The problem with fiber is the fiber companies who lease space on their trunks, and your local ISP who is a fucking cheapskate and tries to stick 400% capacity on the inadequate space they've leased. But since they're a monopoly, what the fuck are you going to do about it? So you never see fiber speed even though you pay fiber speed.
Hopefully this will shake things up a little more. Or maybe the US will adopt another 3rd world policy and ban satellite internet use except through the state approved and owned companies:)
Out of the 250 billion we have stashed away out of reach of not only the US government but also our shareholders, we will magnanimously allow you to see 1/250th of it.
It helps to know something about the topic you post to... just an idea.
It helps to be right when you tell someone else they are wrong. Since I'm a physician I kind of have an inkling about what they do and do not teach in medical school. You are confusing osteopathy and orthopedics. Kind of like the difference between a maxillary surgeon and a dental assistant. I dare you to visit a chiropractor with a type III C compound fracture.
Eventually these smart kids will figure on putting more than one arm on the thing and cutting the build time in 1/2, 1/4, etc. As well as allowing them to do more than just one shape.
I meant scientific studies. Not 'scientific studies'. Chiropractic is NOT a branch of orthopedics. Orthopedics is a branch of surgery, which is a branch of allopathic medicine.
Sure. Said degree is not granted by a medical school though. It's granted by some other school - of chiropractic, of acupuncture, etc. I never said they were "quacks" - after all what is medicine anyway? I will state, however, that they do not follow the scientific method and cannot back up their claims with scientific studies. Even though they have thousands of testimonials from people who say they feel better. At the end of the day feeling better is what medicine is supposed to be about. But god help you if you see an acupuncturist for malignant melanoma...
Yeah, my next doctor is going to be someone who didn't go to medical school.
There are plenty of those around and there have been for a long time. Chiropractors, Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Acupuncturists and a whole lot more. They succeed because any given illness has an 80% chance of being self limited and going away on its own. That's a phenomenal success rate for these "alternative doctors", although it's no better than if you had just stayed home.
The problem is when you have something that falls into the 20%.... we who did go to medical school don't claim to be able to save anyone, but we have documented proof that we can usually offer you a more desirable outcome than doing nothing at all.
You're making the misguided assumption that votes yesterday were more effective than votes today. Don't blame an entire generation for the handiwork of a very few select individuals with actual power.
We've been living in an economic climate that actually punishes savers for almost a generation now. This is to be expected. I honestly don't care because I will be dead soon. But those robots had better get good at making stuff extremely cheaply because hungry people are the surest way to tear a civilization apart.
I am a doctor. How much is that fine? Or do you plan to extradite me and throw me in jail for stating my profession even if I don't live/work in your state?
instead the technology community needs to look at making machines do what humans cannot.
This is already happening, since humans cannot work 23 hours a day non stop without pay with just 1 hr a day average for downtime and maintenance. Jack Ma should stop making meaningless statements.
My Win 7 box will run until no more security updates come in 2020.
By then you should be pretty good at reinstalling your system from a clean image and having your data backed up, for that odd time when your box DOES get pwned. Which you really have to try hard to do nowadays - gone are the days of some random worm taking over your box just because you hooked it up to the internet.
And besides, hopefully Flash will be totally dead by 2020 and a major security threat will be gone.
Yeah, hardware compatibility is the problem. Not forcing people to upgrade - any which way they can. Funny how those newfangled CPU thingies can still run MS-DOS though.
Let me install a proprietary OS coded by some random Indian guys, packaged by Microsoft who have asked you to trust them when they say they will slurp and sell as much as your personal information that they can (you did click I AGREE after all), while whoring out your computer to serve ads.
When I signed up for Uber, there was a section where you could adjust the gratuity automatically added to your bill. The default was 20% which seems a bit steep, so I turned it down (locally it's 10% in latin america). Why should I have to tip on top of the tip? Or does the American version simply not have this built in feature?
De-orbit it so it lands in California - preferably the governor's office in Sacramento. With a little sign saying "miles from California: ZERO".

Didn't Microsoft already lose a lawsuit because of exactly this?
Successful phase 3. Extinguish.

they actually need to have a degree to practice.

Oh the irony of a website that presents its members as basically a resumee decides to ignore resumees....

Although possibly not as many virgins as are involved with warp drives.
Still waiting for the paper that "proves them right"
Apparently we can build warp drives and travel faster than light too. I saw it mentioned in many books and movies.
Because systemd is completely trouble free and not a huge pile of shit just waiting for the right fan.

It's the difference between consensual sex and rape. Meh, I've been called worse.
