Seriously! Who hasn't played Edgar Allen Poe with their Sims character, walling them into a room to see how long it would take them to die....or was that just me?
It sounds like you're looking for something that you can just draw the screen the way you want it to look with all of the controls and such. It sounds a lot like the Visual Basic interface (or any of the visual programming tools). Obviously buying Visual Basic to do layouts is silly but there are other freeware programming tools that work the same way.
A quick search came up with Lazarus.
In addition, game reviewers tend to review the types of games they enjoy playing. If a review company has a guy on staff that really likes fighting games, they'll likely give him the fighting games to review. This kind of thing likely tends to skew the results as well depending on the quality compared to other games within the same type.
I've had a mythtv box set up for several years. While I don't have any problems running my own setup, I expect that my parents might. For them, I've built a setup similar in function but requiring multiple devices. They have a ReplayTV for the PVR capabilities and a Mediagate MG-35 for the video-on-demand functions. That setup works better for them even though there is an additional remote.
If it were that simple to just kill off a format because the industry wanted to prevent piracy, then CDs would be gone and we'd all be listening to DRM controlled next-gen audio by now. CDs have been copyable much longer than DVDs.
I keep hearing that the Blu-ray vs HD-DVD is just like the VHS vs Betamax from the past. There is a real problem with this analogy. With VHS vs Betamax, there wasn't any existing technology that did the same thing (unless you count reel projectors, which I don't). One of those technologies HAD to win because the market demanded the technology and there was no alternative.
The Blu-ray vs HD-DVD debate leaves out the very important aspect of existing DVD players and recorders. The market isn't really demanding a newer prettier picture quality or better sound or additional features that don't already exist on regular DVDs. With DVD-R camcorders now catching on in the consumer market, there's an even more compelling reason to stick with the older technology. It's an added feature the neither new format supports.
I predict that Blu-ray and HD-DVD will go the way of DAT and SACD. There may be a new format in the future but it's too soon and not advanced enough to take over the market. There will be a niche market for them just like Laserdisc for the true videophiles but that's all.
I would like to congratulate the Japanese government for solving all of its countries other problems. I mean, they must have solved everthing else if this is somehow now a priority to them, right?
He won't get a chance to 'defend himself' unless he decides to counter-sue. The MPAA will simply drop the case and move on to a less aggressive victim.
IMHO, the more advanced the console is, the less capacity it needs on the media. Back in the PS1 days, a large portion of the disk was dedicated to pre-rendered video and audio. The graphics on the new systems are advanced enough to produce the same quality video on-the-fly using an instruction set that is much smaller than the amount of space needed for the pre-rendered stuff.
So if the games don't need the extra space, the compatibility with movies is the only real reason to choose one media type over the other. Since I believe both new DVD formats (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray) will fail, the added cost to the PS3 isn't worth it.
Reagan's Star Wars project never worked either but it was enough of a threat to cause the USSR to come to the peace table. It doesn't have to work...people just have to think it does.
I don't know if it's the best idea in the world to go to a hacker conference and brag about how secure your new OS is. That may come off sounding like a challenge to the attendees.
Education sounds like a great solution to the world's problems but it has a very significant problem. Very little is taught in this world that doesn't have some sort of social, political, or economic bias to it. For example, several years ago, there was a big uproar because the word problems in math textbooks all used white christian names for the people involved in the problem. While this sounds like a silly thing to be concerned about in a math textbook, it does show a bias of the society that produced the book.
And that's just math. I won't get into the bias where it involves history or political science.
Actually, what they will do is start to synchronize the commercials on all the different channels so that no matter where you switch, you'll be seeing an ad. The various media stations will collude to make this happen because once people realize this is happening, they won't bother switching channels anymore.
I believe this is already the case with many channels that happen to be owned by the same company. It's just a matter of time before they all get together.
My question is how are they going to install this software that shuts down your computer? It seems to me that if you've already stopped auto-installing updates from MS, it would be tough for them to put something on your machine to shut it down (although nimda might just have solved that problem for them). And how far back are they going? Windows 2000? Windows 98?
Speaking of customer confusion, does anyone know what the packaging on the different HD media is going to look like? Anything short of a different size box or really bright colors (xbox already took bright green) is going to confuse people (especially when the dumbass clerks start stocking them in with the regular DVDs).

Nothing to see here...in fact there probably never will be anything to see here.

So what scored the lowest? Individual freedoms? Constitutional Rights? Fair use?

You didn't hear it because it happened in the tubes.

"This room is an illusion and is a trap devised by Satan."
I cried.

I guess I won't be needing that Swedish piracy insurance now.

You gotta love that imaginary math!
That's odd... at google.cn 6-4 says 6-4=2.
I can't find a flaw in that.
Did a U.S. Congressman seriously use the word 'troll'? And everyone thinks they are out of touch!
