Unless every last competitor is inferior to the GBA in every way......which it seems like they are.
N-Gage? Don't make me laugh. This one has hit the floor even before the start. High price (at LEAST $300), bad button layout and I bet the battery will last just long enough for you to get a peek at miss Croft's pixelated breasts.
Mobile phones? They are a mile away from being portable game consoles. The Java system most of them use is slow like hell. Apart from that, they have all the disadvantages of the N-Gage without any good parts.
Helix? $300. A glorified PDA, really. Also, if this is anything like previous Palms, battery life will drain like tapwater when a somewhat intensive game is run.
PSP? This one is the biggest threat to the Gameboy, but with the specs it have it will either cost a fortune or have a lifetime of a 3-4 hours between each charge, or both.
So as I see it now, there are and will not in the near future be any real competitors to the Gameboy systems. Sony might come out and surprise us all, but that's the only bet so far.
Why shouldn't they? They can just put a clause in the contract that says that "if death is directly caused by [known medical/genetic condition], this insurance is void."
Mod parent up! If they're really planning to go after hobbyist sites due to the 'unauthorized' use of their trademark and want to make their (probably sucky) emulator the 'official' one, this is nothing like good news.
Land mines and other traps would probably just encourage future treasure-hunters, because "if somebody would go to such great lengths to keep an area protected, there must be something of value there."
I bought FF6 for the PSX. It might have been some of the worst money I ever spent.
All menus took AT LEAST FIVE seconds to open up. It wasn't a RPG anymore, it was a patience tester.
If the rest of the conversions are equally bad, I'd much rather fetch an illegal ROM and emulate it on my trusty PC.

No, he assumed everybody could get their hands on that software. Which brings up either the legality or cost issue, depending on which way you choose to aquire the software through.

Not really. RAR has two modes, 'solid' archiving where all the files in the archive is one big compressed stream, and 'non-solid', where each file is compressed individually.
They are simply gateways in a map that lets you see into and enter into another part of the map, opening up the possibility of Escher-like maps. Unreal had them first, AFAIK. But they have nothing to do with server changes - you stay on the same server, you even stay on the same map!
The only place I've seen server-to-server gateways ingame so far is in online RPGs like Everquest.
After getting access to the Windows source code, China has discovered and created exploits/backdors that will threaten any computer running windows. They have already hacked the Pentagon, and have downloaded the whole TIA database.
Ballmer knows this, and he is selling his stock to get cash enough to buy out a small tropical island, where he can hide while the DOJ and every luser on the planet marches on to Redmond, torches and pitchforks in hand.
By the time Microsoft gets around to creating something Quartz Extreme-like, GPUs will be powerful enough to raytrace the drop shadow of your desktop windows...
Does the word 'damage control' mean anything to you?
404ing the page took them 2 minutes, and now all users are relatively secure again. If Microsoft had done nothing while they fixed the bug, several million hotmail accounts would still be vulnerable, and would probably stay that way for atleast a few hours.
I didn't say HuffYUV didn't compress, but it doesn't seem to analyze the delta of frames. So if you have a picture where only some parts move, HuffYUV compresses the whole frame, even if maybe 10% of it is different from the last one.
Are there any alternatives to HyffYUV? I've got to ask, since last time I checked it didn't do any frame-to-frame compression, but treated each frame as a separate entity.
You don't need a valid code to download patches, but for playing the game online, yes.
J2ME only exposes a SMS send capability to the app, all the rest of the phone is inaccessible..
That's what we call a MMORPG.
1. Watch jobs move to the other side of the globe
2. Sell IP Telephony systems
3. Profit!!!

Cost. Legality.

It's not hard to do if you've got the money to rent a DVD-pressing factory. :)
It has to be, since nForce has its own category for them now.
I can send one to you :)

Thank you for submitting this to Slashdot. With Futuremark slashdotted to death, NOBODY will be able to get the evidence! *manical laughter*

No reason, except the original poster mistakenly thinks X10 refers only to a advert-happy producer of spycams, while infact it is also a set of standards and a communication language for controlling house appliances, lightning and the likes.

I think all of those documents on Kazaa are along the same lines - tricking you into sending YOUR login and password to some shady looking address.
