Distributed Denial of Distribution. It's just a virus that blocks all incoming and outgoing data on the box it's on and then tries to distribute itself.
You should play Shadowbane when it comes out. Now that's REAL power. I mean, you *literally* control the server, if you have the skills. Building cities, taking cities, making alliances.. it's the pinnacle of the MMORPG experience. Really, I think it's the first one that looks to be fun, instead of just pressing 'a' repeatedly....... that's just my not so humble opinion though.
On the computer I'm using right now, if you press the button to turn off the computer, Windows XP goes into the "Shutting down.." screen briefly, and then turns off. Also, if you just unplug the thing and don't give it a chance to shut down, it doesn't run scandisk at startup due to the NTFS partitioning. NTFS doesn't do scandisk.. AFAIK.
Well, Linux is renowned for having most of it's power in the CLI. So while Linux is probably more powerful than Windows, from strictly a GUI standpoint, Windows XP may have Linux beat.
What the FUCK, man? It's Windows, not Windoze. By spelling Windoze, or M$, or Winblows, you're only making yourself look extremely immature and conforming. That just gets on my nerves.
Yes, but there's more good indie bands than there are good mainstream bands. There are just more indie bands in general, so of course you're going to have more of the good and bad on the indie side.
Sarcasm? Your parent post's comment was well made. BF1942 is a good change of pace, and not just the same as all the other FPSes. A lot of people are complaining about all the FPSes being the same these days - well, BF1942 is probably what they're looking for.
Stuff can be funny but not ironic. Irony is just a literary tool, and to just blatantly throw it around describing everything that's funny as ironic would be.. well, wrong. I mean, it's communication, man. Irony has to be a specific thing, or no one would know what the hell you were talking about when you said "Dude, that's ironic."
Or, head over to www.distributedfolding.com. I'm not sure what the relation is to Folding@Home, if any, but this is the protien folding that I contribute to.
What about the crashing part the above poster mentioned?
Anyhow, MOH:AA is definately not the most demanding game. With newer, more demanding games like Battlefield 1942 and UT2k3, the Mac might maintain a good framerate most of the time, but there will be spots where it drops below 20. That's not a good thing.
Macs might be more polished, and I bet you can connect your camera to your Mac (since we all know that stuff like that on a PC is only done in hollywood), or whatever, but.. they're just not as fast for the price. Especially in the long term, when I don't have to buy a whole new system for a faster processor.
I have nothing against Macs. I really haven't used one that much. But to say that a comparable computer is cheaper is plain ridiculous.
I just built a 2.53 GHz P4, 512MB DDR PC3200, GeForce 4 ti4600, 48X CD-RW, 80GB HD system for $1400. That's with a monitor, a good PSU, a quality case, and the Abit IT7 MAX motherboard. If you didn't know, that specific motherboard has 8 USB ports on it (some USB 2.0), 2 firewire ports, and built-in LAN.
That's not a crappy system. Trust me.. it'd probably out perform most Macs, if not all. (Unfortunately, I think it's a bit hard to benchmark equally between two operating systems, yet alone two different hardware types. Although I guess timing filters works.)
So what were you saying about Macs being better than PCs? Oh, I guess I didn't have my operating system pre-installed. Oh well.

It's MS, actually.
Also of note - they had to specify paperback? I mean, are they any larger or smaller than hardbacks? Are they basing the file size of book on weight?

Yeah, but how are they in the dark? I can say I've honestly never seen one in full light in someone's living room. For day to day use, is it viable?
I thought it was a valid point. In fact, I don't see how it's flamebait at all.
What the FUCK, man? It's Windows, not Windoze. By spelling Windoze, or M$, or Winblows, you're only making yourself look extremely immature and conforming. That just gets on my nerves.
Yarr, mateys, here comes the off-topic.
Watercooling, maybe?
There's other stuff made just for HDDs, too.

It's MS, by the way, not M$. Just saw that typo, thought I might correct it.

Sean
.. yes, and so is the $9000 that they would have to spend to buy Windows to even use the $2000 worth of software.
The server is still up, and the mods are extremely polished. Pretty sweet, actually. I, for one, am glad he posted it.
They don't really learn like that..
Film at 11.. yarr, that is so annoying.

Or, you could run Linux, and you'd have the cheapness + performance + lack of all that you mentioned.
Plus you could build it yourself and upgrade the processor when you wanted to.
Come on, RMS. Posting as AC again?
He means the movie.

Battlefield 1942, maybe? It's a mother freaker.
