Paradox Interactive has a great system where users have to register with their serial number in order to post in or view certain areas of their vBulletin forum. There's no in game DRM. It's completely unobtrusive but there's a lot of peer pressure to register games (anyone posting in the General Discussion areas for support almost immediately gets told to register their game and post in the support area). I'm not sure how piracy rates are figured but I'd be curious to see what theirs is--I'd imagine they do better than average.
Engineering. No casualties, Captain, but trouble aplenty with the memes. Every dilithium crystal connection smashed in the warp engine circuitry. We're trying to bypass them now.
It cracks me up when reports like this come out and everyone starts screaming about how Apple's taking over. No they're not. They're not close. They've never been close. They'll never be close. It's not what "everyone wants."
And/. represents what everyone wants? Not even close.
The overwhelming majority of people don't need a computer with a general purpose operating system.
The overwhelming majority of people don't need a computer at all.
Can someone explain to me how a comment with this statement in it can be +4 informative? I may be new here but this has to be one of the most idiotic things I've ever read on slashdot--which says a lot.
Am I the only one who thinks it's frickin' cool to be captured on one of these street views? Me: "See that blurry guy there?" Friend: "Uhh...yeah." Me: "That's me!" (Portland, OR)
...so I made the mistake of lowering my threshold, to make sure I didn't miss any "good" comments.
Boy, was that ever the wrong move. By the time I got to the third page, I was wondering if anyone cared or even remembered about this poor sap with the cease and desist letter...or would it all just be a bunch of ranting and raving about Ishmaels and Isaacs, Korans and Qurans, and Testaments, both new and old... *sigh*
The patented ready-to-brew reservoir keeps water at the ideal brewing temperature of approximately 200. (Conventional home brewers heat water until it boils up to coffee basket.)
So please, stop using that reference. She was injured because McDonalds kept their coffee at an unsafe temperature.
Complete BS. Here's one link, there's plenty of others for those who actually care about the facts, which say that coffee tastes best at precisely the temperature McDonalds used.
You're bang-on. Most sellers won't leave positive feedback until they in turn have received positive feedback - So as a buyer I'll never leave negative feedback as it will turn around and slam me.
Forgive me if I'm not a super eBayer...I buy something from eBay maybe 4x a year. But it never fails that that the seller leaves me feedback as soon as I PayPal them - then again, I only buy from "reputable" sellers...who probably don't care about my single measly feedback. Is this a sign that the system actually works?
And that's not even getting into my whole rant about how Wizards hasn't given a damn about the gamers since the Ice Age block. But that would be getting off-topic.
No please...lets get off topic and rant about this. Ice Age truly was the last great era of Magic...I quit about the time Tempest came out. You're making me nostalgic thinking about Necrodecks, Jester's Cap/Mask, and my all-time personal favorite M:TG card...

...I'm glad I've managed to stay away from gambling online. If I had ever gotten into it, I probably wouldn't have this PC and net access to comment on this article. The two states I've lived in my whole life, Oregon and Nevada, are #2 and #1 in gambling addiction per capita (too lazy to provide links, but google it if you'd like) respectively. I've seen many friends who have wrecked their lives with gambling, and have come damn close to wrecking my own.
I'm sure this bill will be denounced on slashdot, but I really don't think of it as *that* evil. Sure, there are plenty of legitimate online gambling sites, but many of them are there solely to rip you off of your hard earned dollars, and often times people (unfortunately) cannot tell the difference. Maybe, just maybe, our elected legislators have our best interest in heart this time.
I mean in this day, is anyone really more than a few hours away from an Indian casino? Do you really need 24/7 access to gambling? It might be that the very few hours of distance is all that saves a lot of people from their self...
Point of course being, USE WIKIPEDIA AS A STARTING POINT. It's amazing if you want to learn basic facts about things - who the fuck Jethro Tull really was, etc., but always check references. Wikipedia is quite thorough in its referencing, but a proper researcher should be more thorough. Of course, it's better than most political non-fiction out there now, anyway.
A starting point for infinite knowledge, if you ask me. Where else can you begin by looking up a movie, get sidetracked into the crusades, and end up reading a fascinating listing of every Star Trek ship class that has ever existed, including non-canonical sources?
Its so much fun I end up reading for hours, and usually have 20 tabs open by the time I think, "Enough is enough!" Wikipedia just may be the start of a higher consciousness.
This was from some B movie? any have a name?
There was a surgically implanted bomb in The Hurt Locker which was hardly a B movie.
This comment does not imply support of the TSA in the slightest.

Obviously too many penguins have been reading this book...
You must not drink much coffee, I take it? Couldn't find the stats for my home coffee maker, but here is a similar one...

It's an interesting enough post to make me wish I hadn't wasted my points earlier today on useless drivel...
Can I moderate the same post as Insightful, Interesting, Informative, and Flamebait?!?
Must be a Mac user...and I thought they only couldn't tell the difference between left and right clicks. ;)
