Just remember, your gubament can't regulate just MS if this is the case. All companies, Linux distros, Macs, etc. would have to be held to the same standard. Sounds great, eh?
Yes, you can copy files to any iPod from anyone's iTunes collection (so long as that song is registered with that copy if iTunes)
Can you tell me how to do this? I'm not a Mac guy, but my g/f has 2 macs that she has songs on and can't get them off for some reason. There's a copy of itunes on each machine, and she'd like all the songs on one IPod. Any help would be appreciated.
Almost all MS Dev tools come with installation creating programs. And if you're not using MS, there's InstallShield, among many others. So while it's not a part of the OS itself, it's something handled well by the windows community.
I think his point is good, but then he has to throw this stuff in:
Some New York programmers fell into the lawful but socially destructive practice of proprietary software: they offered other people attractive software packages without source code, and exacted a promise not to share them with anyone else.
Despite these prevalent evils,.....
Because we all know that proprietary software has not helped society at all, and is in fact comparable to the evils of murder, and false testimony from police officers. Also, you're really likely to attract more proprietary developers to the OSS side by calling them evil and socially destructive.

Well, you should get a -1 flamebait for your aboriginal/third world comment, but it sure is popular to mod against the US.
I certainly wouldn't mind a little extra time off, but I'm not complaining too much. My work allows me to live a very nice lifestyle, with plenty of time for friends and family.
From the CIA world factbook - Per capita purchasing powers:
US : purchasing power parity - $36,300 (2002 est.)
Sweden purchasing power parity - $26,000 (2002 est.)
Germany : purchasing power parity - $26,200 (2002 est.)
So you're being pretty handily outproduced by a buch of aborigines. Maybe I can use some of my hard earned cash some day to visit the enlightened part of the world, Sweden.
What was your previous drivel about a few hundred thousand dollars? How about $5 billion? Enough for you, or are you Anti-Billy-G Blinders still on? I can't believe you were modded up.
Could you explain the hot cocoa box sampler joke to to me? I see it all the time on Fark but I've only been there for a few months, and I missed that one. Always been curious.
These posts come up all the time, and they're just silly. MS marketing is not the same as ms development. These are different groups with different functions.
Maybe the Linus should spend some more time marketing so they get more marketshare.
Dude you're just not in tune with reality if you don't realize there's an anti-MS mentatlity on this board. Try it for youself if you don't believe me - post something pro-MS, then post something pro-Linux, and watch the mods feed.
It's just the way it is. (Probably like if you went to MSDN chat boards and flamed MS, you'd probably be moderated. Makes sense, eh?)
In the linux world, you *usually* have the code for the patch
So all those net admins out there review the code they're about to apply updates for? I mean, I realize that are lots that could, but typically an admin won't skilled enough to read the code and determine what it will break.
My problem with that line of logic is - what the heck are they allowed to do if they can't add new products to windows? Are they stuck where there are now - never to enter any markets?
Well, you completely miss the point. Goverment is not allowed to set limits on what private companies pay employees (the greedy athletes.) The free market determines the worth of their profession. The free market has determined that they are worth the money they get.
What you suggest is that people of a certain profession that you feel are overpaid should have a cap on how much money they make. How about capping techies at 50g's a year. Give the rest to the teachers, and policemen. The problem is, that's government interfering with free market. That's not the way we work. I realize you don't like it, but this is a fundamental aspect of our system.
Professional athletes aren't government employees, so the government doesn't have any say in how much we the people are willing to pay them. If we follow your logic, why don't we take some of the cash from the bonehead CEO's who don't deserve what they get, or rich kids who don't ever work a day in their life. They obviously don't deserve the money they have.
Just because you don't see the value of entertainment sports provide doesn't mean the rest of us should be punished by having less motivated less qualified athletes.
Ain't it great that Iraqi's now can do the same thing?
Wow, that's a shitload of people in your life that have been subjected to major orwellian events like described in the gra
Maybe it's related to these plans?

Not just MS. Macs, IBM, etc. have to release their file formats if that's the case.

Go to your preferences and slap a -6 modifier on Funny comments, so we won't have to listen to your bitching about the way it used to be.
Some of us like to laugh.

hey bud, you just got a new friend.
The german pop culture is pretty much a mixture of the worst parts of the american pop culture and some really, really bad german artists.
Yea, we're sorry about that.

It has nothing to do with productivity. Maybe you don't enjoy watching sports, but it's quite obvious that a lot of people do. The market has spoken.
Walter, I'm not talking about the guys who build the railroads here....
That scene really tied the movie together.
You mean the fashion and home decorating channel?
No - I mean more like American Chopper, the other big metal machines. Like I said - not always, but certainly there.
