...so why would you do that? Even if the indigo had a bad motherboard or the like, well, that can be replaced... Why ruin a great machine by putting an x86 motherboard in it? I hate that like I hate the way people put other machines in NeXT cubes...it doesnt make any sense.
Xerox? but I cannot honestly site any examples of any companies stealing code. you are a fool; microsoft has never stolen code, they have licensed it legally. neither has apple. this is a moot point.
>
Macs are used by alot fewer people, so their exploitation ratio is alot less.

MS has the best support of any software company...and I own four macs. apples support sucks. miscrosoft still offer tons of free support for a 7 year old product I use- NT 4.
netbsd and gnu/linux are of course better than either...
it is there for a reason. that is real copy/pasting. heck, if you want to copy and paste images, well that doesnt work right all the time in windows either. the only OS that has ever had a REALLY good clipboard implementation is MacOS...but I hate macos... so;)
Limited to 1%? wtf? arent we about freedom? and since when are the european's role models? in this country, we dont have a democracy, so I'm sick of people saying it. look - we make campaign contributions illegal they are still gonna keep happening, only behind closed doors, and the situation will worse. dirty politicians will become dirtier...organized crime anyone?;)
If the consumer cannot decide that msware is not good, they do not deserve any better. MS's lobbying is no worse than many, many other major corporations and labor unions. This shouldnt come as a shock or surprise. You think the FSF doesnt have lobbyists(though on a much smaller scale)?
He was misquoted, and he straightened it out. It is amazing how many letters I have read in magazines from RMS, because they violated the gpl, or called gnu/linux linux, or whatever. I've gotta hand it to him, he doesnt take bull from anyone..
1. If you dont like a products EULA, don't purchase it.
2. If someone buys a product, but is unaware of the EULA and does not read it, are they worth defending? I say no - you agreed to give microsoft partial control over updates, so dont whine about it.
no. what about the new aussie censorship bill? dont be foolish - all governments will take away rights. learn your subject matter before you post...I mean, china is certainly an industrialized country...
what if, say, you are a minor and attend a university where you have no classes two or three days of the work week...what is considered a school night for you? or, what if you happen to work in these internet cafes...it is legal for you to work there... and have to stay till after 8pm?
Look - if all you are going to be doing on it is editing text, why do you even need a new/nice machine? Sounds like all you want is an old P166 or 233 laptop, stripped of all its drives, with a PCMCIA ethernet card. Almost all of them work great, have great video performance, and are old enough that most or all of their hardware is supported under gnu/linux or *BSD.
Get real. You sound like you are building your dream machine. You wanna spend $3000 or $250?
KDE is more efficient-for new users. I mean, technically, you dont need an X server at all to be efficient. If you were a window or mac convert to Linux or BSD it would be more efficient to have a familiar interface..
If I see any of those box ads on slashdot I will leave and never return. Period. Remember: it is slashdot.ORG.ORG as in organization. this is NOT slashdot.COM, although that is what it is slowly becoming. Maybe you ought to completely sell out now and save us all time.
no...it isnt going to fry your noggin. sorry. it takes much higher microwave levels to cook yourself...
this application looks interesting though...but why generate power and send it back to earth, when you could use it to give more power to the ISS, or another moon mission sometime in the future.
What about nuclear power? It will not explode at all in a crash. We already have nuclear powered submarines, aircraft carriers, and space probes. Why not a nuclear powered jetliner?
Someone who is so influenced by big money can only be a scum. Such a bill would be unconstitutional - and would never pass...but he is a scum even for suggesting it. Mad props to all the politicians who are trying to remove the influence of big business...McCain, Feingold, etc(and, ugh, Nader). Remember the New Hampshire state motto: ``Live free or die!'' If the bill passes(probability 1:1e99), millions would have to be jailed and fined. FUCK HIM! This bill is an abomination-and it goes against everything this country is supposed to stand for. Every researcher, etc, who uses non-certified OSS would have to leave the country or not be able to upgrade their kernel version. Entire commercial OSes would have to be re-written. FUCK HIM! Call your representatives and tell them to vote no on this bill--or you will not re-elect them. I wanted Dubya to win(lesser of two evils) but if he signs this into law...our country has been crippled. FUCK those authoritarians who want to regulate every aspect of our lives.

this post is right on. I have been saying this for years, but most obsessive mac heads will not listen....
Actually, Apple does give system software away. They used to do it with all releases, in fact, until system 7.1...

this is anything but a flame...and evidence that the moderation system on slashdot isnt working.

Electronic Frontiers Australia
Australia is no worse than the US- but that doesnt make it better.

This is ridiculous. violent video games my ass!
It doesnt support any of the "free", usually giveaway, lexmark, etc printers.
<A href = "http://www.turboprint.de/printers.html">http:/
what is the point? that list is so short...and there are free printing infastructures for them already. so why would we pay $19 for this product!?
these are all fairly expensive hardware printers...not the kind most joe schmucks will have.
that is (a) off topic and (b) the sb16 scsi cdrom uses the aha152x driver. look it up somewhere...and dont post OT questions
Wired published some DeCSS perl code awhile back...
Sorry...but KOffice is non-free.
dont want to be too technical...
But china began as a Marxist nation. China is an example of how Marxism(or any ism) is easily corrupted by greed.
Except libertarianism...
No form of "government" is perfect..
So what? He still has a legal obligation to abide by the rules of the GPL.

we all know that alcohol as astronauts don't mix...this gives ``drunk driving'' a whole new meaning ;)

Excuse my swearing. I am just really ticked off.
