For me it's two things. First, there has been a Trek incarnation on the air since 1987. Second, and even more important, what will replace Enterprise? As bad as the first 3 seasons of Enterprise were, the (un)reality crap is even worse. If they replace Enterprise with THAT, that really would sux!
Learning stuff from a teacher with other pupils can be fun
That depends on the teacher. SOME of my classes were fun, but most of them were MUCH more boring than any self-studying I've done. At least when I study on my own, I don't have teachers bitching that I'm reading ahead.
I agree that Stardoe has a lot of similarity to Starbuck. While I bring the sex change up when I gripe about this show, it's not my main objection. My main gripe is in your last paragraph. This series IS grittier & darker - too gritty & dark for my taste. The old series had limitations - it WAS 1978 television after all, but I liked its style much better than the overly complicated dramatic stuff going on in the current series.
StarBUCK should be both a man and a womanizer! Boomer should be a black man, and human! Ditto for Colonel Tigh! The Cylons suck, the old series WAS better, it's boring without the space battles, and the religion sux.
And just because I'm too late to yell "First Post" doesn't mean I didn't think about it.
As I understand it, here's how the color-coding works in the systems you're link mentioned:
Green - that's the status when everyone is asleep.
Blue - I'm not quite clear on this, but I think it has something to do with KMart.
Yellow - the normal state.
Orange - it bumps to orange when the DHS eats at Taco Bell
Red - the highest alert. It means planes are crashing into building, bombs are dropping, and shopping malls are blowing up. The proper course of action here is to run around in a circle screaming.
Oddly enough, there WAS one French victory. Against England, in fact, in 1066. And we've had all those annoying French words in our language ever since.
What use is any other language to me? I don't travel much, and not at all outside the USA. At least 85% of the internet is in English, and I bet much of the remaining 15% is just a dupe of the English pages. I can literally travel thousands of miles away and still be where English is the main language.
There's nothing wrong with learning other languages, but there's no compelling reason for most Americans to do so. The main reason Europeans are multilingual is because they can practically walk to where they speak a different language. That isn't the case here.
The second point is similar. They said that government related communications must use "courriel" instead of "email". I'd say it's a good thing, official communications should use the correct vocabulary. Using "email" would be the same as using leet speak in official govt. communications for example
Actually, it's more like an English speaker using the word "fatigue" to express that they're tired. Except that we don't mind borrowing words from other languages (even French), while they're extremely anal about doing so.
I switched to DirecTV because of DTivo. I had a regular Tivo, but I was always having two shows on at the same time. With DTivo, I can record both of them.
But no more. Television is an extremely limited medium. there are only five things:
1: Sentimental pseudo-dramas with endless close-up shots of actors overacting under heavy lights and heavy make-up.
2: Canned laughter situation-comedies that are rarely if ever actually funny.
3. Talking heads going on endlessly; saying nothing.
4. The Game. Televising 'da game, man' hasn't changed much in fifty years. Turn on a TV and within a half-second you know if you have on 'the game'. It never stops; it never changes. You either like it or not.
5. Commercials. They used to be 60 seconds, now they are all 30 or 15 seconds. Some people consider them to be a unique American art form; some people consider pissing on a electric wire to be an art form. Nearly everyone thinks commercials suck and trys to avoid them
6. Action/Adventure shows. Maybe you classify them under #1, but I think they're different enough to justify their own category. Some of those are worth watching.
7. Documentaries. Also worth watching.
The good thing about Tivo is, it can find the diamonds that are buried in the mountain of dung that is most TV.
Myself, I would rather watch DVDs, ride bicycle, write code, dance, make love, or eat pizza than watch television
Another good thing about Tivo is that I can watch DVDs, take walks, read, make love, and eat pizza, and STILL see my favorite shows whenever I want to.
I was never a die-hard RH user, but I recommended it to several people in the past, partly because it was a decent distro, but mostly because it was the de facto Linux. Ever since the Fedora change, I recommend SuSe or Mandrake to those people. The only way I'd recommend RH again is if it becomes better than SuSe, which it never has been, and probably never will be. It can't coast on its brand name anymore.

ATMs give a paper trail. Banks send me monthly statements. I don't have to blindly trust them BECAUSE I can verify them.
Do you realize what that will make my SSN tax become?
Yes, they can. There's plenty of room for more post-it notes.
Yeah, but the chocolate was delicious!
That's the problem. They don't even bother to read my blog before laughing at it. That shows their bias right there.
See my sig. :)
Personally, I liked feldercarb. I also liked "centons" and "yarns". Why the frack SHOULD an alien culture talk exactly like us?

I've also used "feldercarb", which is also from the original series. Though I haven't heard it yet on this version. What the Frack?
I don't know about Firefly, but both Stargate shows ARE better!
All the above!

I probably say "fries" 99% of the time, and "french fries" the other 1%. The only time I say "freedom fries" is when I'm joking.
Have you READ some of those EULAs? They ARE in sanskrit, khmer, or flemish!
Nah! Any real American drinks beer anyway.

True. It should have been modded "Obvious".

Also heard: "I knew I shouldn't have had that burrito!".
