Getting people involved would be nice but, Google buying one of the big 5 media companies and dump all content more than 14 years old into a CC license would be priceless.
Well where I worked the supervisors and warden carried cell phones as did the tower officers. I worked tower for almost two years and always had my cell phone with me. If I needed to call the supervisor I had a direct line. If you use the radio every inmate knows what is happening. So jamming wouldn't work, at least in my case.
"creating 360k disks in a 1.2MB drive may not be easily readable by an actual 360k drive "
What I always did was erase the floppy with a strong magnet before you format it on the 1.2MB drive. That way the space between the tracks don't have conflicting data on them to mess up the read on the 360k drive. Always seemed to work for me.
ESPN360.com is available at no charge to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection from an ESPN360.com affiliated internet service provider. ESPN360.com is also available to fans that access the internet from U.S. college campuses and U.S. military bases.
Your current computer network falls outside of these categories. Here's how you can get access to ESPN360.com.
1. Switch to an ESPN360.com affiliated internet service provider or to contact your internet service provider and request ESPN360.com. Click here to enter your ZIP code and find out which providers in your area carry offer ESPN360.com
2. For Verizon Customers Only: Sign-in using remote access if you already get ESPN360.com
All I have to do is switch to another service provider.:-) How long before the remote Verizon access codes are available?
Yep, The prison where I worked as a guard for a while changed their control center from mechanical switches to a PC running XP. I worked the control center a lot and the "upgrade" sucked. You had to page thru several screens to see all the doors and the touch screen was too sensitive. You could open 2 doors or the wrong door by accident. The interlock system was suppose to prevent that by requiring you to use both hands to open doors, but it proved to be impossible to use so it was disabled. the OS was always crashing (likely the shitty program) and you had to wait for the system to reboot before you could open doors without the keys.
But the point is I pay enough in quarterly they don't need to keep even more of my money. Besides I don't get refunds,if anything I'll pay extra at the end of the year.
They do this and my credit card processing machine goes in the trash. I'll deal cash only, the customer will just have to go to the ATM to get it. I might lose a customer or two but not 28% of my credit card income.
The first video store I ever visited did this. You purchased the Tape for the retail price (about$80) and returned it for a refund. They deducted $5 for each day you had the tape. If you needed a VCR they would rent one to you for $10 per day plus a $300 deposit.
Up until the mid '90s a lot of new release movies were priced at $59 to $99 per tape (wholesale $39 to $79)and there was a 3 to 6 week window before they lowered the price to sellthru at $30 or so. When DVDs started selling for $30 the prices started dropping fast on the tapes and the window dropped completely . A lot of people still think I pay more for the DVDs than they do at Walmart and I do, but thats because I only buy a few at a time and walmart buys truck loads and loses money on the new releases the first week or so. I pick up a lot of DVDs at walmart for this reason.
An 11-year old isn't legal to work, there are these pesky child labor laws in this country (duh).
The child labor laws don't stop you from hiring children.(tho your insurance might complain) They limit the types of jobs and the hours they can work. I have a 17 year old working for me at my store when she started she was 16 just above the cutoff point but still regulated as to what kinds of jobs she could do. She only works weekends for a few hours a day but it gets her use to the idea of getting to work on time and doing her job (well when she's not being a giggly teenage girl). You can find the rules here: http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/youthlabor/
I have free wifi in my videostore and to generate a little extra money I put a few RV spaces on the lot behind the store. I offer my RV customers free wifi and many of them are here because I have it and other places don't. I don't keep my store computer on line except when I use it and it's on a different network anyway. The outdoor access point is a commercial unit that cost me about $200. All I have available is 1.5Mb DSL, but it works out OK. people visiting town will come by and get their email and sometimes even spend money here.
Really? I have stapler on my desk that I don't pay property taxes on.
hmmm, I have a computer, desk, counters, displays, pizza oven, freezers, and inventory I pay tax on every year. Around here it's called Personal Property Tax even tho it's only on business now days. I can remember about 30 years ago we had to pay a tax on cars, boats, RV's and refrigerators. Each year I get a declaration form in the mail and I have to fill it out with my estimated value. If they think I am fudging the numbers they will send someone by to do an inventory.
Some people have already started.
http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/
This will be the kind of site that will be shut down. Nasty pirates stealing old ham radio equipment manuals.

Austin is part of Texas. It's where we keep all of the Democrats.

Look, the whole world culture is becoming more violent when compared to - say - the 1950s.
Not really, at least not in the US. http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/homicide/hmrt.htm
Look when the drop started. Just about the time violent video games became available.
If this passes, I'm going to open up an Institute of Paranormal Studies in Texas, and hire every two bit crackpot psychic to be professors!
If you do, put it in Crosbyton next to the MT. Blanco Museum http://www.mtblanco.com/ you will be in good company.

I saw an ad about a week ago. Don't remember the channel.
But .....
1. Make sure you have permission from the land owners to dig the trench and lay the line.
2. Stay away from the state/city/county right of way, or the next time they work on something your line will be torn up.
3. ???
4. Profit

Maybe he has ADD Disorder
Why not put up a bunch of them up (like GPS) and just hop around to available Sats as they come over the horizon ?
Note:
I know nothing at all about this stuff, so be nice when you call me a idiot.
Or worse... they install clippy.
