It was't that way this time last week. And most of those store seemed to be under the impression it would be quite some time before they were restocked. Glad to hear they were wrong...the weekend suddenly looks brighter.
All data is not written twice (your partitions don't hold half as much). Each file would have to be REALLY small (roughly equal to the size of the journal entry) to cause the equivalent of 2x the data to be recorded. I honestly don't know the average size of each journal transaction but I have trouble imagining it to be anything substantial. Not surprisingly, the write penalty is not often discernable. The tasks the original poster mentioned are more read dependent anyway.
A non-negotialble benifit is the ease of making an ext3 partition (either from scratch or especially from and existing ext2 partition).
Road Runner runs daily scans (so I was told) looking for things like this. One day out of the blue we were tagged for a Code Red infestation. My one Micro$oft box had been patched for months at that point and the other machines here in my apartment are Linux. So, the scan is flawed to begin with. After the requisite 2 hours on the phone spread over several calls all with people who are not qualified to fix a toaster-oven much less provide broadband support, it became clear no one at Road Runner knew how to turn my service back on! It took 3 days, another modem!!!??? and constant calling and putting up with level 1, 2, and 3 tech support BS to get to anything. Even then, the MAC address fn the original NIC the modem was connected to is still banned somewhere in their database.
All this because one of their scans returned a fulty result.
Oh, the same thing applies here...they were not going to contact us! We were supposed to call on our own.
The middle east has been home to nearly constant death by way of various means. Terrorism and military actions cost civilian life nearly every day. I have yet to witness any celebration on the part of American. Those caught on tape in the west bank represent the bottom rung of humanity. Barely possesing intelligence that qualifies as human, they are incapable of understanding the few feet that make up their immediate surroundings, much less the direction that humaninty is heading in. They will be the next "victims" of the newest form of natural selection. They do not fit in to the environment and will cease to be. The fact that the Arab world even exists still is due to an act of consideration on the part of the western world. The western world has endured repeated violations of the trust that such a consideration assumes. It is clear now, however, the conditions such consideration permits are tantamount to the proverbial loose cannon. After yesterday's events, they entire Arab world is nothing more than an inconvient topigraphical feature that will be razed to all the further progress in the construction of modern society.
Games were a major part of Microsoft's rise to power in the first place. While there may be little use for the Itanium in a desktop now, a new game title that took advantage of the power of that chip would shorten the time until the chip hits the desktop mainstream. And while M$ may be planning a realease of Whistler for the new chip, I'm sure DX is nowhere in sight for it. This is an opportunity to take back a major part of M$'s allure. Any takers?

Actually, the word he used (as you so graciously quoted) was MOST.

$400 to manufacture when they sell at $299? Maybe I need to go back to school to get my MBA to understand that one.
Email clients don't send spam...people send spam.
Then he would have a broken computer.

I wonder why they simply didn't block port 80.

RIGHT to drive a car?
You have got some serious issues.

This deserves hall of fame acceptance.
