Using your right thumb to freelook on an analog stick makes for an unnatural hand posture.
Yeah, but is way, way more natural than to have one hand on the keyboard and the other moving the mouse around (I try to avoid the use of the mouse. WindowMaker and Mozilla do wonders for this.)
No keyboard/mouse configuration can beat sitting on your compfy couch, with a controller in your hands. And, on some games, it is an advantage to have 2 analog controllers, instead of 1 mouse (you can control easilly how fast you run, with various degrees of precision. Try to do that with asdf).
Pc gaming cannot win this discussion. The joypad was made to play; the keyboard to work. Yes, it is more configurable, and gives you more keys to control.
Don't forget that books, music, movies, and television shows were already blamed fot violence and decadence of the society. Idiots already failed at proving any relation, so they moved to the next target.
The bottom line is, that people are responsible for their own actions. Any attempt to blame something else for your own actions, is just some cheap lawyer trick.
Yeah, you are right about n-philes (great site for nintendo fans, by the way).
However, they are only repeating something that gamespot and gamasutra announced. The truth on those announcements depend on how much we can trust a couple of analysts outsiders to the industry. Do note that, after Sony passed the battery life ball to the developers, not one of them has announced an "expected battery life" figure. EA Sports CEO refused to talk on that topic.
Makes you wonder...
I have to point out that, since the psp is expected to play movies, it should have a battery life of, at least, 2 hours, with the disc always reading.
However, the FF7 movie, advent children, was already announced to last 70-90 minutes.
I think that the psp will have a battery life that depends on the game, like Sony said (since developers can make a game that loads a full game, and never touches the UMD again). However, this will take away from developers a favorite technique to cut on load time; dinamic load during gameplay (some people call it streaming).
So the psp will take sony fanboys back to the time of the original load station! yay! Perfect for a quick game before classes start!
The fact that it has a multiplayer option, doesn't mean the exploration part has been lefty out!
This isn't "Metroid: Arena". In single player, there are not bots to kill instead of humans.
If nintendo adds a proven game style to an already existing game, more power to them. They have some of the best multiplayer games around; mario kart, smash bros, mario party, wario ware, zelda four swords; it was time they added some good deathmatch.
It settles a precendent, in which previous fair use is now illegal.
You know, if they claim their scheme is some kind of drm (they don't, read the print.google.com faq), and some court buys it, you will no longer be able to save images from the web without some legal concern.
Putting a transparent gif over the content is something you can work around, I don't think it would be a good measure to prevent copying it (what if you go to the site with lynx).
However, if you don't want to me to be able to look at your content and copypaste it, you have 2 options.
-Work some encryption scheme, in which a program can read the info, but only displaying it as an image, not as text (you still can take photographs, but I think most people would consider this illegal).
-DON'T PUT THE FRICKIN CONTENT ON THE WEB!!!
I pray those half assed copy protection schemes don't get to be validated by some stupid court...
Mmm, I said it as a joke, but, you are partly right. Google tries the best to keep freedom of information, like in the scientology suits, when google was forced to remove the links, and google put a notice saying "we can't provide you a link to those sites http:www....." so you could just copy paste the results. But also has failed to do so sometimes (the recent china problem comes to mind).
Yes, these are all advantages of gmail over Yahoo mail or Hotmail. But not over locally running email clients. Why use gmail if there are apps which are completely ad-free, work with any number of great spam filters, are faster than gmail, and work without a network connection?
I'd like to see you send email WITHOUT A NETWORK CONNECTION! It would be a technical breakthrough, but probably you would be sued out of existance by isps.
Seriously, web-based email is good for this simple reason: if you connect from more than one computer to the internet, is a hassle to go around installing whatever client you have in mind. If your are planning on connecting to a remote server, lets say, via ssh, you still have to download putty, etc (if you are on windows).
While with the PSP, (which will use a 1.8gb optical disk), you can play games like Gran Turismo 4...Hmm, wonder what I will choose...
You will have to choose between the electric plug of your room, or the electric plug of your living room, because with only 90 minutes of battery life, your psp may go dead in any moment of your gaming.
Hey sony fanboy, give up. Nintendo designed the great product. Sony just put together some powerful hardware, praying that it would work.
Yeah, there have been periods where the strong yen has put ninty on the red, and many idiots start saying OMG N1ntendo is teh dead!
Now, that Yen is weak, and all those euros and dollars count a lot, and Nintendo has proved themselves with the ds, it woudl be a wise move to diverify.
Nintendo has also made anime before. The pokemon anime is a great success, and has helped the game outside japan.
a good part of my collection comes from recorder game music, or emulated game music (in one, I record the music from an emulator, or a real game, in the next I use some plugins for winamp that allow you to play music files ripped of playstation/snes/etc titles).

But will never be more comfortable.

Requiring the food manufacturers to put on the label the ingredients of the food isn't regulation, is just free market.
The real free market can only work if all the parties involved have perfect information
George Lucas -> Boba fired first? (how do you "fire" a laser gun?)
:)
It was greedo the shooter that got slower on the new editions.
You forgot some evil guys...
Nintendo -> OMG! they have patents on emulators and roms! we can't pirate their stuff!
R. Stallman -> There is nothing former about this communist
IBM -> yeah, they are mostly good now, but some folk around here is old enough to remember when they were bad.
"There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty:
soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. Please use in that order."
-Ed Howdershelt (Author)
Well, it looks like ballot and jury aren't working anymore...
Yes. They are evil.
You know, they read peoples mail and send them publicity based on that.
Because it is a bad thing.

No, this is just idiocy on google's part.
If they don't want people copying the book's content, then DON'T SEND THE BOOK TO PEOPLE'S BROWSER!!!
I think it is fair use, if someone sends you, some information, to keep it. Any other interpretation is just asking for trouble.

Yeah, Free Speech is dead.
Now is better to your health to be talking about the Fantastic Four.
Hey, do you remember when Doctor Doom conquered earth, and was actually a benevolent dictator? and solved problems like hunger and war and crime?
Cool!
More respect! their rendition of Galactus and the silver surfer still kicks ass after all those years!
Maybe they shoudl consider rereleasing those as flash movies...
Nintendo DS?
It rocks.

But, technically, it is only sent when you get a internet connection, doh.
Is this "Google's Internet" better than the "internet" my isp provides?

Because Microsoft just pushed the VC-1 compression system for its use in Blu-Ray.
I think they want to play a double game, not giving enough support to Blu-ray (while being a crucial player) and pushing a competitor.
People must also keep in mind that Blu-Ray will not be cheap around the expected release date of the Xbox2, so it may be not an evil move.
In fact, not a lot. Check the historical prices of YHOO to see that he only was wrong by ten dollars a year later.
:)
I have two questions for Paul about this:
1) How do you calculated the price to be $12 dollars?
2) Where is Arc, Paul?
Yeah, there have been periods where the strong yen has put ninty on the red, and many idiots start saying OMG N1ntendo is teh dead!

(and what am I missing?)

Yeah, I am a fanatic.
But trusted computing to the OSS world really means that no processes will run on my machines that I didn't specifically authorize
You are running processes on your OS operating system, that you DIDN'T authorize?! WTF!
By the way, even with Trusted computing, buffer overruns, and exploits will still happen.
Yeah, and 15 years after they crushed all competition, they will get a terrible slap in the hand, everything wiull be forgotten.
