Since it was so easy to use downloaded games on it (no mod chip required) I decided to buy one. I had a lot of free games for it but I still bought 15-20 retail games which I never would have done had I not bought it in the first place!
Wouldn't someone be able to fool it by blowing up a couple of balloons before drinking? It would be pretty easy to control the airflow as they deflate to realistically simulate blowing into the sensor. I kinda doubt that they will have a thermo sensing built in.
Wouldn't there need to be two different versions of this? I can't imagine being able to fit all the buttons and controls on a device that would work for either hand. Unfortunately that would greatly increase the cost of production.
I wonder if the enhanced memory can be attributed to being able to focus on a single task? Earlier games tended to be simpler to play and are more likely to have been played to the point to where the subject reacts by reflex without using advanced brain functions. I can almost see myself getting into an almost hypnotic state when playing classics I loved as a youth. Isn't it easier to remember stuff when in that state?
I bought the XBOX version yesterday and this one has several prerendered cut scenes in it. Nevertheless I'm several hours into the game and loving every minute of it. At first I was dissapointed at how arcady the flight physics are, (Cruise speed is way too slow to be airbore, You can fly straight up withought stalling for a long time) but got over that when I realized how fun it is to swoop around and actually see stuff without it passing by in a blur. I can't speak for the end-game, but personally I like it better then the original for the PC.
Speaking as someone who went to high school in Natchez Mississippi, I would have welcomed cameras with open arms. There were so many distractions because of minorities causing trouble that it was necessary to have armed guards walking around the campus. I think having cameras would have cut down a lot on the crap that went on in the classrooms while teachers were gone. Who wants to rat someone out for showing knife in class? With cameras recording stuff, people would tend to act better. Unfortunately there would be a lot of blind spots with any camera setup where the innocent could be led before being attacked. To put this place into perspective, I once popped a lunchbag in the lunch room and almost everyone jumped under the table thinking it was a gunshot! Stupidly I ended up being suspended for that.
I've heard good things about this game and would like to try it out, but with it costing $50 for the box on top of the monthly fees (although I think the first month is free) has prevented me from buying it. Why charge full price for a game that you still have to pay monthly fees for?
It'll have to be pretty nice before I spend another $30 on an expansion especially with the kick-butt Desert Combat and EOD mods that are available for free.
I felt ripped off after buying the first one once I realized that there were only 6 new maps and a couple of new vehicles and weapons.
I wonder how much this will break future modding attempts that use current chips and save game exploits. Microsoft has had a lot of time to study the different methods currently in use and I bet you they will try to break them. This won't stop hacking in the long run, but it might slow it down for a while.
This shouldn't be too much of an issue outside since there are no walls to block the signal. For my house I ended up putting the receiver in a corner of an exterior room. This lets me aim all the antennas within +/-45% of the base antenna direction. Things would be worse in a two story house, but (un)fortunatelly I don't have one.
A cheap way to do this is with an X10 camera. Once taken out of it's base, the camera element and circuitry is fairly light. The biggest problem with them though is that they use a directional antenna. Unless you have a strong receiver the picture is going to look like crap unless you manage to keep the chopper oriented correctly. You could try aiming the antenna straight down and flying above yourself, but that really limits the usefullness of the setup. I would recommend wiring up an antenna from a 2.4ghz phone. (By being designed for the same freq, 2.4ghz, it should work pretty well) I don't remember the voltage that the camera runs on, but it is definately low voltage DC. You could wire up a battery holder from Radio Snack for pretty cheap and get several hours of use out of it. If you're going to be away from electrical outlets simply use a powerful enough inverter hooked to your car battery to power the receiver and recording device.
www.homepower.com is a great site That always offer their current magazine as a free PDF download. Most issues will show several complete setups including diagrams, results, and pictures of several different types of setups. Just in the past I've seen solar, hydroelectric, thermal water heating, and recipies for making bio-diesal from waste cooking oil.
Once I get around to installing a PC in my car I think I'll go the route of a HUD. This way I'll be able to glance at the interface without taking my eyes off the road. I've noticed in the past that papers on my dash in certain places reflect a certain ammount on my windshield. It's enough to see the paper and the road at the same time during daytime. At night it's very hard to see the reflection. I figure that a decent LCD with a brightness adjustment would work wonders. Of course I would have to figure out how to reverse the characters since I would be looking in a reflection. The only issues I can think of is dust collection and heat damage during the summer. A cover would work nicely for the dust, but making it removable for the heat problem would be tough.
I liked the show, but always thought it was BS how he could drive and drift without spilling the almost full cup his dad put in the car. In order to drift, a certain amount of lateral forces are required to overpower the tire traction. There's no way the water/tea/whatever would last that.
Run to a distant store and run back with it. Pretend the beer is a shot put if you want to feel Olympic. Make several trips (no pun please) since a lousy form while running uses more energy.
It might be more realistic and more fun, but having a setup that requires that much movement will likely be a setback if one races against someone with a regular controller. It's important to be able to take quick evasive movements in order to dodge other drivers that are trying to ram you.
It would be nice to see balloons in the competition. There was a test pilot who rode a balloon up to 20 miles (100,000+ feet!)before parachuting out. If someone could get to that altitude they wouldn't need nearly as much propellent. If you could figure out how to automatically deflate the balloon to adjust it's descent speed (Vertical speed indicator + air control valve it would probably be pretty easy to snag in the ocean. The only issue is that it would need to be pretty big since there's so much weight to carry up initially. A 20 mile head start would be pretty nice!
Since most of these rockets are using concentrated Hydrogen Peroxide, your house probably won't catch on fire. At least any wounds you sustain from the impact will be sterilized for a few seconds before your skin begins corroding!

Zip passwords are cracked quite easily. Good luck to you though!

I wonder how long it's going to take for someone to suck up all the bandwidth by using this for warez uploading or spam? It's a nice idea otherwise.
Or in some cases buy by "force"
You would need something to fill the hole with. Don't forget the solder and 50watt iron.

Personally I'm pleasently suprised that the industry is blaming the lousy sales on the fact that it's a poor game and not piracy.

Those are good points although playing Carmageddon sounds fun for #3

But I can't rightfully recommend it since I'm too lazy to do it myself.
