I think you're missing out on my sarcasm. I don't think so-called 'self driving cars' are anywhere NEAR ready for general use, and in fact I don't think they'll ever be, not until we have full-on general AI, at least equivalent to a human brain. At current they can't 'think' at all, no capacity to do so -- because we have no idea how a human brain does that, and won't anytime soon, either, we don't have the instrumentality to determine that. SDC's will be a disaster. I feel bad for all the people who will die before they're finally pulled off the roads. I hold out hope that they never catch on because they're so shitty no one will want them.

My only concern at this point is that I don't suffer permanent injuries, or die, in all the accidents I'll inevitably get in with so-called 'self driving cars', so I can sue the living daylights out of the manufacturers, and retire wealthy.

You're right, of course. What we need are reforms of driver education, training, and testing. Bring back Driver Ed/Driver Training in highschools. Stricter DMV skills testing of current drivers, more often too, to weed out dangerous, incompetent, and angry drivers.

  7. I don't blame the guy at all for doing that. Google once had a motto of "don't be evil", but they left that behind a long time ago in favor of "profit over all".
Sometimes you have to lead by example and make damned sure that people know you're doing it. If enough key people leave Google then maybe they'll get the idea that the direction they're going is wrong and counterproductive in the long term.

  11. Social Media connects people and brings people together!

    BULL-FUCKING-SHIT.
All so-called 'social media' does is let you pretend to be 'social', while in reality it's giving you every excuse to not be social at all. Text on a screen, or even pictures on a screen, over the Internet is not a substitute for actually interacting, live and in person, with other people.
I also blame smartphones being used by children and teenagers for this. 'Texting' someone is also not being 'social' in any real sense, it's just another excuse to not interact with people in live settings.

We've now hamstrung an entire generation because of smartphones and 'social media'. They have 'social anxiety disorder', don't know how to interact with people in a live setting, are socially avoidant, and because of this they now will not develop properly into adults. They'd rather be shut-ins and text people instead of being out of their houses and with their peers.

Want to prevent your own kids from being reclusive shut-ins as adults? Get them off social media and take away their smartphones.
