Actually, in the next generation hybrid cars (Due out in 2003 or 2004) according to a Popular Science article, these hybrids will have boosted acceleration. The electric motors coupled with their standard engines gives more power for acceleration. However, the electric motors are not as efficient at higher speeds. If I recall the article correctly, Dodge believes they could reduce 0-60 time by 2 seconds if a system were put on a Viper. I vaguely recall something about 200 extra horses, but I can't say with any certainty that's the case.
I believe the "Big Three" are all also going to be putting out hybrids such as SUVs and trucks in the next couple years.

Funny. I watch very little TV as it is. I maybe watch one program on the discovery channel, tlc, or the history channel at night, usually before going to bed. That and I'll probably be watching the Simpsons at dinnertime when the syndicated episodes come on at 6.
That said, I find I don't have enough time in the day to do everything I want. Work during the day and evenings (depending on when I get up, how much work I have, etc). If I'm not working while I'm home, I try and either get some 3d graphics stuff done, or more traditional art. I also try and have a social life. I find that there just isn't enough time to get all the stuff done I'd like.
I could probably stand to spend less time surfing around sites that are pretty trivial, but that probably only takes up about an hour of the day, so I can't see that really giving me all that much more time.

On a side note, I find the moderation of my post, and of the parent post right after this thread funny. How can mine be redundant when it was posted a minute earlier? I know, I know, no use in talking about it, but the moderators are for sure on crack.

Well, they found pits in the rocks that indicate they've been used repeatedly (perhaps for generations) for the same purpose. Using another object for a specific task repeatedly is a tool, no? Okay, so that's not the exact definition of a tool, but it sure fits the criteria for a tool if you ask me. The stones also took a degree of skill to use, and could take 7 years to master. Hit it too hard, and you smash the inside of the nut, hit it too soft, and you still get nothing. So it's not a matter of just smashing things with a rock. The younger chimps apparently practice too as well, using smaller rocks. One thing they haven't done though, is create tools of different shapes and sizes.

I for one, won't bother watching an analog (tape) copy of a film that's in the theaters, mostly because of the quality. I want to see it in it's full glory. However, thanks to DVD ripping, file sharing, and a cable modem, I sometimes will download a movie and watch it on my PC, as I can get a decent picture and sound. I rarely do this though, as I mentioned before that I like movies in their full glory, and sitting a few feet from my 17 inch monitor and my okay sounding speakers doesn't really cut it.
Then again though, I'll gladly watch a movie on my TV where I can lay on the couch or bed (that's what I'm talking about full glory) with just the TV's internal speakers.

What's funny (or sad perhaps?) is that this review came just a few hours too late for me. I grabbed a copy from my friend's video rental store last night and watched it. I had heard from a few people that it was good, and the store has a limited DVD selection, so I decided to grab it.
One thing that bothered me was the realism they claimed to try and achieve. This had me thinking that the movie was at least somewhat realistic, even if it wasn't based on any one particular mission during WWII. If it had been marketed as a WWII action shoot-em-up with guns and torpedos, I would have no problems whatsoever. And really, I thought parts of the movie were kind of entertaining, but it was way too predictable. The forshadowing in the movie (Bill Paxton telling Matthew Mchognngngougngoy that he'll need to sacrifice the lives of some men to save the whole crew) were less forshadowing, and more "this is what is actually going to happen".

All in all, I'm happy I didn't have to pay for the rental.
