, then maybe you should find a craft which better addresses your passion, or at least try and be patient with yourself as you grow. Each project, in my humble belief, should allow you to grow as a craftsmen until you reach that nebulous peak of perfection.

We're all going to die and the apps you pump out - in the grand scheme of things - will be ultimately forgotten. So don't you think it would be better to leave something beautiful behind in the world, if only to fulfill you? (and by doing so, fulfilling the people you love)

You're right that there is no magic pill because truthfully, you don't need it.

Just my thoughts. I'll step off the soap box now.
