It really doesn't matter how many titles the man has. Magical thinking is still magical thinking, no matter how you try to disguise it by calling it "God" or a "simulation".

Either way this line of thought is only one step away from saying "you are just an illusion (infidel/heathen) therefore I can kill you if you don't do what I say". Don't believe that can happen? Please revise human history from the beginning. Because after all, if this is a simulation, how can I prove that everyone else isn't just a simulation for my benefit?

Hahahahaha. You have got to be fucking kidding me. I have been the United States on two separate occasions via air in the last few years and in both cases neither myself nor any of my fellow passengers were ever "waved on through" inspection. Everybody got the royal ass raping treatment

Being an old fart I remember the BIG DEAL when "machine readable" passports were created, and the idea then was that apparently it would save a tremendous amount of time because you could just swipe your passport in a machine and be on your way (provided the powers that be didn't want to speak to you). Hah. First, I have only ever had ONE machine readable passport (all the rest say "THIS PASSPORT IS NOT MACHINE READABLE" on the scanning line), and second I have only ever had my passport scanned by the airlines at check in, before I fly (to the US).

The lines keep getting longer - especially now that everyone except us Canadians has to be fingerprinted and photographed. 2 hours+ delays are common at major hubs. Well I avoid the US (and travel in general) nowadays not because I don't want to or can't afford it, but because it's a real pain in the ass being treated like a "suspect" from the minute you drive to an airport until you drive out of one. Now ask me if I think the US is "winning the war on terror"?

Come on. Use sunlight to melt salt to heat water? Why don't you just use sunlight to heat the water directly. Every step you add just increases your heat loss and decreases your efficiency, because no single step will ever be 100% efficient. There's nothing magical about salt, molten or not. And you can't beat thermodynamics. Ever.

Fuck you for supporting the fuckers who killed her.

Although perhaps there was more to it than that. There's a reason you were able to get out, and Mel wasn't. Addiction isn't just about the drug, it's about the user's mental health problems which keep them in a pattern of drug use. While I agree that no illegal drugs actually make people smarter and more productive (they just make you think you are), the drugs are not wholly to blame. Depression, socioeconomic problems/frustrations, anxiety, impulsive behavior, post traumatic stress disorder from childhood events like rape, incest, domestic violence - and the conditioning we have all received towards instant gratification in this modern world - these factors also have a huge impact on whether a person will destroy themselves with drugs or not.

It's not just about the drugs and the people who sell them. There is a huge demand for drugs, and as long as these social problems exist, there always will be. Blame the dealer if you want, but he's just running a business. Put him away and you just give his competitor more market share. IMO money would be better spent trying to fix the root of the problem, addressing people's mental health. But who can afford a full time psychologist? Only the rich.
