    Now what happens when I am walking at night and spot a landed UFO with an alien in the bushes - Just how am I supposed to run to a store, stand in line, rent the camera and get back in time to snap a pic before the alien is finished taking a piss???

    Then I installed Linux at work on a spare server (supposed to be for DRP but what the hey!). The best part is that I set it up with PXE support. I have about 25% of the company running linux without touching their OS on their systems. Just set the workstation to network boot and presto Linux (similar to Knoppix). They like it alot better 'cause they are sharing a 2.8Ghz Xeon with 4GB of RAM. Most were used to PII300's. They can always skip the network boot and boot into Windows but they are doing it less and less now Especially since I have really cool games on the server =).

    I hope to have the whole company converted by christmas!

    Actually the ping will never traverse the same network. The data will go over the postal network and a single ACK will come back over the telephone network. Data loss will occur at unacceptable rates due to the medium (postal service) and ACK loss will be high too (Telco)

    What we need is something built from the ground up to handle messaging, document management, workflow and calendar/sched.. shoehorns are great but in a little while your feet start to ache.

    I used to work for a clone manufacturer a long time ago who made IBM PC and AT clones. Every time we built a new model it had to go through CSA testing (Canadian version if UL). When we got them back I swear that some of them were still smoking. To top it all off we had to use working parts! If it did not boot it did not pass inspection.

    Mr Bean would use a toilet for a water cooler 'cause Mr. Bean knows that a toilet has aproximately 1.6 gallons per flush which is much more efficient than some old small pissy assed water pump....
