I also think we've reached a point where a thousand bucks is more than people want to spend on their "cell phone," regardless of how cool it is.
How many people buying high priced phones pay for it in full?
People I know and work with spread out the payments over a 24 month period so it's easier on the wallet. So that $1,000 iPhone is actually $41.67 a month which to them doesn't seem as bad. And if they trade in their old iPhone when upgrading, it's even less.
That's why Apple has their iPhone upgrade program. They knew their high prices would be a turn off for some buyers, so to make upgrading appear less expensive, they created monthly payments and 0% interest.
Where in the summary or article does it state that Qualcomm does? Both state it's an (improved) Qualcomm sensor.
With its new 3D Sonic Sensors, Qualcomm promises an enhanced ultrasonic fingerprint solution that can sit under the display. In part, this is a rebranding of Qualcomm’s existing under-display sensor, but there’s some new technology here, too.
I thought iOS blocked access to the fingerprint scanner but it clearly provides enough information to know when your thumb is on the home button.
iOS doesn't block apps from accessing TouchID. That would defeat its purpose.
Many apps use TouchID for logging in (no more passwords to remember) or to process a transaction (e.g. using Starbucks app and TouchID to reload money to a gift card)
For the first time in months, Tesla was able to produce about 5,000 Model 3 vehicles over seven days. The total production for the week was at around 6,700 vehicles -- bringing the total for the quarter to about 77,400 vehicles. Tesla was able to maintain production of about 1,100 cars per day over four days this week and about 800 Model 3's per day over three of those days. It's one of the highest levels of production that Tesla was ever able to maintain.
In other words, Tesla didn't meet their 6,000 production target.
Some users who upgraded to an iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max over the weekend have reported poor cell and Wi-Fi reception and noticeably slower speeds when comparing their new phones to their older models.
I blame iOS 12. I upgraded an iPhone 6S from iOS 11.4.1 to iOS 12 and noticed that Wi-Fi connection speed and reception are worse now.
At the office, I cannot get very good cell reception so I rely on Wi-Fi. When I arrive at the office, I turn on the iPhone's Wi-Fi and then connect to the Wi-Fi network. The time it takes to establish a connect to the network is much slower, and the range appears to be shorter too. Locations where I once was able to receive a solid signal are now dead spots.
Just because the iPhone XR doesn't have 3D Touch doesn't mean Apple's phasing it out. If they were, the iPhone XS and XS Max wouldn't have 3D Touch either. Leaving out a feature(s) is how Apple gets people to pay up for the iPhone XS.
OMG! The iPhone XR doesn't have an OLED display. Apple must be phasing OLED displays out. OMG! The iPhone XR doesn't have a dual lens rear camera. Apple must be phasing out dual lens cameras. OMG! The iPhone XR's camera doesn't have optical zoom. Apple must be phasing it out in favor of digital zoom.
You're blatantly spreading FUD, but I guess I'll bite.
Your unlocked phone is linked to whichever service it's initially activated with. Even an unlocked phone, you can't take out an AT&T card and swap in a Sprint card and just turn it back on and have it work.
1 week after getting my iPhone 6s, I was able to swap out the Verizon SIM card with an AT&T one and it just worked. A few months later I was able to swap out that AT&T SIM and put in a T-Mobile SIM and it just worked.
I get updates about every other week for my Samsung Note 8... Last update was September 5th, in fact.
Is your Samsung Note 8 "a mid range Android phone for 1/3rd the price" of these new iPhones that AmiMoJo suggested getting?
And how long do you think you'll continue to receive OS updates and bug fixes for your Samsung Note 8? If past behaviour is any indication, it won't be for more than 2.5 to 3 years. Apple still provides updates and bug fixes for iPhones that are 5 years old.
7's the key number. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 Dwarves. 7, man. That's the number.
7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby.
Mr. Ma started a leadership transition five years ago, when he stepped down as chief executive. Alibaba’s chief executive is Daniel Zhang and the executive vice chairman is Joe Tsai.
Since stepping down, the charismatic technology billionaire has spent much of his time at Alibaba’s Hangzhou campus receiving visiting dignitaries or traveling the world to speak out on causes he believes in.
This is old news. We've known about this since the beginning of the year.

In other words, "paying drivers that much will make our service affordable to many of our riders."
Wouldn't the service be less affordable if drivers were paid more?

As long as Apple got their 30% cut, they looked the other way.
The change goes into effect on January 14, 2019, in most states, so if you're considering a change, it's time to plan ahead.
It's time for everyone to cancel their AT&T service(s) before Jan. 14, 2019.
I'd laugh if AT&T saw a huge spike in cancellations over the next month. Let's see if we cannot accelerate the cord cutting even more.
Thanks, NSA
What a colossal fail.

They'll be fined and customers will be given worthless discounts on future ticket purchases. And Ticketmaster wins again.

No.
The SE didn't have 3D touch either. They don't put premium features in phones aimed at low rent boomer retirees.
The iPhone XR isn't an SE replacement nor is it "aimed at low rent boomer retirees" though.
The iPhone SE had a starting price of $399. The iPhone XR has a starting price of $749.
All verizon iphones are unlocked by default.

This isn't really that big of a deal since he's stepping down as Executive Chairman. He already stepped down as CEO in 2013.
The CEO is more important than the Executive Chairman since the CEO plays an active day-to-day role in the company's operations.
Ma wasn't really involved in the company's operations while as chairman.
