\i{n other words, one card does 150fps at the highest quality settings, another does 155fps, and when both of them are run on my 80hz refreshing monitor, the results are exactly the same.}
THANK YOU! I've never understood this insane obsession with fps rate. As long as you have spare graphics capacity (50% probably would do it), it doesn't matter, since you will only see what your monitor can refresh at anyways. In other words, if your monitor refreshes at 85Hz, if you get 120fps or above, it doesn't really matter how much faster than 120 it is.
DISCLAIMER: IANADE (display engineer), and I don't know if LCDs muck up this analysis.
I recall hearing an old joke about Jesus up on the cross. He calls for Paul, and tells him that "Paul, I can see your house from here!" (joke redacted for size).
If EM interference is an issue, your cabling may cause a problem too... They're a bit pricier, but what about a FibreChannel drive? You've got an optical data path -- no EM interference. Yeah, the adapters cost more, but consider the overall cost for the lab, and the potential EM worries avoided.
Unfortunately, certification and classes cost somewhere in the range of several thousand dollars. If money isn't coming in, where and how do you pay for it?
Remember, some of us laid off types have families to feed and mortgages to pay.
type Feet is new float; type Meters is new float; function Feet_To_Meters(Number_of_Feet : in Feet) return Meters is var
Temp : float; begin
Temp:= Feet;
Temp:= Temp * 0.3048;
Feet_To_Meters = Temp; end Feet_To_Meters;
It's funny (in a VERY sad way) that to him, the cash register was this magic oracle that told him what to do, and that it didn't occur to him that what he was doing was even knowable without its use.
Read Isaac Asimov's short story, "The Feeling of Power".
Since the source code to Linux is out there, is it possible for them to cut and paste it into the SCO UnixWare code and pretend it's theirs
IANAL. However, the code in question should come out during discovery, and since there is some form of source control, it should be possible to get the person who put the code in question into the kernel on the stand to state under oath whether they developed it themselves.
There has grown up in the minds of certain groups in this country the notion that because a man or a corporation has made a profit out of the public for a number of years , the government and the courts are charged with the duty of guaranteeing such profit in the future, even in the face of changing circumstances and contrary public interest. This strange doctrine is not supported by statute nor common law. Neither individuals nor corporations have any right to come into court and ask that the clock of history be stopped,or turned back, for their private benefit.

I think you've hit it on the head, with both 1 and 2, as well as some of the expository comments. As a matter of fact, the last job I was hired at, I specifically asked if I was allowed to "have a life". Had they taken it the wrong way, or said no, I would have refused, even if they had offered me a job. I have a wife and two children, and do not intend to be out of my kids lives.

That's what SCO *wants*.
2. The code is in some laughably insignificant or obsolete part of Linux,
Didn't they; say it was in the multiprocessor support portion of the kernel?
There has to be a DMCA violation or a potential lawsuit in there somewhere....
"Your honor, by memorizing his passwords, PhsBlue is depriving us of potential income!"
It's much older than that.

If $1500 per month is killing SCO, they're in worse shape than I thought.
Moderators. Mod this guy up! He's pointing out that the OP's comment is a red herring.
ANd you failed to patent any of them. Too bad, you could have been richer than Jeff Bezos!

Close! But why use the temporary?
Because I couldn't remember the syntax for casting between derived types (it's been several years).
Yeah, I realized I had some more typos, and I couldn't remember the rules for derived types, hence the temporary float variable.
Bummer.

I second Eisberg and Resnick. I used the 1980 edition back in the day, when I took Intro to QM, and recently read an updated edition. Still good.

Unisys didn't exist until "The Power of Two" thing.
Prior to that, it was Burroughs and Sperry-Univac. The "Power of Two" campaign was to promote the merged company, renamed Unisys.
Maybe the EU should look into dumping charges against MS, if they offer to give it away for "free"...
who really is your friend
It's obvious. The enemy of my enemy is my friend!

And what about those of us older guys who know (from experience) that we'd suck at management?

Hell, since the requirements were a 386/33 and 16MB Ram (and this was for NT4 Server!), I'm not surprised that it runs well on that box.
