I have Klipsch Pro Medias and they are one of the best purchases I have ever made. They sound great, they look great, and they cost just slightly more than the creative/cambridge set with way more clarity and headroom for the money. Buy em, you won't be sorry.
Somebody did that in the past. I forget his name, but needless to say, white hats often get prosecuted more frequently than skiddies and h4x0rz. This guy got arrested, charged, and convicted. A good alternative however would be for somebody to write the patching worm, then post it everywhere as a tool for admins to control there local networks easily, and provide detailed instructions on how it could be modified to spread to other network addresses. Then just wait for some fool/hero to launch it on the world. Don't expect the author to do it, probably won't happen. Besides, we need them to stick around and write more in the future.
I have heard that these new copy protections have the potential to actually damage the cd player using them. Anybody know anything more indepth about that?
Any real Ultima fanatic knows the best Ultima ever made was U5. U4 was great as well, but everything they did good in 4, they did GREAT in 5. I played them all up to 8 + Ascension + UO. 6, 7, and 8 in my opinion where not as good primarily do to technical reasons. For instance, in 6 if you do something wrong (kill the wrong person) your pretty much done as you can't complete the task at hand, be it from lack of information or the proper item.
Ascention / UO. One of the memorable disappointments in my life. Corporate termoil probably primarily to blame for that one.
Ultima 1 and 2 are very special episodes in the series. The go beyond the whole mid evil era to new times and dimensions. For that fact alone, I think it is a neat idea to revist the stories themselves with a technically modern approach and see what comes out of it. With any luck, at the very least, it will remind me of days long gone and playing computer games with life long friends when there was no such thing as the "interweb".
final note - In Ultima 3..who would have guessed that Exodus was MACHINE!! So cool, so funny.

I never said it doesn't work for everyone else. I said "IT CRASHES". It has happend to me several times in the past 6 months and every single time, recovery was not possible. Has anybody ever successfully repaired the OS with the "Repair" option on the win2k disc? It seems like the put that on there just as some kind of sick joke at this point. I have talked to several people and they all had the same experience when trying to repair.
The big difference for me is when something goes haywire in win2k, you generally only get some vauge error message which is useless for trying to resolve the issue. Its always.. reinstall. In linux, you generally know what is causing the problem, and you don't have blue screens on boot up with vauge messages. Stability aside. Recovery is just terrible on win2k. I would also tend to think that the majority of people who have had good success with win2k don't install as many apps as I do, and usb device drivers. These usb device drivers seem to be very deadly in my experiences. Win2k is basically a polished turd. Underneath the polish, its still just a win98 turd. just my opinion. and to you be-fan.. if it works for you..enjoy. as for me. i can't take it anymore. you can have my copy!

Anti-Aliased fonts or No Anti-Aliased fonts. Why not both? The default A-A fonts are absoulutely hideous! Other than that, so far I really like it. Konqueror is pretty damn good now. I noticed tons of fixes. More stylesheet crap appears to work now.
I had win2k crash on me the other day and that was the last straw. I usually have a ton of apps installed, so reinstalling my system takes weeks. For all those people who say win2k never crashes.. I beg to differ. Worst of all, it is almost impossible to recover. So here I go with Debian/KDE 2.2. [back on topic] After playing with this for a few days, it suddenly occurred to me how ugly the M$ gui is compared to KDE 2.2. Best word to describe it..'FREEDOM'
You won't be able to "put a stop to this this thing really fast" no matter what you do. M$/IIS is bloatware chocked full of undiscovered exploits. This is not the last of THIS TYPE of worm.
AND! yes it does say something about the character of the IIS admins, because it takes very little technical know how to get a IIS server running. ("I had IIS running? I had no idea") Like I said! Uninformed, ignorant, or lazy! PICK ONE!
I for one am glad. This is just the type of thing that can actually cause enough damage to the already tarnished track record of M$ commercial server market, to help see a real decline in there numbers.
You're talking but your not saying anything.
We all know M$ sucks. We all know there are tons of M$ server admins who are idiots. What WE are bitching about is how WE are helpless to the degredation of the quality of the internet thanks to the ignorance of said parties! What WE are bitching about is how M$/IIS has more exploits found in 6 months than xNIX/Apache has in its entire existence. Why? simple..it's called M$ sux0rz folks!.
M$ needs to build into IIS an automatic update utility that can not be easily turned off. Oops, that won't work... then we would have internet traffic jam of a different kind.
Seriously though. Then if the admin who was smart enough to turn it off, they would hence self qualify themselves to be competent enough to run IIS unsupervised.
Microsoft needs to get the hell away from the plate. Thats the real problem. They have failed us with IIS over and over again. Hackable bloatware at its finest.
Ignorance is not an excuse! I think you know what I mean.
All of the code red worms like it or not, have a good effect to an equal degree that they are bad or annoying. What does not kill us makes us stronger (or kills IIS which i wouldnt mind a bit). The interesting thing about the whole code red phenomenon is that it appears to be the first worm/virus to not only exploit a flaw in software, but a flaw in the character of the IIS server admin. Brilliant experiment in the area of a socially engineered worm. I have my doubts that they had envisioned it in this way when they created the worm however.
I believe that a new breed of virus or worms have been born and now the door has been opened for worms that prey on the laziness and ignorance of unqualified or unreliable server operators. While all others have done this in the past, these are different in that they don't pose a threat specifically to one machines hardware or files, rather the net as a whole. Just look at the numbers of machines still infected. IIS ops are either entirely uninformed, or just have the "I'll just reboot, I don't have time to install patch" mentality.
I am sure the dickwads over at Microsoft have spun this into a "Money Making Opportunity" for there "Open Source is UNAmerican and Unsafe" server marketing campaign. I can just hear it now.. "With the new Advanced Server Ver.666, you won't get hacked by that nasty code red back door we left open for you. We fixed it!" (thereby adding 3 more new ones) haha.
Tribes didn't even make the list? You've got to be kidding me. It was far and away the first game that brought large team multiplayer TEAMWORK gameplay to the FPS. You don't work as a team, you loose. I mean the first in the sense that working together goes beyond just the weapons side of the game.
This game in my mind deserves to be at least in the top 20.
I just got on a machine yesterday with XP for the first time. It appears to be all about more pretty pictures and less usable powerful functionality. I guess I am being a little cynical..but I just feel ill when a little dog appears wagging his tail when I am trying to locate files.
Thanks for dumbing me down. AGAIN. When will they learn? More importantly.. when will WE LEARN!
The best software will always be developed for dominant OS. Therein lies the conundrum.
It's fine if they don't want to not allow relaying, but that can (and is!) done with IP addresses. Using the from field is totally lame. That means if you have a bigfoot email address or a similar remailer for privacy, portability, and disposability ie.. (change ISPs, or start getting to much spam on the account).... you will no longer be able to use it.
Most remailer services don't allow you to relay through there servers. That would be as dumb as not letting you specify your from field. There are other ways to stop spammers. Better ways!

these people aren't doing it for the money. its freeware! they are doing it because they love the game. pure and simple.

Thank you KDE Team!
Goat se# i mean.. goat silk is cooler!
Dumbass! No I wouldn't because it wouldn't be running as root!
are you going to criticize stupid shit, or are you going to talk about the issue at hand ya fuckin flame bait bitch.
