"There are two kinds of tired, there's good tired, and there's bad tired. Ironically enough, bad tired is a day when maybe you won, but you won other people's battles, you lived other people's days, other people's agendas, and there is very little YOU in there. And when you hit the hay at night you toss and turn you don't settle easy. Good tired can be a day that you lost, but you don't have to tell yourself, because you fought your battles, you lived your life, your agenda, you chased your dreams, and when you hit the hay at night, you settle in easy, and you sleep the sleep of the just and you can say, take me away."
I'd agree with this EXCEPT that a person talking to the driver knows when the driver has to concentrate on something coming up and instinctively SHUTS UP.
Concentrating on Talking while driving actually distracts people from driving well. Bad drivers can often be seen doing all the talking while driving. Basic natural instinct, you cannot devote concentration power to upcoming events (getting cut off and allowing the extra space) and hold a full blown 2 way all out conversation.
Drivers do their best thinking/working shit out because the mind is alive with activity while driving, just don't ask them to concentrate on a conversation with someone else.
I Personally have no problem with Ads. I actually think ads have their place on the net. I am above all a businessman. I disagree with the deceptive, IN YOUR FACE ads that have become the norm. I have been using various "popup stoppers" for years and until I installed a new system or two didn't realize how bad it had gotten.
This is what I have a problem with, it's the obtrusive behaviour of Businesses lobbying Goverments who change laws to suit their bottomline.
The internet was a Government project and emerged as the most important medium of my generation. It will not be the most important medium of my children's generation because of the quality degradation.
It's like a independant band who you REALLY like. Until they go commercial, and make the very thing that got them there, no longer fun.
I will not address your points one by one because I think you are right for very many of them, but I will say that we do not have free speech anymore when ISP's ban websites on behalf of fear driven DMCA claims.
Oh and I pay for phone, cable, and internet access and should be allowed to choose what I see, not see what others choose for me to see.
Censorship is a grave thing, and this is why the internet, with all it's commercialism and Goverment over-regulation on behalf of business, has one foot in the grave.
The RIAA, and MPAA will want to "watch" the internet through this network and nab any Tom dick and Harry who pass music files.
Of course, independant music won't be distinguished in order to make thier stats look better "43 trillion music files were traded last year, and our revenue only increased by 2 billion. If we make each of those users pay every time they trade a file, we could make gazillion's (to quote jk) more. Of course we'd give 1 million to the governemnt for letting us use their network for our own commercial gain.
Folks, the internet is dying because it became the true meaning of free speech, communication and information. Corporations are slowly killing the net, which requires Goverments to get their hands in on regulating things.
I don't use the net as much as I did because of all the popups, spam and corporate cluelessness.

Ok one thing I didn't see (and IRTFA), was the overall "playability" of the games or applications.
Dumb down the tests and give it to joe-six pack (you know, the ones who WON'T spend the extra 300 bucks for 30 trillion pixal shading?) and see what they think.
Does it run the app fine? Does the game run smooth in a comfortable screensize?
Being broke lately, I've come to appreciate that UT2003, or Dungeon Seige runs just fine on my celeron 533 with 512 meg ram, and while a more powerful graphics card would make it run even better, my 2 year old Gforce2 works just fine.
Just fine for the Cheapo price I would pay for the same card nowadays.
Extremetech turned me off of readership in the past by their lack of credible articles, and this just reinforces why I stopped reading it.
Personal opinion should be available at the END of an article, not the beginning opening bias.
Well my Word document just decided to unfreeze and let me save, so I will end this rant.
Can you imagine if companies started to discount their software when competitors were involved? What would our economy do? Wait....that would lead to COMPETITION and competition is bad, surely microsoft sales reps realize that their software is supreme and that ALL THE BASE BELONG TO THEM.
Next thing you know, Office will be free to compete with OpenOffice and the like.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Microsoft is heading back into a world of competition. The monopoly ride was good, but now they gotta get back to selling the shit on the grounds of quality and superiority in peoples mind, even if that means selling it for less.
For me, it's a perfect sync between home, on the run and work.

Personally I have become more organized, kept in touch with people more, kept track of things more (like passwords, obscure info like new language phrases). All in all, I still have an old palm 3x, and it performs it's function PERFECTLY.
What I agree with, is that no-one should have to spend $1000.00 on a PDA, only to have it fall by the wayside months later.
For years companies have been pitting competitor against competitor until in the end, the customer gets the right bang for the right buck.
Too many times I see Slashdot going on about how evil Microsoft and how great open source is, now thanks to Japan, we have a Showcase for PROOF POSITIVE what the world at large wants to know.

MS&OS: Shit good question.
Justification is the key, and when spending money the way the Government does, getting 3, 4, 10 different companies via'ing for the business all leads to better justification.
OS or MS: We Won the Bid/Implementation because Japan wanted this this and this, we proved we had it, they didn't.
Sorry but I don't feel a tinge of guilt when colleges who did nothing to contribute are all of a sudden getting 15k+ lay off packages.

Listen, any time there is a transfer of property, the government and business tries to take their piece.
A fee to transfer the licenses to a new company is just as common as the fee paid to transfer a automobile or a realestate.
From a Software Sales Rep's point of view, MS probably gave them an option to pay a transfer fee, and said company said no. MS said WHAT? do you know who we are? BAM vito'd merger.
