(Civics really don't need much of a spoiler at all, and certainly not huge spoilers as seen in "Fast and the Furious"). There's a huge difference between making a car fast and making it look fast.
But how will people know it's a race car if it doesn't have a huge wing?!? But seriously, all those big wings do is add weight, drag, and take AWAY traction from the front tires. I've only seen one Civic that's been modded that looks good, and it's my friend's. He's proud of it, and I don't blame him. It's the first Civic I've seen that's got nice, clean lines, no wing, and no decals, and a body kit that actually reduced curb weight (albiet, only by roughly 10 pounds). In fact, it almost looks like it could have come from the factory the way it is, except for the rims and the slight lowering. As for performance, it's got some aftermarket headers and air filter. He also just got a new exhaust system setup, and it's a lot quieter and smoother sounding than all the other rice farters. Most ricers seem like they're burping for air when they're struggling to accelerate. You might wonder why he bothered with a Civic, but living in Wisconsin, it's not a bad choice for a car that drives nice in winter and will also last a really long time.
Indeed. Put a hole (or large bump) in the street, but try and make it so it's not that noticeable until it's too late. That way, all these morons who lower their Civics and Integras way too low will hit them, and bottom out. Or maybe start pushing baby carriages (minus the baby) into the street in front of them. Then they'll make a sudden turn and end up in a lightpole.
Indeed, hands on approaches are the best. However, I think there needs to be some written (ie, textbooks) references. In other words, hands on approaches need to compliment the written matierial. Perhaps do an experiment to get the students' attention, and then teach the why and how. I don't know about most people, but when I see something cool, I want to know the hows and whys.
Although, back in high school I used to have the most fun combing combustion and chemicals to give off smoke.
textbooks that are written kind of like A Brief History of Time or other such books. Of course, they'd need to have to be more indepth and whatnot, but if ideas and concepts were introduced in a more entertaining and inviting way, people would be more interested in learning the details. I did not read the article btw, I don't feel like registering.
Agreed. Gran Turismo was *the* reason I wanted a PS2. When it came out, it had possibly the best graphics out there. I have yet to see a racing game with better graphics that is also a good racing game. It is the only game that I find myself consistantly playing. Well, occasionally I'll take a break from it for awhile, but I always come back to it. I think 4 is supposed to be out in Japan late this year, so hopefully we'll see it in the States around Christmas time.
I grew up on NES/SNES and probably spent more time with Metroid (well, maybe Contra) than any other game. However, I think part of my loyalty to it keeps me from wanting to play a new Metroid. It just wouldn't be the same. Same goes for some of the other NES/SNES games that now have Gamecube counterparts. So therefor, I have no reason to buy a Gamecube, since, as you said, none of the Gamecube games really grab anyone by the yaggs and say "BUY ME!"
I suppose that's why the vast majority of users are using GUI driven OS's these days, and not DOS or other command line interfaces. I suppose it's also why we're using office suites instead of FRED (or whatever that word processor was on the Apple IIe). Oh, and if you actually read my comment, you'll notice I said "a lot of OSS projects", and never once said even said "office suite", ffs.
Nice to get a head start on what we'll be cloning next year;)
What's sad is it is all too true. Instead of innovating, a lot of OSS projects that are supposed to be like MS apps usually just mimick, rather than truly innovate.
Actually, cars WILL benefit from technology on the high tech cars. Sequential gearboxes are starting to make their way onto more accessible (in terms of price) cars. Basically it's a trickle down effect in a way. Also, what allows the S2000 to be refined? Technology and engineering.
For that matter, where is the Enzo? As close as you can get to F1 by THE best F1 team around (Ferrari). F1 is by far the most technologically advanced racing series, so a car such as the Enzo should be on this list.
All in all, I think they were going with newer technology that isn't seen on most cars, and excluded exotics. However, right below the headline it says: Spectrum picks the 10 most technically sophisticated cars for 2003. So I say again, where are the cars that are truly the top of engineering and technology?
I wonder if geeks should use these after being in the depths of their basements for so long at a time. Maybe include a tanning bed inside so they can get some color too!

does this mean we can take all of microsofts money? Then dismantel the company, and sell off its assets? After all they support terrorism by giving money to charity groups that have been linked to terrorist groups by our own us goverment. hmmmm ideas?
Well, we should first find out if MS is buying drugs. As the commercials state (and we must believe commercials from/paid-for-by Government sponsored agencies/groups/etc!), buying drugs funds terrorists! I mean, god knows there are legions of terrorists growing pot in the regions where pot-smokers live! We might as well just nuke Humboldt County* out existence! And since Canada is known to harbor the terrorist province of British Colombia*, we must also take them over!
*I am fully aware much of the pot(decent stuff at least) comes not from Humboldt Co. and B.C. (hence the term beasters), but rather from local growers and suppliers. I merely use Humboldt and B.C. as references that are commonly accepted by those in the know. I also use "those in the know" jokingly.

if a game NEEDS all that eye-candy to sell then gameplay sucks.
Exactly. Immersive gameplay can keep me hooked forever, but flashy graphics last about 15 minutes before they get old. Now, if you have a game with great gameplay, AND great graphics, well, you can't go wrong. For example, compare Gran Turismo2 to Gran Turismo3. The gameplay is basically the same (it's a driving game, can't have too much variation really). GT3's graphics are still, IMO, some of the best on the PS2. GT2's were also great for the PS1. However, the graphics in 3 aid in the gameplay, in that it's a lot easier to see. Now lets just hope GT4 has more cars than 3.

Except to itself. There, I did it. I made an anti-MS comment. MOD ME UP. LINUX RULLLLLLLZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! LOLOMG!!!!
I don't mind dupes. What I hate is all the duplicate posts telling us it's a dupe.
Anyone know if they'll release DVD ISOs? I think for previous versions you had to be a member or whatever.
It would be kinda nice to download just about every package and put it on one DVD.
Until you drop it the second time. Or you're just not as lucky as with your experiences.
There must be some driving force that makes the committee system work better for the K-12 textbooks, but what is it, I wonder?
Why, it's 10,000 monkies at 10,000 typewriters!

A little common sense and some personal responsibility seem to be sorely lacking in the populace today.
That's not my fault!
users don't fucking WANT innovation ffs

Yeah, but what was the MPG of the Excursion/Insight system?
I bet it was immense. In fact, I bet one of the reasons were going to Iraq for oil is because of this stunt.

Insert used ICBM into Space Shuttle (or equivalent)
Not only would an ICBM be tough to use, but a *USED* one would be even tougher.

Well, protecting our freedoms by taking them away is pretty logical. Soon we won't have any freedom to protect.
