When I tried free Hulu a few years ago, the ads were frequent, repetitive, and glitchy (I got caught in an infinite loop of ads), and though other than that loop, they were shorter than TV ads, I found them even more annoying. It sounds like the online ads are the same, except maybe for the glitch. To me it's well worth paying for Hulu (ad-free) to avoid the crappy commercials.
I turned off Amber Alerts after a similar incident. I did get an Emergency Alert, but there really was a tornado not too far away, so I still have that one on.
American: "My country is free because we can stand in the middle of DC and call our leader an idiot". Iraqi: "So what. I can stand in the middle of Baghdad and call your leader an idiot".
The alternative is to "trust" that the coworker standing behind you will catch when you fall backwards. At some places I worked at, stepping off a 12-story building is easier.
The problem is, if you're falling backwards off a 12 story building, the guy behind you is 12 stories down! I'm as trusting as the next guy, but that's taking it a little too far.
Agreed! I don't really give a damn about "live programming". I wouldn't mind being able to stream on my phone on occasion, but I can do that with Netflix, without any annoying commercial breaks.
This! My experience with streaming is Netflix and Hulu (ad-free), which meets both those criteria. My DVR isn't ad-free, but it does allow me to FF past ads. I can't see using anything that doesn't allow FF or watching on my schedule.
My phone is fine for reading ebooks (when I'm away from my tablet), watching Netflix/Hulu (when I'm away from my tablet), and browsing some websites (when I'm away from my tablet).
As for e-commerce, I don't even do that on my tablet. NFW will I mess with that on my phone.
I'm not that concerned about my emails. Most aren't worth saving, and the few that are, I do save. Ditto for Google Docs; everything important is also on my local box. A bigger problem would be the loss of the ACCOUNT. I have a shitload of stuff tied to my email account. Facebook, utility websites, shopping sites, all use my email as username.
Twice in the last week I have been in the presence of politicians saying how "1/3 of new housing is going to be affordable" and they have looked baffled when I explain that this means 2/3 of it will be unaffordable.
I look forward to automated politicians. THAT will be an improvement.
IMO, when the person dies, his soul is out of that broken meat body and is restored in personality/cognitive ability. Of course that's just an opinion, given that I've never died, or talked to anyone who has.
Most of the time I only need 2 seats, but not always. There were a few times I gave my mom's friend a lift, and 4 seats were barely enough (her friend could be kindly described as "large").

When I was in school, there were only 103 elements.
I don't know about apps or luddites. I do know that Trump and cows generate methane.
If you're not with us, then you're the enemy! [/sith]
Those were all bad presidents. My grandmother, born in 1903, said Coolidge caused the depression but Hoover was a terrible president, too.
Yeah, everyone agrees that Hoover really sucked as a president.

America is the only place in the world where it is legally permitted to criticize anyone and everyone.
See, for example: The creepy tyranny of Canada's hate speech laws
That reminds me of a joke from the Bush era.

I've often said that Trump won't be as bad as the left says, if only because that isn't possible.

Exactly! I barely even know what channel my shows are on. I just let my DVR handle it.
Agreed! I don't really give a damn about "live programming". I wouldn't mind being able to stream on my phone on occasion, but I can do that with Netflix, without any annoying commercial breaks.
Yeah, I had that when I had Direct. Time Warner does a lot better, even with a 3rd rate DVR.

I'll give Hilary credit for acting like an adult. Her supporters, OTOH, are not.
That's the only "qualified" that's in the Constitution. Anything else is just an opinion.

Maybe, but given my dislike of the cold, I'd rather go the religious route than the cryo.

Or maybe the reverse. The kid might be swarming with stuff that people in the 31st century eradicated centuries ago and are no longer immune to.

But they all look alike!
Isn't S. Korea also first-world? The only reason I can think of for not including Japan is that it's an island. Off the coast of Asia. :p
As far as I'm concerned, the whole bunch of them are in Asia, including India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Whateveristan else is in there.
Are you saying McCain sucked?
