We don't actually know how long it too to approve the Google+ app anyway. As apps are not automatically made available when Apple approves them.
And as a matter of fact, there was two versions of the Google+ app inside of a hour. So there is the possibility of them having submitted a second version and waiting for that one to be approved - and then by accident releasing the older version first.
When did Apple become MPEG-LA? They hold a very small number of the patents that is in the H.264 pool (I seem to remember it is only 1). When it comes to video codecs, Apple is just a company that tries to protect itself against patent suits.
Nobody would ever admit they have an updated product coming, until they are close to releasing it. Official confirmation of a new Wii would kill the sales of the current one. So they would have to be ready before doing so.
As a reprecentive on the Macintosh Liberation Front I hereby state our intention of eliminating all enemies of the Macintosh nation. This is not terrorism but rightful war against the terroists of the non-Macintosh world.
OK... So I checked it out. And clicking the first link (to the Directory) I got an 'Unspecified Error'! Ok ok... So all of./ is hammering the site. But does ANYONE remember seeing stupid errors like this on sf? Or ANY errors?
But then again. If you are going to use this place. I suppose you a M$ supporter and have already exchanged your dictionary with one that describes a bug as a 'break enforcing feature that makes sure you will always find time to drink your coffee. And reconsider your work (when you rewrite it)'. So of course it should be implemented on the project management site too;)
Acturlly Apple is much more likely to include AAC (MPEG4 Audio) support than Ogg. Rumors will even have it that they already have some support for it in iTunes internally.
Also PDA OS'es are made for this screen size AND to BE a PDA. Windows (or whatever) isn't. They generally require much more resources and still can't deliver the basic funtionality most people want in a PDA (like near-instant access to calendar and address book).
Sure. If you need a small PC box to carry around it may be nice. But it's not a PDA killer.
Well. Maybe becurse it has the exact shape and almost the exact same buttons on the front. AND it seems to use sofrware that looks exactly like the software on an iPod. Apart from that it's not a clone at all.
Uhm. Until recently it was practically impossible to get an Intel based PC without Windows. And still almost all PCs are being sold with Windows.
Sure Apple ships their OS with their boxes (acturlly they still ship both 9 and X BTW). And everything else would be silly. As the article says Apple isn't that interrested in upgrades. The reason is simple really: Apple makes their money from hardware. The first many years you could download the latest OS from Apple from their FTP site for free!
Well considering Apple did a pretty good job of closing down Mac OS X in the default install. I'd say yes. Nothing is really open to possible exploitation unless the user chooses to open it.
No. Not really. There is no binary compatibility with the worm (99% sure it's an Intel worm). So it won't infect Mac OS X boxes. But none the less it's a good thing they keep up-to-date with the open source components they use.
Well. Until recently there where no real hardware options for servers made by Apple. The XServe changes that. But at a price a lot of people that runs some random Linux webserver would never pay anyway.
Linux and BSD is pretty popular especially as 'free' webservers. You have a spare box (or get a new one cheap), hook it up with the lastes UNIX OS of your choice and run Apache. Cheap and stable.
For more serious shops they what things Apple is only getting around to now. And still why use Apple hardware for webservers if you can run almost the same webserver on a box from your usual dealer. That's why Mac shops use Apple hardware for webservers. It's confortable to use the same dealer for everything.
Well it seems a lot of people has some missunderstanding regarding Sorensen and Apple. So let's get it right: Apple don't own Sorensen what Apple owns is the exclusive right to distribute Sorensen for use in video playback (wich is why they complained when it was going to be used in Flash also. They have to enforce contracts like these or they will be invalid).
This isn't redistribution however. As far as I understand it's a standard QT for Windows that's running under Linux (that's what Wine does. Makes windows apps run under Linux - right?). So it don't change anything. On the other hand someone posted that they have reverse engineered some of the binaries from QT. Depending on if it's Apples binaries or Sorensens one of the two might not like that (Sorensen most of all perhaps. Since they have an interrest in protecting their technology).
Heh. Just thourght it was a good time to bring up good old Bill Parish who spend some time a couple of years ago looking into MS accounting pratices and claimed they don't really make money at all... Haven't been updated since November 1999 tho.
You are only 'good' at at game if you can win it without breaking the rules. And the whole point of the SEC inventigation was to see if they did. Now they have agreed to not break the rules they didn't break in the first place if the referee won't look at what they are doing.
Well. If you had read the article this is under you would know that Apple has an exclusive contract for usage of the Codec. So although you can do with just the codec. It wouldn't be legal unless it is a QuickTime codec.
Since one of my domains was also registered directly at Internic (back when it was called that) I got an email that NSI are migrating their domains to a new webbased admin app.
And I recently got an email that the domain in question had been migrated. And that they would be sending out new logins at some point soon...
Impossible. Slave 1 (Boba's ship) is also shown in the trailer. And as you know (if you know your Star Wars universe): Slave 1 was a special design made by Boba Fett (based on a Firespray). So if the good old Star Wars consistency is in place. It cannot be a his dad.
Also note that Boba is quite an old rat in Empire Strikes Back. So it should be possible for him to be active some approx 20 years before ep IV

Nah. Why should they?
Well. If you don't defend your copyright. You loose it. If someone gets to reverse engineer your code and you let them. Everyone can.
Yeah. I was wondering that too. What the hell do you connect to a 'Biology U Port'? (I could speculate but that would quickly get out of hand ;)
As a reprecentive on the Macintosh Liberation Front I hereby state our intention of eliminating all enemies of the Macintosh nation. This is not terrorism but rightful war against the terroists of the non-Macintosh world.

(Yeah. I'm a mac user alright

LOL. It's obviously a doctored example.
As most unix'es the name name in the prompt is the hostname.
Also he forgot to update the prompt where it shows location... It acturlly works in real life... Really, It does! Trust me!

Just look at versiontracker each day and you will be made aware of Apple updates too. Even if they are only available via Software Update.

As the release notes state the gcc3 is expermiental and not for production usage.

So I'd guess that's the problem here.
Right. And he wanted Linux or BSD...
No problem. Don't want Mac OS X with it's GUI. Do one of two things:
Type >console at the login prompt and you get full screen terminal access (after you login at the new prompt)
OR. Just install Darwin instead. Not exactly Open or NetBSD. But it's pretty close.
Well. Perhaps one of the PPC Linux distributions even works on iBook. Donno.

Less space (1 gig). But it is also a great deal smaller than the Nomad. This one will easily fit in a jacket pocket.
Nothing huge. But it moves a bit further than anyone else right now.
