Damn! People can be so dense!
You think the bombs blowing up in the Paris subway went unnnoticed? Well, by the likes of you they did, but not over there!
Mind-stunning indeed. The rest of the world has been concerned and trying to do something about terrorism for years, the fact that you need a LIVE TV BROADCAST of terrorism to even take notice should tell you that you are an egocentric prick, not that only your country cares. Jeez. Did you even read what the leaders of the other nations said about 9/11 after it happened? The things about "we know what its like to be terrorised, we'll help you guys" went well over your head huh?

the US looses its huge technological advantage over second world countries like the EU

The EU? The Freakin' european union is your idea of "second world countries"? France and germany and the likes? Your grasp of international politics/economy is quite impressive!

The world will be a mess and it will be because of whiners like you destroying the worldwide US surpremancy.

I so wish I could slap you right now...

You think that the US playing around with FINANCING, TRAINING AND ARMING TERRORIST is helping the world? How about putting dictators in power so they'll turn over the ressources to US companies while they kill and torture their citizens? The US isn't a benevolent big brother, its a worldwide bully that doesn't care who it hurts so long as it gets the other countries' lunch money. Don't kid yourself. The US might have its own citizen's best interest in mind (I said "might") but it sure as hell doesn't give a damn about the rest of the world.

There are a lot of good things and people in the US, but there are a lot of nasty stuff to. You, sir, are one of them.

Massive climate change has happened in the past without man's help. And some of those changes have been much more extreme than what we have witnessed in the last 150 years.

Yes, and people die of natural causes so murder is ok huh?
Just because there have been other catastrophic climate changes and massive extinctions doesn't mean we are not causing this one and that we should just keep repeating our mistakes and let it happen or make it worse.

I believe that dealing with a little extra heat in our enviroment is more manageable than dealing with ice a mile thick. YMMV.

Say that to the next flood/hurricane/tornado that destroys your town.

We are not heading for an ice age. Sure, there seems to be an ice-age cycle and we would be approximatly due for a new one, but in geological terms, the error factor is of thousands of years. Plenty of time for civilisations to rise and fall. In the meantime, we have caused a hole in the ozone layer, we've made the planet way more radioactive than it was before, and we're buring the forest and even the fossilised forest really really fast. You think that's not a problem because it isn't in your own back yard, but we are doing it, its happening, and its dangerous. So we don't know exactly what will happen because nothing of this scale has ever been done before, but we do know that we are causing a climate change. How do we know? Because of rational thought, it goes like this: For every action there is a reaction of equal propostion. We are dumping megatons of climate changing pollutants. You expect that there will be no reaction to this? Do you also expect Santa to bring you gifts at Xmas?

I'm saying that it may be much more dangerous then a lot of us would like to believe.

Yeah, I mean, look at all the babyboomers...they are all braindead by now eh? All the ex hippies all got so brain damaged they became mentally ill and went homicidal and ... oh, no, that's right, they didn't. They became normal middle class drones...damn.

Jail has nothing to do with what's best for the criminal, it has to do with punishment for a crime.

Indeed. I'm saying: Pot smoking should not be a crime. The goal of criminalisation was to protect the public from becoming hopelessly addicted and incurably insane from that evil devil's weed. It was stupid and that mistake should be rectified. They stopped alcohol prohibition when they realised it was a lost cause. but for some reason they keep on with the pot laws as if they were a god-given holy law.

If we believe that the trafficking of a substance is dangerous, we want to deter that crime with a serious punishment.

Indeed. That is why I want the Monosodium Glutamate producers/dealers to get death sentences. Its addictive, it makes people sick, and it causes brain damage in rats (when injected in large doses).

But that doesn't justify the jail sentences for simple possesion. If the dealing is the crime, why is the buyer's life destroyed? (The pot doesn't destroy the pot head's life, the cops do.)
I know a few regular pot smokers (and a bunch of party pot smokers), I don't want their lives destroyed. I don't want them thrown in jail. They can smoke tobacco and drink beer all they want, but a joint could make the police destroy their life. That's not right!

If pot is not this substance, then ya, it's kind of rediculous and we should change the laws. I just personally haven't made up my mind yet.

I propose a very unscientific and dubious experiement: Go rent a heroin movie (Trainspotting or Requiem for a dream) and then a pot movie (Half Baked...can't think of another good one right now), and see if they deserve to be in the same category.

Here's a link that supports your "its bad for you" line of thought.
Here's what I think about it: DUH! Well, if you're smoking pot every day for years and you suddently stop and take a test, of COURSE you'll do bad! And of course students and yungins shouldn't smoke pot! These things (pot, booze, cigarettes) should only be used by grownups, and only when apropriate.
But when you're old enough to vote and go get killed to protect your country. You're also old enough to make your own choices about drinking or eating or smoking what you want. If the governments don't want you too, they should educate you (without lies) and give you resources to help you get back on their idea of the right track. Not destroy you if you use your free will to do things they don't agree to.

Hey, I wouldn't even mind if they kept the dealing laws, because it is possible (if rare) to be addicted to pot, and so anyone who's dealing in it has an incentive to encourage abuse and addiction, but responsible users don't need to be marginalised for their choices.

Listening to music requires a certain amount of concentration which isn't available for navigation - there is a finite amount of stuff you can attend to at one time.

    Well, speak for yourself.
Anyway since the jacket doesn't play the music but simply gives you access to the controll of the other device from another company, they wouldn't be liable. They could also put a disclaimer/warning/cover-our-ass-gimmick label in the jacket that says "Don't listen to music while performing a task wich requires your full attention, such as skiing, snowboarding or operating heavy machinery while drunk and fighting rabid monkeys", and state that is designed for use in the chairift and the easy controlls are there for easy shut down before getting off the chairlift and it prevents frosbite and so on.

I personally find that music can enhance concentration in some cases (a very familiar tune for instance).
