you don't have a mouse on your pc, which is _better_ for this?
No, it isn't. You need a analog stick. The mouse would not be precise enough, because a lot of times you need to press exactly to the right, and with the mouse you get right and a little up, which sends your monkey to oblivion.
and really.. pc has had analog sticks available for 16+ years..
But they are not standard to the pc user, like a mouse, or a analog stick in consoles.
Face it. Keyboard + Mouse is not the perfect control for everything just because is better for FPSs and RTSs.
Check out the "exact timing FAQ". It has methods to pass 10 or more stages, just pressing forward at some moments, pausing at a given time, pressing other direction, unpausing, and winning.
This is for the spider stage. It works like fucking magic:
ARTHROPOD: Do not move at the beginning. 41.08-41.18: hold forward. 36.16-36.26: hold up-left. Yes, all combinations of values in these ranges work! I've tested all the extreme cases. This level will trouble us no more!
Maybe some people will travel with their handhelds, and buy games overseas...Don't know how big is this market, but that may be one reason for Nintendo to do this.
It's actually almost 2 years older, when you consider that MK came out in early 1992, and VF didn't come out until late 1993. I know that MK had been out for a few months by summer 1992, and VF didn't come out until late 1993 (I got hired at an arcade in September 1993).
Mmm, you may be right. But I remember that sega showed some screenshots of a very early VF Demo, almost a year before. Akira was not a ryu clone, but seemed an arab.
In playing the two games, you can tell as far as the fighting system goes, VF took more from MK than SF.
In fact, I would say that MK resembles more SF than VF resembles either.
Yes, VF has Juggles too, but their execution is very different, because:
-You cannot jump in VF without flying at a stupid height. There is almost no Jump-in. -No special movements per se. All characters had a ton of normal moves, that activates through secuences of movements. No stick commands like those in SF nor MK. -No projectiles (every character in MK1 and MK2 had at least one).
These three factors (and the 3D), made VF a completely different game. The basic ways of juggle in MK don't work in VF.
CvS EO isn't that bad. The mix of new and old graphics is horrible, and the music and backgrounds too. But the gameplay is...well, not that good.
Forget it.
I'm learning to play SF3. Seems like a good game (specially Third Strike).
I don't think that MK did such contributions to gameplay. The block button is solely used in some 3D games, and every 3D fighter (that is not a conversion from an old 2D fighter) is based on Virtua Fighter (which has a block button and juggles). Since Virtua Fighter is only a year older than MK, I can say that, most probably the game was developed without influence from MK.
In fact, the MK game that I most enjoyed, was MK3, due to the run button. I think that it made for a more dynamic gameplay. The dial-a-combo was crap, though.
I think that the importance of MK lies in the fact that was the game that promoted more than any other, a clasification system for videogames in USA.
I guess that means you won't be able to play with them online. And, if so, what the freakin' point?
Dunno, maybe...playing with some friends locally?
MK used to be played with people in the same f*cking room...
(I can't understand why there is such a craze over this title. The MK series has always had horrible gameplay, and the reviews for MK: Deception say that this "feature" remains.)
Old news for the fans who have been tracking down those devices for a long time.
(I would like an explanation about how a brilliant Super Mario 64 port is a bad thing.)
When sony will spill the beans about the psp price? Battery life was already kicked into the developers yard, so I expect that most games will have small load times before gameplay (2-10 seconds) so they can put on the game box "Expected battery life: 3 hours".
It pissed me right off when I saw CNN and FoxNews cover the story of about 12 people pouring French wine down the gutter but not covering the millions of people pouring through the streets in support of the French view of not invading for stupid reasons.
That's very good, and all, but I fail to see how such legislation would prevent CNN and Fox to present only one side of the story.
Why this "hate-speech" is tied with slave traffic?
I think the politicians are just trying to make the two problems like one, so they can pass a law to cut on free-speech, because, you know, nobody can support slave trade...
I get that impression from RTFA...maybe I shouldn't read before giving my opinion.
They do more advanced prediction in action games like Unreal Tournament, but I don't know if it would be fast enough for a sports game.
Why not? Balls travel way slower than most rockets, bullets, etc. The athletes also run slower that those wacko UT characters. And Sports have a very simple terrain to play, and only 23 (in soccer) things to update. 22 players and a ball.
The problem, I guess, is that it would take a lot to coordinate a eleven man team (for soccer again), to play at the same time. Yeah, vacants could be filled with AI or other players, but it isn't the same.
Also, if they organized a league (the logical thing to do), the losers would discourage very fast, eroding the game.
However, someone else can come up with solutions to these problems (a better league system, smaller teams) and rack in the bucks
If the judge demands that the documentation for Microsoft APIs is open an available for everyone, how is delivering said documentation in a form that only IE can read, meeting the judge demands?
Yhe problem is not the precision of the mouse, but the way you move your arm, which makes awfully hard to move in a precise direction.
While using lynx, I make gestures like I was using a mouse!
Does this count?

The times are time ranges in which you can pause.
Apparently, the PSP will be soprt a region lock too...Sony probably can't do better than that.
And the original Gameboy too...
Maybe some people will travel with their handhelds, and buy games overseas...Don't know how big is this market, but that may be one reason for Nintendo to do this.
Do'h. Well, I restate my question...
Will you be able to play Half-Life 2 if Valve goes out of business?
But, will you be able to play halflife 2 again, if sierra goes out of business?
They not only employ ninjas...they set them on fire too!!!

Ninjas are also people.
Only cooler.
it's full of incredibly violent, gory stories and pornography. many people have committed heinous crimes, driven by what they read in the bible.
And don't forget all the religious propaganda!!!
We should edit the bible and take all the propaganda out of it, so it becomes a safe book for people to read.

Well, I guess you are right. However, the bad thing is to limit the free speech, not on which side are the stablished religions in this.

VHS was worst than Beta in many fronts, except one. Tracking. Early beta players lacked this feature, crucial in VHS.
Also, Sony attempt to monopolyze the market didn't help.

Great point. Mod parent up.
I for one, doubt that this will work.
