Just did a quick Google - appears to be a quote from Steven Wright. Guess I should cite my source :)

I've never used their discussion boards (to be honest I rarely use Yahoo). However it sounds to me like they need a system for moderating comments. Perhaps have a few trusted users given this ability.

TFA doesn't say why the current systems has been pulled offline prior to a new system being put into place. I'd hazard a guess though that perhaps they want to start beta-testing various new methods shortly and that would be easier to do with the old method gone.

I for one have to admit I fail to see the point in HD.

As a kid I saw movies every chance I could get if they appealed to me. There's nothing like seeing a great movie on the big screen (and in those days they were big, not the piddly little things they have at multiplexes these days).

Today with the cost of going to the cinema I keep an eye on the up-coming trailers. On the rare occasion I see a movie that appears to have a good story line + good SFX I'll spring for the ticket. If it has good story line but SFX are not major part of the film I'll wait for the DVD.

Even on the largest wide-screen TV SFX can't match that of the cinema screen. I'd personally prefer a decent audio system giving cinematic quality reproduction. Audio atmospherics enhance the experience to a far greater degree than visual.

I live in New Zealand where we have different laws covering this sort of thing. In fact I'm not even sure this kind of advertising is illegal here. False advertising is, but whether it covers this medium I can't say.
However whether or it is illegal the issue is Joe and Mary Public's knowledge of how the Internet works.
Banner and popup advertising, whilst annoying is ok with me, people do need to make a buck. However I have a fair idea of what is legit and what isn't. Perhaps more resources need to be spent educating those who are not so fortunate as to have our experience and knowledge of these issues. MS-DOS was born in August 1980, in Tukwila, Washington, the creation of Tim Paterson and the Seattle Computer Company. Initially called QDOS 0.10 (short for "Quick and Dirty Operating System"), MS-DOS was a lifelong resident of the Seattle area. In late 1980, nonexclusive rights for 86-DOS 0.3, as the operating system was then known, were sold to Microsoft. In July 1981, as Paterson recounted in a June 1983 BYTE article entitled "A Short History of MS-DOS," Microsoft bought all rights to the DOS from Seattle Computer and changed the name of the operating system to "MS-DOS."
