This was certainly meant to be several insults in a single sentence anyway, an instead it provides a good idea of the rethorical level of US neocons: under the belt.
I didn't realise 'The Simpsons' was really neocon propaganda - thanks for pointing that out.
I had a look with 'links' and can advocate 'links' as the secure browser of choice. No sound no pictures and I can view the source.
As seen with links:
Our lawyer has informed us that we need a warning. So, if you are under the age of 18 or find this offensive, pleae leave immediately [ CLICK ME ] GNAA > j00 fristage postage is mine Lastmeasure last measure last-measure nero institute
The source is quite fun but I can't get it past the lameness filter as it bitches about too few characters per line even when surrounded by or if I use 'Code' formatting...
function delkey() { if (event.keyCode == 46) alert("LAST MEASURE VERSION 3.2 BY PENISBIRD.\nStarring:\nSpin\nTubgirl\nLemonparty\n Bob Goatse\nPenisbird\nPillowfight\nChristmas\nRusty's Wife\nWhat the fuck? That guy's ass is showing in his baby's picture!\n\n\nAdditional (actually fucking working in v3.2) popup-blocker-busting by goat-see\n\nPROPS TO GNAA" ); }
Well commented code as well!
/* let's figure out what the fuck kind of browser the poor plebs are using:( MSIE gets a special kind of last measure where I start off with a ModelessDialog and pop up from it. Gets around google toolbar. -- goat-see */
Anyway, in summary use links for your browsing safety!
I use Windows at work too and I've never owned a Windows box. In fact I've never owned anything with an x86 for that matter - I started off with a Sinclair Spectrum so I've had plenty opportunity to get one too! My current home computer is an MDD dualie which I'm posting this from using links via ssh whilst at work...
I had one last week at work with XP Pro. Some little speech bubble popped out of the task bar telling me that I wasn't using my desktop shortcuts enough and would I like Windows to delete them for me. Fuck no you prying OS - if I want to delete them I'll delete them. Then a few minutes after dismissing the dialog it pooped (heh! made a typo but I prefer it this way) up again asking the same friggin question! Cue a wasted five minutes tracking down the option to turn off this retarded feature...
Other examples:
o Do you want to use MSN Messenger? - No! I'm trying to do some work! o Your disk looks full, shall Windows fuck around with all your files? - No! I'm doing a build, I am creating temp files, I know I have enough space and I don't need son of clippy telling me what to do!
Happy at home on OS X where this kind of crap doesn't happen.
Should have bought a UPS then;). Seriously Apple are marketing filevault as a means of securing data on laptops and not hiding your mp3/divx/pr0n/Al Qaeda Plots collection from the feds.
Laptops are more vulnerable to casual theft and may well have confidential data on them - MI5 had a rash of stolen laptops a year or so ago - so encryption there makes a lot of sense. Of course a laptop with a fully charged battery has it's own UPS which is nice.
It makes no sense to use IBM's SPECmarks as the basis for comparison because IBM's machines are different and more expensive. IBM also uses different compilers, compilers that don't come with Macs.
IBM's C,C++ and Fortran compilers are available for the Mac - download them if you want. And since a PPC970 is a PPC970 whether it is in a Mac or an IBM it does make sense to consider IBM's SPEC results.
But with the iBooks the resolution is the same whether you go for the 12" or 14" so in your case you would not see any more music sheet area. That is why the 14" is a waste of money - get the compact 12", save money and get a sharper screen.
2. More efficient turbofan engines instead of the gas-guzzling turbojets on the Concorde.
One thing I've always liked when flying BA is that the inflight magazine haa 'top trumps' style descriptions of all the aircraft in their fleet - from little things that fly to the scottish islands up to the normal jets and then Concorde.
Sadly since Concorde is gone so too will be it's description. The engine stats amused me the most. The smallest planes would have props then endless 2/4 turbofans on Airbuses and Boeings. Concorde's 'four afterburning turbojets' certainly sounded well overclox0red in comparisson.
OSX uses BSD userland apps (that way nobody will try to make them rename it GNU/OSX)
The main point about BSD with OS X is that there is a BSD personality sitting on top of the Mach kernel rather than the apps. Of course having the BSD personality means it is easy to build and run BSD apps and Apple provide many. However there are some GNU apps there too and not just gcc:
bash-2.05a$ man grep | tail -n 15 BUGS
Email bug reports to bug-gnu-utils@gnu.org. Be sure to
include the word "grep" somewhere in the "Subject:" field.
Large repetition counts in the {m,n} construct may cause
grep to use lots of memory. In addition, certain other
obscure regular expressions require exponential time and
space, and may cause grep to run out of memory.
Backreferences are very slow, and may require exponential
time.
Yes, Tom Baker is great but he is as mad as a crate full of squirrels. Ananova reports that he reckons Melinda Messenger would make a good assisstant because:
'Melinda would be good as she can scream and has bosoms. It doesn't really matter if she can act.'
I didn't realise 'The Simpsons' was really neocon propaganda - thanks for pointing that out.
No - he designed transparent alumin[i]um using an original Mac.
I get a mighty 22.17fps running the Timedemo at 1280x1024 with my MDD G4. Look out Earth Simulator I'm after that number one spot!
Well, there's this fly by night company.
...but your grep isn't going to find them. You want something like this:
/usr/share/dict/words | wc -l
Weatherleys-Computer:~ james$ grep cei
155
Yeah - don't dis the might VMS!
Here's some snippets anyway:
Nice function and variable names:

From the PearPC site:
Not too quick then!
Don't know about Indy cars but F1 cars only need to be doing ~100mph to stick to the ceiling.

The MMX multiply and add instruction is PMADDWD. It takes 3 cycles on a PIII or Athlon and 8 on a P4.
That does seem to be their suggestion. When I found a company that was using IIS the advert changes to:
A shining endorsement for IIS - obviously Netcraft are under-reporting all those sites that are ashamed and/or afraid to admit they are using IIS!
Yes I did learn something but it would be even better if the damned 'feature' wasn't there in the first place.

You can worship in China lawfully.
Lawfully yes, freely no.
Heh! It really has - take a look as long as it's still 31Oct otherwise avert those eyes...

Kernel32.dll is not the Windows kernel - that would be ntoskrnl.exe. Kernel32.dll contains the Win32 functions.

and if its gay porn, does it get sent to c:\dev\null ?
No, it gets posted to slashdot of course!
