I think you need to look up the definition of what a religion is exactly. According to the Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, religion is defined as: "Strictness of fidelity in conforming to any practice, as if it were an enjoined rule of conduct. R." I don't know about you, but I think evolution falls into this definition quite easily...unless of course you don't follow evolutionary theory with strictness and fidelity.
That is a very sensible comment and I thank you for it. Saying Bush is to Republicans what Clinton was to Democrats is just about right on the money in my opinion too. I couldn't stand Clinton and wondered why he was re-elected because I felt he was a horrible president. Bush is far from perfect, but he stands up for the things that obviously more Americans want than not want.
We've deployed HP thin clients at work here using XPe and I must say that though in general it works fine, there are some big gotchas. Not every driver for a given peripheral works with XPe. Many times its impossible to get a device going at all. This is because XPe is a special version of Windows. Whereas with Linux on an embedded device such as a thin client, it's the same old Linux using the same old drivers. Of course the guy should be congratulated for wanting to use Linux. Anybody using anything other than Microsoft's OSes should always be congratulated.
If you are a Christian, can't you answer your own question? Isn't it proof enough that they resist it more than any other thing or relgion (besides Bill Gates)?:)
I don't know about the rest of the engineering degress, but as reported by the EE Times magazine (sometime last year, I forget when), 2/3 of all electrical engineering students in America drop out by the end of the second year. And being a senior in electrical engineering, I saw about 2/3 of my EE friends drop. My point being that a BSEE still means a lot. It basically means you are a proficient thinker, are logical, and can problem solve in almost all areas. The problem is Americans aren't motivated anymore to do such a hard major as EE. Instead, a lot of people come from outside of the US to attend EE school and perservere through it. Why are Americans in general so lazy when it comes to hard things?
Actually, most stability problem that you see in Rhythmbox are due to the GStreamer media backend. GStreamer is still very much a new technology that at times is a little rough around the edges. It's sorta how Mozilla was for so long - very experimental before 1.0 and very unpredictable. I would expect to see GStreamer and Rhythmbox both stabalize rapidly in the near future.
Yeah, nice. Obviously you've studied the history of the Bible. Not even close...those who don't even believe in Christianity who teach Bible classes at state universities would disagree with you completely about the Bible's origin. The Bible is associated with Christianity because that's what it describes and who physically wrote the first words down. And Jesus would never advocate Buddhism...just read what he had to say in the Bible...he said there is only one way to God and it's through him only. To say otherwise is to place false words in the mouth of Jesus.
I entirely agree with your statement. Those who are supposed to be *above* the public in their supposed logical knowledge I find to actually be extremely ignorant and to have a mostly extreme bias towards a liberal political agenda. If slashdotters were truly smart, they'd mostly be classical liberals...not today's joke called a Democratic party that can't stay consistent on anything except making the government bigger and thus able to become more corrupt. Classical liberalism keeps a nice check on the government by keeping it lean. Just my $0.02
I've been doing an emerge -u world for about 2 years now and have never ever had a problem. Gentoo's install system is the most reliable/hands off system I've ever come across (though debian's is pretty darn good too).
Actually, I can't speek for KDE as I don't use it, but GNOME bases most design cues off of Mac OS X. It's stopped trying to bring *Windws* to Unix since the 2.x series started.
Yes, you are absolutely right. I couldn't have said it better myself.:) A society that looks to the government to provide everything is giving up their freedoms. Before you know it, you're 6 feet deep in Communism. Governments in charge of what people can do themselves is always far worse.
Yeah, this is on purpose. About 5 months ago there was a big to-do about this. MSN changed their site to basically not include Opera browsers. They want people to use only IE of course.
A very nice try to make the porn industry appear as a valid enterprise. There is no *business* in porn - it is simply sex-crazed people preying on a weakness in mostly men. It's deception, plain and simple. Maybe you think it's valid but how can this be unless you have no sense of morals? It's nice that you decided not to support porn companies that help spread SPAM, but big deal. Having all of that nasty porn out there is a million times more annoying and angering than SPAM anyday.
Why on earth would you do this? Who ever said Linux had problems in it's existing form? This sounds like Microsoft and what they had to do with Windows. If you have a good thing, you evolve it...you don't start things from scratch (even entire modules). Linux is definitely not broken.
Let me make a correction - I sort of contradicted myself. I like the US's current healthcare system minus having to help pay for Medicare everytime I get a paycheck. There we go.:)
I agree with you on poor public education. But I do like our current health care system. I must add that I don't have anything else to compare it to though with first-hand experience like yourself. As long as there remains a choice, I don't care what the healthcare system looks like. But if it turns out to be like our current Medicare where someone my age helps pay for it, though we'll probably never reap the benefits of it - then no I don't want a system like that. I hate paying more taxes and to me, a healthcare system that is 100% publicly funded means I have to pay more taxes and means that I am less better off in general.

Thank you! And here I thought that all slashdotters were secularists. This is a very encouraging comment posting and I'm not being sarcastic either.
Yeah, for the next issue, we plan on using the GNOME default theme just for the very reason that you brought up. Thanks for the reminder! :)
FireFox for Linux also has built in NTLM support. I am 95% sure of this.

Thanks for your comment! I just ordered the book your recommended off of amazon.com. I look forward to reading it and reading it again!
Michael Moore is an idiot. That is all.

Ok, that's valid. Thanks for letting me know that...I do appreciate that and now I take back my troll comment. :)
You sir are a troll. If I had some moderator points right now, I'd mark you as such. But I don't, so all I can do is point you out as one. Get a life.

Wow, nice troll. Obviously somebody is a biased athiest.
