So is it on principle -- namely to punish Motorola for not putting out OS updates

You will punish Lenovo/Motorola by giving them money for the phone and then never using their after-sale support (updates, hotline, etc.)? That's a weird way to look at it. You are probably one of their favorite type of customer.

Many of the more interesting skill gems are only available after character level 19/24/31. Some even have to drop in game (not available as quest reward).

PoE has such a complex system of skills and support gems that you can make many skills do what you want. There are the "Faster Attack" and "Faster Projectiles" support gems, as well as several skills that can "fill the screen" as you put it - gems like "Fork" and "Chain" that can be applied to any projectile skill, or "Increased Area of Effect" for any AoE skill. Of course it takes some time to level your character and the respective skill/support gems to reach that level of destruction.

The thing is that most non-IT companies outsource IT operations to dedicated IT companies. In this case you don't choose the level of competence of individual admins, you just agree to (buy) some SLAs for the different activities. In my experience it is much easier and cheaper to find an outsourcing company to take care of your Windows machines than it is for Linux, AIX, HPUX, Solaris or other UNIX(like) systems, not to mention mainframes and stuff.

I understand people can and should take vacations, but it is quite common to have the relevant support staff (usually a single person) leave without having anyone else available for at least some urgent cases. Just wait two weeks until this one guy comes back? That's not a good way to do business.
Also don't get me started on 2 hour lunch breaks. When I read TFA, I was surprised this guy even saw 3 hours of actual work - my experience says it's one hour before and one after lunch.
Of course there are exceptions to this. But they are just that - exceptions.

I encourage you to compare Diablo 3 (very clearly an AAA title) to any of the other recent ARPGs (most notably Path of Exile).

AAA titles usually have good sales due to hype, but that doesn't equal to game quality in my book.

Actually you should look at the value of the target to be hit by the missile, not at the value of the missile to be intercepted. You can destroy infrastracture and equipment worth of millions of dollars with a single missile, not to mention that most of the stuff that is destroyed can't be replaced instantly. The $100,000 cost of the interceptor is small compared to that.

It copies all the files to a temporary location on the system partition (consuming that much HDD space there) and then when you tell it to burn the files, it creates an ISO image on the system partition (you guessed it, consuming once more it's size of HDD space), which it burns afterwards. The system partition must therefore have over 1GB of free space to be able to burn a standard 650MB CD (almost 10GB for a DVD!), not to mention the useless copying between disks.
