Then we'll have them post a law that says you have to login to/. before making such a stupid comment. Seriously, why don't you go live in a dictatorship if you can't handle personal liberty.
Wow, I can believe how much of his own koolaid Steve has drank. Could anyone get it any less? Does he actually do any good for Microsoft or is he just a figure-head these days?
Exactly, I completely agree. Feisty has been solid for me on my Dell Latitude D820 and solid for 2 co-workers of mine on other boxes. NetworkManager is a mature app that has been around for at least 2 years now (approx.).
Taxes suck. The Canadian form of taxing on winnings makes total sense. Laws like this only keep good men/women down. Maybe it's time for a tax revolution such as this?
You're so right on! I second your comment and I say down with stupid fascist nonsense. Let people live as they may, choosing what they may. Communist/fascist/dictator crap is so last century.
Hey, guess what. Pluto is warming too! Global Warming on Pluto Puzzles Scientists We aren't causing this warming as humans. It might be very clear that our planet is warming, and yes we should deal with these effects, but there is too much unclear data as to what exactly is warming our planet. I'm sure that we contribute to the warming, but so does the sun, so does a depleting ozone layer, so do many things. There are far too many variables in the equation to simply put the blame on humans inhabiting the planet. Let's teach that the Earth is warming, but lets also teach critical thinking and present many views of it so that our students grow up to be tremendous problem solvers that think outside of the box!
Venkman doesn't hold a candle to Firebug. Firebug is fast, easy, nice looking, and blows the features of Venkman out of the water. Give it a try, you'll find yourself say Venkman...what's that?
I totally agree...I find season 3 to be some of the best in the entire series to date. I love the fact that they mix action with drama and lots of character development. Other comments have stated that they just want more action. More action would make the show more generic SciFi. Keep the show going in the same direction...it rocks!
I usually back up via rsync over ssh to my Linux file server which I keep in my basement. It works great. You could also send all of your data to an offsite server this way too incase you ever had a fire in your house/apartment. This solution is also cross platform. I would also take a look at rdiff-backup which uses rsync but it also is made for backing things up. It lets you store all of the changes on a daily basis (and it only records the changes). Restoring data is as easy as running it in reverse specifying a day or time or revision number. I use this method at the company that I'm head of IT for to backup OS X boxes, Ubuntu boxes and Windows XP/Server 2003 boxes on a daily basis to a file server which has an external USB2 hard disk.
That's interesting. So convenient on your part. I would venture to say that if you made more money (I'm assuming you're not currently), somewhere in the $60k+ range, you wouldn't have this attitude. Would you like the government to give your money away forcefully to someone else just so that it's "fair?" Why should the government be in charge of this? And what's to stop them from becoming corrupt in this which is more than likely to happen? Power like this always corrupts...you place way too much faith in a system that doesn't work because people are people. Something like capitalism, although far from perfect, allows the greedy to get what they want and it gives a non-law regulated way for anyone to also work hard and earn their wage. Communism would only work in a perfect society. Your views are very dangerous and convenient.
Very interesting and informative...thanks for the post! I did however want to ask one thing. How can you say that the healthcare is free? Don't you pay for it in your taxes? Someone has to pay for it as it doesn't just appear out of thin air.
Good for you! It's time to stand up to overbearing governments with their continual hunger for more control, more power and more money. You are taking a great stand (though it might be more effective to stay and try and influence future tax policy of Germany). When will countries learn that freedom of the people (in all ways including financial) is the most fair way of running a country. Why let the government decide what to do with your money? Do they know better what someone needs than the individual themself?
An excellent posting. Thanks a lot for posting it in the detail that you did. I plan to try out Cfengine2 now. Do you think it would work with Ubuntu desktop installs?
But of course they'd want to ruin a perfectly good thing with a new law...that's just like a politician. I mean if there's no cool new laws to write like this one, then a politician would be out of a job (or at least pretty bored).
Why don't they stay out of the American people's hair and take away a few laws. Seriously, America is becoming a fascist state. Freedom is something that is so hard to protect from politicians messing up.
I agree with you 100% on all of your points. If they could just get a better theme that looks more clean and less childish and a better naming scheme, it could really compete with anything commercial vendors have out there (not to name any names or anything).
Web pages take a lot of room in memory to store. This is due to web pages being full of images and other large binary data. This is just a fact of life and is not really anything unique to FireFox.
You're absolutely right. Plus, why post such a thing on/.? This was a very cheap shop indeed and also very telling of the current state of the editors behind/. Let's stick to the cool technology and lay off of the political crap. Us technology people need to stick to arguing about technology, not politics...at least not on this website.
Nope, this is just where the slashdot people chose to put us. That's ok, better here than nothing. I did submit it to the Linux section though. Thanks for reading the GNOME Journal too by the way!
Larry Ellison may be good at business, be he sure isn't very ethical. This is a very cold, uncaring move to dominate a market. But could I expect any less from him...not really. That's why I don't use Oracle for anything.
I have, and though they can sometimes prove pretty useful in computer programs or figuring out maximum and minumum efficiency problems, they are very limited in their use. Anyone who is intimately experienced with G.A.s would know this.
And to answer your first question, if the designer wasn't all powerful and limitless in time, knowledge and power, then that entity couldn't be the supreme being of the universe.
Wow, may I ask why you dislike Firefly and despise BSG? I haven't heard anyone say that before, I'm curious why.

Why don't you say that while logged in instead of an Anonymous Coward so that we can mod your comment appropriately.

You missed my point, read again.

Well said! I completely agree with you. People are no longer able to think and act for themselves.

2. Have you never heard of genetic algorithims?
