  2. Ban driver Cell Phones on NYC Wants Ideas For "Taxi Technology 2.0" · · Score: 1

Let's ban cellular phones by drivers.

Where I live in Vancouver, BC, every-time I have taken a cab, the driver is talking the entire time on his cellular phone (Thankfully with a headset). Must have one of those unlimited incoming plans, but does not make me feel any safer. (Not to mention, it's not in English, so I can't at least be entertained by overhearing the conversation).

The onerous credit-card taking was also a pain - considering electronic cellular machines are used in restaurants frequently, no excuse for them not being available in cabs for credit/debit charges.

In theory, one just needs to work long enough to live off a well invested sum of "net worth" and then, one doesn't have to live off of the system. The only problem I see is that if everyone did this, the money is coming from somewhere in the end, either other people (perpetually broke), government, etc. Here in Canada, a 3% interest off 2 million is enough to live reasonably comfortably on (60,000 a year or something like that)

There worm-viruses seem to exploit IIS which exists on NT and 2000 servers. Well, if you are on NT or 2000, you can go into your command prompt and type "net send YOU HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH A VIRUS, PLEASE REMOVE IMMEDIATLY"

This message (HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH A VIRUS, PLEASE REMOVE IMMEDIATLY) will pop-up on the computer who owns the incoming ip. This is great fun because the people on the other end probably think a hacker is in their computer or something.

This is all assuming you have a method of viewing incoming requests on port 80. I use a router which has a log so I just check that and send a few messages out to the ip's that seem to be requesting more than once.

And if what he tells you is influenced by some form of remuneration, whether it's secret or not, wouldn't you prefer to be told about it?"

The thing is, teachers are paid to answer questions and therefore teach us. Search Engines do not make money by being a search engine. They have to find other income. Banner-ads do not bring in much income any more so what is left in providing a free search engine?
