    You do know that those breaks are good times to go to the bathroom, wash the dishes, make the bed, start a load of laundry, etc.

    The problem is, you can do all the above, and the commercial break hasn't ended yet!

    For 99.9% of it is just noise. However in an emergency situation it's an easy way to disperse information.

    It's also the fastest way to disperse misinformation. I don't know about teh Twit, but in an emergency, 90+% of what's on the regular news is unreliable. They just don't have the information yet. In a day or two, it's settled down and more real info becomes known, but if we have to wait for correct news anyway, what use is Twitter?

  5. Why do I need Twitter? If I want to see Trump tweets, I just have to wait until the MSM reports on them later in the day, and talks about how stupid they are ad-nauseum.

    That's pretty much where I'm at. There's always something that drives me back to Windows. My most recent attempt had serious problems with dual-booting, plus I wasn't happy with Libre Office. I could fix the first by getting a dedicated Linux-only box, but I'd still have the other problem.

    Once, I was working on a system that had restrictive password rules, and didn't state what those rules were. I kept getting "invalid password" when I tried to change it. The one it finally accepted was not anything I'd want to state in polite company, or even impolite company.

    Yeah, and I'd consider a 10K phone in the same category as a 10K watch. As long as they sell stuff that a mere mortal like me can buy, I don't care if they have stuff for those with more money than brains.

    I have an iWatch. It didn't cost 10K. I don't care if Apple releases a 10K phone. I won't buy it. I will buy an iPhone 7 at a price that doesn't choke a hippopotamus. Or, an iPhone 6 at a price that doesn't choke a horse. Or, if I have to, switch ecosystems and get an Android.

    ^This!!! I tried 3 of those, and I thought they were good, until they got axed right in the middle! That's one thing that soured me on network TV.

    OTOH, I don't like the way regular TV releases a few weeks, waits a couple of months in the winter, releases a few more, takes a spring break, then releases a few more and quits for the summer.

    On regular TV, if I know that a show isn't a "hit", I'm less likely to try it because TPTB will probably cancel it in the middle, leaving me pissed off. That probably wouldn't apply to the NF originals, since they release a whole season at a time.

    Err...why would you not have A/C in your home?

    My previous house didn't have central A/C. The 100 y/o furnace wasn't compatible with it, and it would have cost big $$$$ to rip it out and replace with something newer.

    OTOH, lack of A/C is a significant reason that that house is "previous".

    As long as I use my bank's ATMs, I don't get charged. I try to avoid using other ATM for just that reason. And whatever you do, don't use another bank's ATM at a casino. I lost more at the damn ATM than I did at the slot machines!

    I use my current PC far more than my tablet. I just don't need a new PC. My current machine is fine.

    I had a brief glitch this weekend with Office 365. I started up Excel and it erroneously thought my subscription had expired (it hadn't). A reboot cleared it up, and if it hadn't I could have used my backup on Google Docs. However, it would have been much harder if it had happened to the whole OS. Having the whole computer unusable because of a subscription glitch, or even because I really am short this month, is unacceptable.
