Utterly and completely wrong. You need to apply for Permission to Give Birth for your first child. Otherwise how will they know if you've already had one? Duh. It's a standard step. Doesn't matter if one parent is a foreigner or not. I've never been to Singapore so obviously I can't be confusing things.

Ahmadinejad is just a figurehead with little real power. The Guardian Council rules the country.

You know, it's funny how the leftists have no problem with the Islamic Republic of Iran, a functional fascist theocracy, getting nukes. Remember CND, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament? They were against all nuclear weapons, anywhere, by anybody. Now, religious fanatics want them, and suddenly we have articles in The Atlantic saying that it's not a big deal, after all Iran needs them to resist invasion by Israel. Go figure, huh? 180 degree about-face, with no recognition whatsoever of the old point of view. We have always been friends with Oceania.

Nuclear deterrence is based on the fact that your adversary is as rational as you are. Islamists, Sunni or Shiite, believe that life is just a long test and the afterlife is what really matters. What do you do when your adversary loves death more than you love life?

"Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious."

  4. China's improved greatly on Half of India Without Electricity As Power Grid Crisis Deepens · · Score: 3, Interesting

When I first got to China in 2004, summer blackouts were just part of life. From 10am until 4pm, the power at my apartment just went off. I had to go find a cafe or something and sit around until the heat of the day had passed and the power came back on. It only happened sometimes, not every day. I found out later that there was a schedule for such things, but I couldn't read Chinese back then so there was no way for me to know. I haven't been in a residential blackout for years now. Obviously, things have gotten better. A big nuclear plant went online near here a few years back and I'm sure that ended the power problem permanently. It must be nice having your society run by scientists and engineers, and treating the environuts as the Luddites that they are.

Factories were on a schedule of blackouts, too. There was not enough power to go around, so one or two days per week there would be no electricity. This delayed production and caused all kinds of problems, particularly when the factory failed to inform the customer that this was the case. Factories could get diesel generators to pick up the slack, but generally the factory owners were too cheap to invest in this sort of thing.

The climate alarmists want to use the science to implement a wish list of leftist dreams that have been around forever (but THIS time, you have to do it because it's SCIENTIFIC) and the climate denialists want to use the science to support their side of the argument so they can continue polluting. It's the only TV you can watch where the outcome is not known in advance. After watching enough TV shows (and reading TVtropes), you can pretty much predict what's going to happen next. Writers are generally lazy folk. On any given Sunday, anything can happen.

Every year, is, in fact, different from every other year. I would have thought this is basic common sense, but there we are. Players retire, get traded, get injured, and new players take their place. It's like a giant drama with a cast of thousands.

Another thing is how the same game (basically) has been played for a long time and still, new strategies are being formed. Does Go suck just because it's hundreds of years old? How many ways can you lay a stone, anyway? And most Go players are douchenozzles (goes double for Chess players).

TV actors are douchenozzles too. Does it really affect your enjoyment of "Scrubs" if you know the actors have sleazy personal lives?

I'm not trolling; this is a serious question. Are you one of those "I don't own a TV" people who likes to show up and complain? How can you honestly give a rat's ass about a bunch of whiners complaining that other people are enjoying something?

Nobody's talking about that. You're talking about yourself - much like the elderly in the UK, you can't see societal problems and can only think on a selfish basis. We're talking about society as a whole - and how society can best achieve goals laid out by the government. If you're living in a 5 bedroom house with your wife and people are living in tents elsewhere, it benefits more people for you to move to an apartment and allow the government to apportion the vacant housing to more deserving members of society.

Likewise, it's selfish to consume healthcare resources like a privileged person when so many go without. Do a search on "bed blockers" to see the problems that the elderly cause. Can you really say that few deserve to live at tremendous cost, only to allow many others to suffer due to the fact that resources are not available for their care? People with high dependency indices, low cognitive function, and high rates of disease? How would you best allocate healthcare resources if you worked for the government?

Again, not my thinking, not a -1 Troll, these are the conclusions that highly qualified government workers - people with Ph.Ds - have reached. Ignore them at your peril. Do you honestly think you have the qualifications to argue, much less contradict them? Indeed, your entire post seems to be entirely selfish, as it refers to your own situation and totally ignores the less fortunate. In America, healthcare depends on ability to pay, which you seem to have. In other civilized countries, healthcare is apportioned fairly.
