True. I bought an iBook, but I still have my Doze/Linux desktop. My next desktop might be a Mac, but it will probably be quite awhile before I retire my current one.
NetBank doesn't charge an ATM fee, but that doesn't help much because the owner of the ATM still charges one. Naturally, NetBank has very few ATMs in my area.:(
Well, maybe the author DID "learn" Latin. The only way to prove otherwise is to send him back through time and find out if the Romans can understand him.
In 2038, the 32 bit Unix dates will overflow and go into negative numbers. So when your time machine passes that date, it will overflow and you'll end up playing tag with a Tyranasaurus Rex.
I agree that OSS isn't immune to this problem; I once got bitten when an unsupported program borked after an upgrade. But I still had the option of trying to fix it myself or hiring someone to do it. With closed source, there IS no option.
The WebTV concept failed! The people who wanted Internet machines BOUGHT 1500 computers. They might not have been happy about it, and they might not have known how to admin them, but they bought them, while WebTVs rusted away in the store.

You're lucky. The only window in my office just bluescreened.
The majority of Americans thought Bush was better than a trained weasel. That doesn't mean we agree with all of his politics, particularly the Patriot Act. It just means we thought he sucked a little less than the other guy.
Successful extortions DON'T make the news, because officially the person who settles is guilty, whether he actually is or not. MAYBE such a person might get 60/20/Dateline to air their story, but more likely it would fall through the cracks.
I agree! KDE is just as easy as Windows, but installing Linux can be a PITA. Although my hardware works under "Linux", no single distro recognizes everything. Fedora Core 1 & SuSe 9.1 wouldn't even install on my box.
My main desktop is a Linux/XP dual-boot box, but I recently bought an iBook, and it kicks butt! To get Linux working, I had to re-partition my HD (eliminates 90+% of people right there), and found that no single distro supports ALL of my stuff OOTB (out of the box). Also, Windows didn't recognize my printer! However, everything I've plugged into my Mac worked OOTB. No fiddling of any kind!

Cash is fine when I'm spending $50 at the grocery store. But it doesn't work so well if I'm buying a $1500 iBook at Comp USA.

Well, if you're infected, your machine goes slower and sloower and slooooower, and it crashes, and !@#$
Um, the fact that Debian stable uses it doesn't mean it isn't obsolete.

Yeah, I know. I would NEVER tell anyone that my password is "********".
Damn, now I'll have to change mine!
Well, the "too cheap to meter" electricity would be a good way to recharge my flying car.
I meant 1500 DOLLAR computers! I don't think Joe bought that many boxen. :)

When will GCC include support for COBOL?

That's why I voted for Badnarik!
Why would anybody file their taxes this early? We still have a month & 5 days to go!

Yeah, I wince whenever I enter my PIN number at the ATM machine.
Now that you mention it, yes!
These days, the average blogger is more reliable than the average journalist.
Or is the average journalist as crappy as the average blogger?
That's not true! It's NOT just an excuse for Phoebe to show off her "charms"!
Sometimes, it's an excuse for Paige to display her "charms".
