The department of CS here at the university I attend tried to switch the operating systems class over to using Java. What kind of crap is that? I can understand it from an algorithm/"know the technique and apply it anywhere" viewpoint, but come on. If you're gonna learn the guts of an OS, at least learn it in the language it'll most likely be written (C/C++).

I don't think there's much to worry about (famous last words?)

Some profs seem to not like students having a laptop in class but I feel that if a student isn't interested in the lecture anyways, not having a laptop isn't going to force them to listen... they'll draw or read another textbook or just flat out leave anyways.

Forging email addresses, maybe not quite misleading subjects but others clearly are guilty of that, abusing open relays overseas, disguising the mail's origins... it's fraud, pal. You'd think as a former cop he'd realize that.

I'd love to know what he's basing this data on. I myself never respond to or even READ a piece of spam mail, because most often that mail will never get to them, or they won't care. Reminds me of Homer: "Facts schmacts... you can prove anything remotely true with facts." (or something like that)

The only hard part for me is gonna be deciding on what I wanna do for a thesis. I was told by a professor (almost exact words) "If you can't decide then you're not ready." But what he didn't realize is that I have so many fields of interest it's very difficult to narrow it down.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings... I guess it just depends on which college you're at. Job market seems to really suck ass right now (believe me I know first hand) but as I was planning on going to grad school in the first place, I guess it'll (hopefully) work it self out. I hope.
