"This is the ultimate example of a female having her cake and eating it too...It would be like a human female who marries a short, dumpy rich guy and then has an affair with a muscular 20-year-old to have a handsome son who grows up in a mansion and goes to the best schools."
A cool article, but that author spent entirely too much time thinging about that analogy.
I find the fact that the females seem to be able to decide which male to produce a certain gender with very fascinating. Either the article is over simplified, or these lizards can do some really neat stuff.
[blink] Even if this was the case (which it is not), did we had robotics that complex back when the moon landings took place? I'd be very surprised if we did.
It seems that motherboards in general are being made more poorly lately. Last April I bought a Soyo Dragon Plus motherboard. It has been give me and others problems. Apparently, they screwed something up because the board is not technically PCI compliant on the top two pci slots. So basically, if you use the AGP slot and either of those slots with anything more taxing than a modem, you will be riddled with reboots and the like.
Not to mention that there is something else screwed up with the board because the MadOnion benchmark always identifies it as having twice as much ram as it does (I have 512 mb on two 256 mb's. It thinks I have two 512 mb's) and it can not seem to complete the PCMark test without rebooting during the ram tests. This has happened to other Soyo Dragon Plus users, so it's not like it's just the software.
And don't even get me started on how they ripped me off by not bothering to tell me that they would not give me the accessories needed to make various functions work. Had to by them seperately....
Same case with the motherboard I bought before that.
Anyway, my point is that it just seems that MB manufacturers are cutting a lot of corners, so it doesn't surprise me that they are using cheap capacitors.
Intel is already out $150 million. If they win the appeal, no more lost money. If they lose, they lose another $100 million. Either way they get permission to use the patent. There's really no reason for them not to pursue this.

Is anyone bothering to dress up?
I'm in college, so I wasn't planning to, but I found out everyone else is getting into the spirit, so I need a costume quick.
I combed the shops this morning and this was all that was left to buy: stage blood and various color face paint. Any ideas? If I can't think of something cool I can make quickly, I just going to mix up a grey-green paint and go as a zombie.
uuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh brrraaaaaaiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn
Anyway, I just want to know what cool costumes everyone else did.
Version 6.0 will feature granular, application-level security and pluggable I/O interfaces. Which means that licensees can swap out the Graffiti input mechanism for an alternative,
That would be welcome upgrade. I know a lot of people dislike it.
While I like the graffiti on my Visor Deluxe, it would nice if someone could design an interface with all the graffiti symbols that could 'learn' what I mean, the way a speak recognition program does. I have sloppy writing and it's takes me too long to enter in all my assignments.
Well, everything seems to be working alright. I can log in and post just fine.:)
The only thing I noticed is that since almost all the links point to slashdot.org, simply using brak.slashdot.org until DNS updates will not work. I've already updated my host file to fix this.
Actually, just a quick note: I noticed that since every link points to slashdot.org and not brak.slashdot.org, simply using brak.slashdot.org until the DNS updates is not sufficient.
Looks like people (like me) who don't run their own DNS will have to just update their hosts file for the moment....
Speaking as someone who had to get a job in high school, it's sometimes kinda tough to get a job that even pays decently. These services will continue as long as someone keeps buying from them.
So yes, needing a job makes it ok to sell a product (piss you off).
Not a quote you want to hear out side of modding..

A cool site (All that flash stuff will just increase the/. effect, though), but that quote out of context would lead to some interesting situations....:)
I was wondering where Gene got all those shells all of a sudden. That sounds like a bizarre episode. I'm going to have to get to that episode soon that I can get the lowdown on casters. Now that I think about it, that was one think that annoyed me when it was CN. I kept expecting them to explain at least where he got a caster, since ever single person he meets is surprised he has one.
I can understand them cutting the episode if it would be impossible to cut out stuff for CN w/o reducing an episode to 5 minutes (as it sounds for episode), but it would have been nice to be at least get a small explanation somewhere. Thanks.
That's a pretty interesting comment coming from someone with the name 'AnimeRulez'. Sheesh. It's not like I'm one of the troll who kept saying 'Anime sucks'. I enjoyed these show and am sorry to see them go, but I try to look on the bright side.
Ouch. That was a very good section of the show. You could probably get it off of filesharing programs, but it's just not the same as having to wait a week to see what the heck is going to happen....
I've watched the DVDs of Outlaw Star and besides from a little blood, a few swear words and an episode (which I haven't seen yet, BTW - just got to the third disk), it didn't seem like they cut much at all.
I'd be interested in hearing a little more detail about what it bothering you. I mean, I know there in a certain scene that there is blood there. Just because on CN you can't see the blood doesn't bother me too much.
It's probably for the best. This will encourage me to actually go out and buy the DVDs for the shows I like, rather than just tape them off of CN. (And no cutting that way, too)
Plus, Futurama will find a new home. It is a very underappreciated show, and I'm glad it can be shown somewhere were it will won't be constantly preempted by sports.:P
What better way to field test a server than to give every/. member 30 points and watch them waste several hours loading and reloading to mod!! Not to mention all the people who only read occasionally and are showing up just to see the fireworks....
Considering most of the garbage on the net, I'm not sure I would WANT those two.
Plus, if it was possible, not only would crappy sights have annoying MIDIs playing the background, but would also have the smell of flowers or something on a loop.:P

Could they not just go to brak.slashdot.org and read the posts? It seems that at least one person has already done that.

That you don't buy the pusher bot model.
It might like to shove grandma down the stairs and light things of fire.
Even if it will help with the terrible secret of space, it's just not worth the risk.
Yeah, someone has been using the rejects from the Genuine People Personality (TM) line...

The second half the last season of Reboot was just insane... I enjoyed it, but it seemed too silly after the seriousness of the Daemon episodes.

It seems that all the insane people are now on the new server. The mods being thrown around do not seem to make any sense.
Especially when two of my posts (very on topic, legitimate) were both modded +2 troll.... Odd....

And the dog. We had three different people who asked about the dog in the opening sequence, but the votes for it were spread out between the three. :P
I still want to know about the dog!
