Microsoft and Disney would like the core values of the Internet to be include the ability to sell their products unhindered to as many people as possible.
Where most/. users would like the core values of the Internet to include the abilaty to bash Microsoft and Disney every day:-)
Does this meen I can Patent a hand held device to bring moisture from a centralised distribution system to the ceramic or palstic container of a Plant.
I grew up on DOOM, DOOM][, Quake, TFC Half Life, Action Man, when you could get Tanks and APC's as accessories, so how come I'm not running around my old school killing all the pupals.
The RIAA is going to need to learn how to change how they do business. The RIAA is about as sociological as my left butt cheek... and it makes me sick. If big 5 lables would stop looking at current profits, they could create a new model to assure future profits without pissing people off. However, it's apparently a sin to tell shareholders that earnings are going to be a bit down this year due to a directional shift.
Actually It's probably illeagal. Most country's corporate laws leave company directors open to litigation from their share holders if they fail to maximise profits now
Seeing as the UK has just passed draconian antiterrorism laws (detention without trial) how long is it before we get a "big firewall in the sky"
Actually you are wrong. The antiterarism bill has just had its first reading in the house of commens. It now has to go to the Lords, then to the comitty stage, back to the commons for its second reading and then back to the Lords for their second reading.
This of course dosn't take an account of any ammendments that my be tabled.
This can only work if you can guarantee that you have a filter on all of the telco's in your country. This is simple if the govt. happens to own the telco in question. However it only takes 1 person with a satalite phone or an ISP outside the country to break this.
Of cause the country in question can counter this by making external calls prohibativly expencive or by prossicuting any one with a sat phone.
However if speed isn't a question then you could allways use an e-mail to HTML gateway.
I have just spent 10 minits trying to find one. Their used to be lots but I can't fine one now. Perhaps someone could post a list of addresses.
Wasn't there somthing in 1984 about the INGSOC youth ratting on their parents?
I actually don't mind paying the TV licences as some of that money goes towards radio and without that we would not have had
Yes (Prime)Minister
The Hitch Hickers Guide to the Galaxy
Goodness Grachous Me
The World Service
etc.
This depends on how you define core values.

Where most
Actualy not many ppl smoked in the club. And you wher'nt allowed to smoke on the dance floor
Have you noticed how many TV/Vidio combie units are on the market now.
I think this is the long term plan. Give it 5 years and vidio recorders will start to be fased out as 'every one will be using DVD'.
Then we'll see DVD drives intergrated into TV's and DVD drives outlawed for computers as anti DMCA (or whatever your local equlivalent is).
This gives me 5 hours sleep and a lot of exercise on the dance floor
Didn't we have one of those in Tunguska
All you need to do is find a country where the EULA cant take away the right of negligence
Does this meen I can Patent a hand held device to bring moisture from a centralised distribution system to the ceramic or palstic container of a Plant.
:-)
Think I'll call it a watering can

Well I have this PWAD file around somewhere ...
I just thank god no one seems to have archived IRC :-)
Would make a great story line for Neighbuours
Preperation:
Get a long role of sticky labels
On enougth labels for one each of the guests write the name of a diffrent animal
As each guest arrives stick a label on their back and tell them they have to find out the name of their animall.
The other rules
Yoy cant tell somone the name of their animal directely.
You can ask any other question about your animal.
Does any one remember the story of the artist who signed as a youth to Sony Entertainment.
After a few successfull hits he realised he was being royaly screwed by them.
He went to renegotiate his contract withe Sony and the told him to get lost, so he took them to caught an wone.
I think he was called George Michael or somthing like that

Is this the same EDS tha Private Eye keeps writing about?
And by the way the link in the story should be EDS
Because we Brits are a sick and perverted race, who nead a daily dose of porn to stop our brains from working.
If we didn't get our fix of slease we might start questioning why we have no fundimental right to freedum of speach or information.
Ways to stop this
Make international phone calls prohibativaly expencive.
Make the line quality realy bad
make every one who wants to make an international phone call have to register for the call in advance
break the conection at random times for 1/2 a second or so so that the modem drops the line
hard code the number that the modem diles into the modem
The big problem is that in order to make a living out of open source, companies have had to sell services.
This doesn't work to well in the (our) geek world as we all know what we are doing and in the rest of the personal computer market MS is still King.
This leaves the Business sector, which as we all know is run by PHBs who beleave everything MS's markitdroids spoon feed them.
If OS is going to make any head way we need a MUCH bigger marketing budget
Would an NT driver work, as IIRC 2000 was based on NT.
:-)
Of cause I could be wrong

If this stuff is going to be used to pick MP3's based on mood, I think we'll see a lot more suiside attempts.
Do you realy want a Smiths album when you are allready fealling depressed
The problem is I don't wan't a commen set of laws.
Especially if they are based on US laws.
Especally I don't want
1) DMCA
2) Illigal Canabis
3) US style gun laws
4) the age of drinking pushed up to 21
5) Death penalty
6) Religious laws
7) USPO style patent laws
