    I bet that would scare AMD shitless on some areas because it looks like Banias really slaps Athlon 64/Opteron around a bit at the same clock.

    Fact is, Barton 3000+ dissapates 74W max, while Intel's P4 3gig dissapates 82W max.


    Actually, 3000+ dissipates at max 74.3W, whereas 3.06GHz P3 dissipates around 105W

    High-end and the most heat producing amd's produce LESS heat then the high-end p4's. I was looking at a heat dissapation chart and noticed that amd's top out at around 75 watts and p4's top out at the upper 85's. If i can find it again I will definately post it here.

    General Motors is investing $1 billion a year in R&D for hydrogen cars. Quite frankly, they're beating everybody else that I'm aware of so freaking badly in the post-gasoline initiatives sector right now the last thing I'm going to do is sit there and criticize them


    Well, in all honesty, BMW has been involved in hydrogen-research for a long time now, and it is common opinion that they are the leaders of that tech right now.

    I read your post, and when I saw that particular part, I realized that you are a communist (or something similar): a supporter of economic and political system that has over and over again demonstrated what a huge failure it is. And that makes your comment ignorant by default. How can anyone with a half a brain support a system that has nothing but string of failures behind it?

    1. Idea of confirmed extraterrestrial, intelligent life appeals to the Trekkie/nerd in me.

    2. The shock such discovery would cause in worlds religions appeals the atheist/agnostic in me.

    I do not beleive that they currently have a stake in the company since Caldera bought them and then changed names.


    That might be if Caldera bought SCO's shareowners out with cash, but that was not the case. Caldera bought SCO with their own shares, which means that SCO's shareholders (MS among them) got Caldera-shares for their SCO-shares. So MS could still own a stake in SCO/Caldera.

    In order to grow, we can't import Linux users from Neptune (though sometimes I wonder...). We have to appeal to people who are currently users of XP.


    And if KDE or GNOME starts copying XP more, the user will whine "It's turning in to Windows!".

    Yeah, and my desktop is faster than top-of-the line PDA's, so why would anyone want a PDA? Seriously, you are comparing apples to oranges. 7250 is a phone with a camera. P800 is a phone/PDA-hybrid (like Nokia 9210), and it costs "a bit" more if I'm not mistaken. They are meant for entirely different markets.

    The increase was 30% _clock-for-clock_, so the clockspeed is irrelevant in this comparison. Hammer running at 2GHz (for example) using x86-64 is 30% faster than it's 32bit cousin at 2GHz when running CS dedicated server.

    Kazaa is obsolete, don't share files on a client that can't check file integrity.


    blah blah blah. I haven't had any problems with Kazaa (Kazaa Lite to be exact) or the files I have leeched from it. I did use Direct Connect, but the hubs started asking for insane amounts of files to shared, so I stopped.

    Even a modern engine is still basically the same as the Ford Model T. We've just made it more effecient.


    Ummmm... Ford Model T was a car, not an engine. The real honor of inventing the internal combustion engine should go to Nikolaus August Otto (altrough there were other before him) with Gottlieb Daimler perfecting his design. Both are German, so it's no wonder that the Germans make the best cars ;).

    I wouldn't do that just yet. Qt is under GPL. If Canopy/Trolltech starts blackmailing the community, THEN move to Gnome. Right now, Trolltech has been more than nice towards Open Source community.

    Only explanation I have heard is that you usually look at the laptop-screen much closer than a desktop-screen. On desktop-screen 1600x1200 might be too small but it's not on a laptop-screen since you are physically closer to the screen.

    That said, I would like to see more 1600x1200 desktop-screens.

    Nokia's current phones don't have good BT support. The 6310i was the last Nokia that supported the headset profile.


    I use 6310i with BT routinely with my laptop (it's alot easier than with data-cables or IR) and it works flawlessly. I can't speak for headsets, since I don't use 'em. I fail to see why I should use BT-headset instead of regural headset.

    My point was that one should not steer clear of Nokia phones just because they don't have as many BT-models as S-E does. When buying a phone, one should judge each phone-model individually, not the whole range of phones as a whole.
