Haha.. that is because we are all gun carrying hustlers here in the U.S. So you better watch out because if we don't hustle you we will definatly shoot you.
Everyone has mentioned that ATMs use POTS. This is true. But most of them use a dial-back feature to increase secuirty. They phone home (a pre-configured number, the only way to change this number is to physically open the ATM), hang up and wait for the return call. They will not answer unless they have called out first. ATMs are pretty damn secure.
I've got an idea. The public is generally considered very bad at governing itself right? (In terms of making logical descions) Masses of people tend to act on whims, emotions, and whatever the "group" feels at the moment. Mob mentality on a grand scale if you will. I suppose that this is because people don't tend to think logically in these kinds of situation, whether because they don't want to think for themselves out of laziness, lack of time, or lack of resources to educate themselves. I don't know. What if a public service was started that during elections, say maybe.. the whole week before the election, every TV station has a voter education segment that reviews each canditate and issue in a non-partisian fashion. And I don't mean just a half hour election primer sitcom deal. I'm talking every channel, several hours worth of information. Does anyone think this might help?
Windows(any version) - Your highly unstable model look alikes. They look hot and they're very loose so they pick up lots of viruses.
Mac - Artistic girls, enough said.
Linux - these would be the ugly fat girls. Very utilitarian doesn't look pretty but it gets the job done right. It cooks, it cleans, AND it does the laundry! and all you have to do is love it back.
A highschool grade making 30k? Yeah right. Speaking as a highschool grad with a good understanding of linux system administration. (I administer a couple of commercial linux machines on a consultant/contractor basis) This statement is just a little exagerated.
Right now, you will be very very lucky even if you get a job without having some kind of degree. (in the Midwest, Chicago,IL. Could be a different story elsewhere) Generally people don't trust you if you don't have a degree. Usually they expect you to prove yourself ALL THE TIME. From my experiences anyways. ymmv.
Unless you know the right people getting paid 30k a year right out of highschool isn't likely to happen. I've been working as an intern since I was 16 and I'm still not yet making 30k. And the company I work for won't hire me as a "real" associate until I have a degree. So really, stay in school and goto college. Things just seem to work out better that way.
When are we going to shoot them all? Oh wait.. its probably against the law to say that. Guess I better go find my self a Lawyer.. wtf
Does this sound like a load of ^%& to anyone e

It seems to me that a lot of people have this same idea for games every couple of weeks on gamedev forums. They seem to think that being able to do whatever you want and have the story change dynamically would be fun and of course easy to code. I don't get it. What's fun about that in a single player setting? There's no doubt in my mine that this would be fun, but only until you get tired of running into traffic and blowing everything up in sight. So in other words, about 5 minutes. Computers have trouble carrying on realistic conversations, how exactly is a computer going to create a realistic world which would include many many conversations? Any hardcore gamer will tell you, Multiplayer is the best way to play any game. I think that the human element is what adds to that enjoyment. We do all sorts of weird, quirky, and stupid things. Most of which is usually pretty random. Not to mention entertaining. Computers are going to have a tough time emulating that because they are not very good at being original or random.
Lets see.. AFTRA wants more money because it's so hard to read out loud for a living. I'm sure they have to deal with all sorts of injuries and lawsuits. I hear those headsets they wear can cause serious hearing loss. Really.. the radio stations need to grow some balls. Tell them to f-ck off. It's not like the they're targeting a whole new market, it's only a subset of the current market. (if your listening to radio over the internet, you listen or used to listen over the radio) They are acting like this is some new untapped resource when in reality it's not. I think the radio stations need to stand up for themselves and tell these licensing vultures that they won't pay anymore and they'll take their business elsewhere. The radio DJ's have powerful control over the success of music. If the radio DJ's refuse to play a song on the radio, that song just isn't going to sell very well, no matter how good it is. (I could be wrong..) So why don't they use their incredible social influence and tell the RIAA and AFTRA to piss off?

It's generaly socially acceptable in the corporate world to view interns as sub-human. Thus no one really fears them. Mostly they get picked on.

I'd have to say, I'd want my girls like a mac.

Hey, if you poke a tiger with a stick. There's a pretty good chance he will eat you.
