I am a big Traveller fan, and Far Future and Marc Miller are putting Traveller V5 in PDF format and selling the CD. Actually they have T5 in PDF format on the Citizens of the Imperium forums only available to people like me who paid for T5 in advance and let us become beta testers for the new gaming system and allow us to give feedback on the new T5 changes. Oddly enough, the T5 PDF files, while not copy protected or even watermarked, never found their way to file sharing networks unlike a lot of old RPG and Gaming materials already have. Most Traveller fans don't want Traveller to die out, so they refuse to pirate the PDF files for T5 and Mongoose Traveller, despite a lot of the Classic Traveller, etc stuff already been scanned and put on file sharing networks already.
In some cases, piracy of the Classic Traveller materials got enough people interested in the new T5 materials to buy them, and some even buy the Classic Traveller CD set from Far Future to support Traveller and make sure that it survives to the new settings and new T5 system.
Besides Google has Google Books that has a lot of books available online for free and while you cannot read a whole book you can search through it enough to find what you need so that you don't have to buy the book. Even if their are partial previews, they allow enough info to learn what you need and you can search through the book, chapter by chapter, and in theory read the whole book for free. I don't really see a difference between reading a book for free in Google Books or downloading it from a file sharing network for free before actually buying the book later to have a hard copy and see if you like the book enough to buy it. In a library or book store you can read the whole book for free anyway. Then decide to buy it or not, based on how you like it.
In that way Piracy actually helps people decide what they want to buy, provided they like it enough to buy it after previewing it. I myself have bought books for $20 to $55 or more, then finding out later that the book was useless or I didn't like it, but I was stuck with it and out of money and had to buy a different book that was better. Reviews really don't help, as people are paid to shill for a book and write a good review even if the book is horrible. Besides the person who liked the book and wrote a review, might not like the same things that I or anyone else likes to see in a book.
Actually most bibles are read in church services, most people who own bibles have pastors and priests and other speakers read them out loud in public for them. Just selected verses, not the entire book.

IIRC Firefox didn't exist for MacOS 9 and lower, they only made the Mozilla browser up to 1.0 or something and then dumped Classic MacOS support for Mac OSX support. I know as my son has an iMac G3 system that can only run MacOS 9 and not OSX, and it is hard to find some web browser for it besides iCab or old versions of Netscape and Mozilla.
That is about the truth. Most people pirate games because they either cannot afford them, or want to try them out before wasting $60 on buying the game only to discover that it is not very good and they don't like it.

First OOXML is not approved by the ISO yet. So by Office 14, the ISO will approve of a final format and OOXML support can be added to Office 14 and I am sure Microsoft will release retropatches for older Office versions to support it as well. There have been massive online campaigns for ODF and against OOXML, this is Microsoft's way of silencing critics of Office 2007 that it does not support a true open standard.

What I am talking about is having a Worlds of Warcraft native Linux version, just insert the CD, install, then play. No messing around with command lines, using malware cracked versions to patch it with, tweaking system files, changing WINE configurations, using WINE addons, and even still having game freezes and lockups even if everything is configured correctly.

Windows users don't want to do half-a-million steps, and use malware hacked files, and then still have freezes and lockups just to get WINE working properly to run games inside of it. They want an OS that works the way they want it to work, and native software programs that don't need crappy things like WINE to work, and native driver support for their third party software that is reliable, and an easy to use and configure OS that doesn't need complex steps to use, it shouldn't force the average user to read books or web pages, or to even think, it should be intuitive enough to work that the user just clicks the mouse a few times and takes no less than a few minutes to get things working. This isn't that hard to figure out. But really stupid people don't understand that, and thus they fail to see why Linux hasn't caught on as well as Windows has, or even Mac OSX is catching on. Windows and Mac OSX don't need too much work to get things to work, unlike Linux.

Either that or try experimental drivers that need kernel headers and code tweakings to be able to work with modern gcc compilers and Linux kernels.
Run Linux in a virtual machine, fine and dandy. It is one more step towards weening people off of Windows and into Linux. Now all you need are the software programs and drivers that most people need to get things done.

You'll note any fast food menu, almost every item has a large level of sodium in it, now check food items at a grocery store. Do it, you'll be shocked. High sodium levels also cause fat. Now look at all of the "low fat" food items and notice the amount of sugar or sugar like chemicals like fructose, dextrose, etc which are sugar chemical crap that do the same things as sugar and cause people to gain weight and have more cravings for more food as well. But they don't want to call it sugar, or else people won't want to buy it.
Eating the right kinds of foods can help people lose weight, like nutrisystem or weight watcher meals that don't have the artificial crap and growth hormones in them.
Grocery stores are getting smarter and now have a small all organic and all natural food section.

Just use an old version of Windows or a small Linux like Puppy Linux or Damn Small Linux and install a media player that can play CDs and DVDs.

The only way you can get more than that is to have a retro computing collector contact you to buy a certain brand of laptop that can run an old version of MS-DOS, OS/2, BeOS, etc that the newer laptops won't run. Some retro computing fans still want to run their old legacy software and new laptops won't do that, and virtual machines aren't good enough to run the old video games 100% the way they should be run. First OOXML is not approved by the ISO yet. So by Office 14, the ISO will approve of a final format and OOXML support can be added to Office 14 and I am sure Microsoft will release retropatches for older Office versions to support it as well. Most likely going back as far as Office 2000 or Office 97.
Microsoft knows that OpenOffice.Org, Star Office, IBM Lotus Symphony, and other office suites already support ODF, and Microsoft does not want Office 2007 to be the pink elephant that does not support ODF, and Office 2007 users couldn't open up ODF format documents from friends and coworkers, and would flock to Office 2007 alternatives to open them up. Microsoft knows that would cut into Office 2007 sales as most ODF office suites are free to download and use.
Microsoft also knows that many governments have already decided to support ODF format documents, and if Office 2007 doesn't get ODF support, sales will go to Microsoft's competitors.
There have been massive online campaigns for ODF and against OOXML, this is Microsoft's way of silencing critics of Office 2007 that it does not support a true open standard.
Microsoft knows that MS-Word and PDF documents have already started to be replaced with ODF documents. Also the old RTF format no longer meets the needs of Internet documents anymore and MS-Word format is just a modified RTF format. Just as Adobe lost control of who uses the PDF standard, Microsoft knows that they can get control of the ODF format from Sun/IBM etc as well.

Please read how to get Worlds of Warcraft working under WINE, the average person doesn't want to take that many steps to make it work, plus using a hacked/cracked version that might have a trojan inside of it stealing data.
What I am talking about is having a Worlds of Warcraft native Linux version, just insert the CD, install, then play. No messing around with command lines, using malware cracked versions to patch it with, tweaking system files, changing WINE configurations, using WINE addons, and even still having game freezes and lockups even if everything is configured correctly.

Windows users don't want to do half-a-million steps, and use malware hacked files, and then still have freezes and lockups just to get WINE working properly to run games inside of it. They don't even want to RTFM or RTFA about what they need to do to force WINE to work the way they want it to work or Linux for that matter. They want an OS that works the way they want it to work, and native software programs that don't need crappy things like WINE to work, and native driver support for their third party software that is reliable, and an easy to use and configure OS that doesn't need complex steps to use, it shouldn't force the average user to read books or web pages, or to even think, it should be intuitive enough to work that the user just clicks the mouse a few times and takes no less than a few minutes to get things working. This isn't that hard to figure out. But really stupid people don't understand that, and thus they fail to see why Linux hasn't caught on as well as Windows has, or even Mac OSX is catching on. Windows and Mac OSX don't need too much work to get things to work, unlike Linux.

It is great to promote Linux, but the big reason why most people don't use Linux is not because they cannot run it, but because Linux doesn't run the software they want to use.

Another reason why people don't use Linux is lack of third party driver support. Most people can get video and audio support, but wireless, NIC, winmodems, forget it unless you like using NDISWrapper and hope you can hack the Windows drivers to work properly without dropping your connection. Either that or try experimental drivers that need kernel headers and code tweakings to be able to work with modern gcc compilers and Linux kernels.
Run Linux in a virtual machine, fine and dandy. It is one more step towards weening people off of Windows and into Linux. Now all you need are the software programs and drivers that most people need to get things done.

The food industry wants people to get fatter and eat more food so they can sell them more food. That is why they add in the artificial crap that slows down metabolisms and cause people to crave more food. One of the ways they do that is to keep adding in more sodium to food, so it makes people more thirsty and they no only drink more soda (which also has high levels of sodium in them) and also makes them crave something to eat with that drink, so they drink more and eat more. You'll note any fast food menu, almost every item has a large level of sodium in it, now check food items at a grocery store. Do it, you'll be shocked. High sodium levels also cause fat. Now look at all of the "low fat" food items and notice the amount of sugar or sugar like chemicals like fructose, dextrose, etc which are sugar chemical crap that do the same things as sugar and cause people to gain weight and have more cravings for more food as well. But they don't want to call it sugar, or else people won't want to buy it.
Eating the right kinds of foods can help people lose weight, like nutrisystem or weight watcher meals that don't have the artificial crap and growth hormones in them.
Grocery stores are getting smarter and now have a small all organic and all natural food section.
Vending machine companies are now serving all organic and all natural food and beverages and California has banned the artificial food and beverages in their state because they know they cause most people to get fat. In that respect California has been able to get people to lose weight and become healthier. Many public schools are following this same trend.
All of them blame the food and beverages that are artificial for weight gain, and have scientifically proven that eating healthier food and beverages along with exercise and following a doctor's plan can help lose weight. They also prove that people like you are ignorant of the facts, and don't know what you are talking about.

It is not enough that fat people get discriminated against in every aspect of life, but now they are being blamed for global warming and food prices.
Some people are fat not because they eat too much food, but because they have a slow metabolism that doesn't burn as much food as a skinny person with a fast metabolism. There are a lot of "Jughead Jones" people out there that are skinny as a rail, but eat more food than obese people are accused of eating, but burn it off really fast.
Meanwhile a 275 pound person with a slow metabolism eats salads and lower portions of food, and also exercises but cannot seem to burn off enough fat not to be obese anymore. Their bodies think that they are starving, so it slows down metabolism even more as part of a survival mechanism.
Sure ignore the obvious that the price of oil and gas are causing more people to burn more fuel and also raise up the price of food that is transported using oil and gas, as a cause for global warming and high food prices. When people panic like the oil and gas might run out soon due to higher prices, they end up using it more in a panic mode. Truckers are starting to go on strike in protest of high gas prices, but no, blame the fat people for higher food prices, not the people in SUVs burning gas and oil, and not OPEC and oil companies for raising oil and gas prices, and the higher oil and gas prices causing higher food prices as the cost to transport than food is passed on to consumers.
Just use an old version of Windows or a small Linux like Puppy Linux or Damn Small Linux and install a media player that can play CDs and DVDs.
Give them out to friends and family members that are too poor to afford their own CD player or DVD player.
For Windows there is the K-Lite Codex Pack that has a DVD player in it and Media Player Light. You don't need a modern media player for that.
Also if they have a built in modem, they can have a cheap dial-up Internet terminal.
Many charities will take them as donations, like those who donate computers to a third world nation like Wings of Hope. You can also donate them to poor public schools and churches who would use them or sell them off at a flea market when they try to get rid of surplus equipment, books, computers, etc. I am sure you can write off each laptop for like $100 each, as they wouldn't be worth any more than that.
The only way you can get more than that is to have a retro computing collector contact you to buy a certain brand of laptop that can run an old version of MS-DOS, OS/2, BeOS, etc that the newer laptops won't run. It would have to be one that has driver support for a classic OS that is no longer made or supported anymore. Some retro computing fans still want to run their old legacy software and new laptops won't do that, and virtual machines aren't good enough to run the old video games 100% the way they should be run. MS-DOS and DOS gamers want hardware that isn't Winmodem type in which the driver has the firmware they want 100% driver support in DOS so it has to be a real modem not a winmodem, it has to be a VESA compatible video card, and a sound blaster 16 audio card, and maybe a network card that has DOS drivers.

Herman Hollerith wrote the algorithms to calculate the US Census in 1890 I doubt the US census has been changed since. Most US Federal Systems are still using old technology. I think the US Census is still calculated by IBM mainframes and IBM was founded by Hollerith and the Census contract got them started in business.
The language and OS may have changed, but the algorithms should still be the same.
