Ahhh, Stunt Island. There's a program that's screaming out for a modern day remake.. It was like a machinima production studio years before the term "machinima" was even coined
I used to steal electricity.. at first it was just the occasional pocketful, but it soon escalated. Before I knew it I was running carloads of electricity across the border at a time, running a major smuggling operation and selling to some of the underworld's most shadowy consumers of electricity.. it's a slippery slope, I'd advise you to stay well clear
well, you've already been modded to +5, so I'll just chip in to say you've hit the nail right on the head - anywhere you sit in for any length of time is providing a service beyond just food.. already a lot of them provide wi-fi and stuff (from what i hear, anyways.. we don't have fancy stuff like that where I live) so this is just an extension to that
Ahh, Timecube:) It basically IS the ramblings of a madman.. What I've never figured out is whether he's a genuine nutcase, or just a very dedicated troll. There was even an interview with him on a TV show some time back - there's torrents of that floating around somewhere. Try googling "timecube interview"
If you like that, another favourite net crank is SOLLOG - try googling him, and be sure to check out the wikipedia article
Thanks for doing that.. horrible, but important, too. Seeing them aligned that way with the before/after switch really hits home the devestation. I can't get over the ones of Banda Aceh City - it's just unreal. Imagine your town or city turning into *that* on just another ordinary day.. it beggars belief
There is probably some wavelength of light or sound that penetrates common clothing materials and reflects from or is emited from skin. Infrared comes to mind. Does it give you the right to post naked pictures of everyone who doesn't walk around in aluminum foil wraps?
With any distributed computing project I'm always wary of what becomes of results once they're found - one of the things I like about folding@home is they're very clear about this. Having looked through the page for this project, as well as the software's EULA, all I can see is a statement to the effect that access will be provided to non-profit organisations, and that it won't always be in the hands of IBM. This doesn't seem very clear to me - can anyone clarify this further? Is there any risk of a large company (say.. IBM) claiming ownership of the results of this project and using it for profit?
To bad folding@home can't seem to do more than 1 job without requiring manual intervention these days..
Just out of curiosity, what problems do you encounter with it? I've been running the windows version for a couple of months, and haven't had any problems with it getting it's work done - though I have found it doesn't play nice with any programs that run full screen - keeps trying to take the screen back, even if it's just running in the tray.
I'm very sorry to hear that, but in that case the death was caused by an intoxicated driver - illegal drugs weren't the problem, the outcome would've been the same had the person been legally drunk on alcohol. The death was caused by the person driving intoxicated, needless to say an utterly irresponsible and selfish thing for any person to do, whatever the cause of the intoxication.
Nintendo has seen off the Lynx, Gamegear, NGPC, and many lesser systems.. okay, you said serious competition, and the Lynx at the very least committed suicide (typical Atari), but the Neogeo Pocket Colour was a pretty serious contender - good system. Still didn't stand a chance against the gameboy though.
Oh, and then there's the GP32 - awesome little machine, and it's carved out quite the niche for itself in homebrew, emulation, etc.. it's not really in competition with the gameboy though.
On record, Sony never had a failed console or system
Two generations of one console (PS1, PS2) isn't enough of a track record to judge from - yes, they stormed the market with the Playstation 1 and 2, but the same could be said of Nintendo with their early machines. Nintendo didn't have their first failure until the virtual boy (NES>Gameboy>SNES>N64>Virtual Boy>GBA>Gamecube>DS). Not that I'm saying that means anything, I just don't think it means much to say Sony haven't failed yet.
According to Union Carbide's history timeline the Bhopal incident was the result of sabotage, yet I can't find any reference to this in any other source - it's invariably referred to as an accident. It seems a bit of a bizarre claim for them to make, especially in one isolated part of their site. Can anyone shed any more light on this?
As soon as any "cheap labour" country such as India attempts to improve conditions for workers/environment, etc, it raises export prices and the big markets of the west go elsewhere. At the end of the day who actually economically supports the crappy conditions which lead to these kinds of events? There is an alternative, it's called fair trade - it's a simple principle, based on paying people fairly for what they do, and best of all you don't even have to hug any trees.. info here, here, and here
Other posters have addressed the many problems with your post adequately, so I'll not re-tread the same ground.. however, you might find this pagean eye-opener
Give it a try - That is a test given to japanese 12 year olds, and the full thing consists of 225 such questions. Time limits are given on the questions (more are max 2 minutes), and you're not allowed a calculator. Still feel so superior?
Man, I need them to get those servers back up! I've got a whole pile of journals to not read. I'm getting behind on my ignoring

So I will try to make Gambas as coherent, logical and reliable as possible
;-) it's going to be more coherent logical and reliable than ;-) your project aims statement ;-)
Well I certainly hope

Yes. This is my hobby.
Next?

you were referred here from 127.0.0.1 which is a HUGE porn, warez and mp3 site
DON'T go to that site!!! I went there and they hacked my harddrive and put all my files on the internets!!!

There is - hold it a couple of inches in front of your face, and stare straight for a minute or two, and the magic eye 3D goatse will pop out at you

*blinks*
I know that's modded funny, but... it's just crazy enough that it might work (always wanted to say that!)
Seriously, would it be possible to figure out a way to write a particular interference pattern to a DVD to burn a hologram?
It'll be with you in 5 years.. ..and you'll need it to run Duke Nukem Forever.
